Your past may explain where you have been, but it does not have to determine where you are going.

Perhaps you have made mistakes, experienced failure, or suffered painful disappointments. Learn from them, but don't build your future around them. God is able to give you a fresh beginning.

Paul had a painful past, yet God gave him a powerful future.
Your past is a chapter, not the whole book.

Don't allow yesterday's failure to steal tomorrow's opportunity.
God can give you a new beginning.

*TOPIC: GO STRAIGHT AHEAD*

*Text: Hebrews 12: 1–4*

The sad thing about human beings is that we get distracted so easily. There are so many influences in our lives now that compete for our attention. Television, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and the Internet all compete for our valuable time.

This is besides our work schedules that take up most of our waking hours. Our days are crammed full of distractions and competing priorities that rob us of "quality time" to spend with our God in prayer and in the study of His Word. It is becoming increasingly difficult to "apportion" our time appropriately and responsibly to spend time with our families, complete our work commitments and have time for our social or spiritual activities as well.

As children of God, we need to set up a "spiritual regime" to formalise our daily schedules around work, spiritual and other social activity. Jesus our Lord made a statement that cuts through all of the "noise" we suffer during our daily lives. He confirms that we need to put Him front and centre of our lives, and not treat Him as a "side-show". We cannot neglect Jesus our Lord and expect God to bless us abundantly.

We cannot learn to imitate someone unless we spend time with them. We need to connect with Jesus daily through his Word and Holy Spirit to enjoy the benefits of our Christian living. We should not be diverted so easily or be distracted so that we start losing sight of Jesus our Lord. We need to go straight ahead in our relationship with God, fix our eyes on Jesus and not be diverted by various worldly interests that take our attention.

_Prayer: Our All-Conquering God, help us to keep our focus on you, and not be distracted by worldly activities around us. May the Holy Spirit convict us when we are in danger of distractions. In Jesus we pray. Amen._

There are seasons when tears seem endless. Disappointments come, prayers appear unanswered, and the heart becomes weary.
But God's Word reminds us that weeping has a season.

Your present pain is not your permanent destiny. God can bring joy after sorrow, restoration after loss, and hope after disappointment.

Don't let today's tears convince you that tomorrow will be the same.
God is still working, even in the night season.

*KEY THOUGHT*

Your tears may be part of today's story, but they do not have to be the ending.

Wipe away every sorrow, restore what has been lost, strengthen the weary, and turn our painful seasons into beautiful testimonies.

A setback does not mean that God has abandoned you. Sometimes, what looks like a loss today becomes the foundation for tomorrow's testimony.

Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, but God used that painful experience to position him for something greater. What was intended for evil became an instrument for good.

Don't allow your disappointment to make you doubt God's purpose.
God can turn your setback into a setup for something greater.

What looks like a setback may be God's way of preparing you for a greater comeback.

*DAILY CALL FOR Tuesday, August 25, 2026*

*TOPIC: THE FIRST STEP OF FAITH*

*Text: Ephesians 5: 1-8*

It is said that every journey starts with the first step. Anyone undertaking a journey on earth hopes that the journey will end well, that they will travel safely from point A to point B.

Some journeys are short, like a shopping trip to local shops or supermarkets. Other journeys take much longer, like driving long distance to another county or state to visit relatives or friends. For every child of God, salvation in Christ is represented as a journey in God's Holy revealed Word. A journey that saved sinners take based on faith. Early Christianity was also referred to and known as "The Way".

However, before we consider our own personal journeys on earth by faith, we need to fully understand the journey our Lord Jesus Christ undertook to bring us salvation. The "Way of Christ" firstly symbolises the journey our Lord made from Heaven to earth. We are told that Jesus is "the Word of God" and he became flesh to dwell among us (John 1: 1, 14). "All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means - God with us" (Matthew 1: 22-23).

The second consideration is our Lord's journey on earth, from his miraculous birth to his self-surrender at Calvary. The third consideration is our Lord's resurrection from the dead and his ascension to Heaven. By faith, anyone entering "the Way of Christ" will discover who Jesus really is; and anyone who believes in Jesus as the Christ, Saviour and Lord will follow him along the way he himself took.

_Prayer: Almighty God, give us the strength and the wisdom to follow our Lord Jesus Christ by faith. Let your Holy Spirit guide us into all truth, as we follow the Way of Christ your Son to Heaven. Amen._
