______________________________

*SATURDAY, 18TH SEPTEMBER, 2021*

*TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 7:3-5*

3. _The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband._
4. _The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife._
5. _Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control._

*TOPIC: LOVE YIELDS*

One of the ways couples can tell each other 'I love you' is in complying to request for conjugal relationship. You pledged to love and give yourselves to each other on your wedding day; it is unfaithfulness not to keep the oath. According to our text, once married, you have no authority over your body, your spouse does. Your response to sexual need shows real love or resentment. Yielding shows obedience to God's command, but denial is disobedience, which can actually lead to temptation. House boys and maids can be assigned to serve in other areas but not in conjugal relationship as often seen in some families. Brethren, conjugal relationship is strictly for the married. Be warned, premarital and extramarital affairs attract God's wrath.

*REFLECTION:* _Unyielding attitudes ruin marriage, watch it._

*PRAYER:* _Please Lord, help couples to yield to each other always. Amen._

*Today's Reading Plan:* _Nahum 1-3_

DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST
COCIN DEVOUTIONAL, JULY, 2019
SUB- THEME: THE BLESSINGS OF PLEASING GOD
MONDAY, 8TH JULY DEUTERONOMY 28:1-8

Deut 28:1-8
If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God:
3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock — the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.
7 The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.
8 The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. NIV
TOPIC: ABUNDANT PROSPERITY I
The Lord is always pleased when his people keep to his commandments and his decrees. In our text, God promised abundant prosperity to his people if only they can fully obey his commands. Today, people run after prosperity without considering the condition attached to it. People are running up and down looking for greener pastures. God has promised to bless us in the city or in the country: (i). He will bless the fruits of our womb (ii). He will bless our crops (iii). He will bless our livestock (iv). He will bless the works of our hands. Do you need God's abundant prosperity in your life? Carefully follow all his commands.
REFLECTION: Follow God's instruction and you will be blessed.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord, for abundant blessings. Amen.

CIVIL WAYS TO COMMUNICATE (Pragmatics)

1. Instead of saying you are lying say THIS IS NOT TRUE

2. Instead of saying this post is fake say ARE YOU SURE OF THIS?

3. Instead of saying you are wrong say THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

4. Instead of saying you will be punished say THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO THIS

5. Instead of saying I am talking and you are not paying attention say I WILL LIKE TO GET YOUR ATTENTION

6. Instead of saying I don't have your time say I WILL LIKE TO END THE CONVERSATION NOW

7. Instead of saying what you are saying does not make sense say IS THERE ANY OTHER OPTION THAN THIS?

8. Instead of saying what you are doing is bad say THIS BEHAVIOR IS INAPPROPRIATE

9.Instead of saying this child is a slow learner say THIS CHILD IS AN UPCOMING LEARNER

10. Instead of saying " get out from here" say PLEASE IT WILL BE APPRECIATED YOU LEAVE THIS PLACE.

SOME SOCIAL RULES THAT MAY HELP US:

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to;

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the other person remembers lending it to you. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes;

3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is giving you a lunch/dinner. If possible ask them to order their choice of food for you;

4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids’ or ‘Why didn’t you buy a house?’ Or why don't you buy a car? For God’s sake it isn’t your problem;

5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public;

6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time;

7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember what's 6 to you will appear 9 to someone facing you. Besides, second opinion is good for an alternative;

SUB-THEME: THE BLESSINGS OF PLEASING GOD.

TOPIC: SEE NO DEATH II.

TEXT: 2 KINGS 2:1-13.
1 As the time drew near when the LORD was about to take Elijah to heaven in a wind storm, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal.
2 Elijah instructed Elisha, “Remain here on this side, please, because the LORD is sending me as far as Bethel.” But Elisha replied, “As the LORD lives, I’m not going to leave you while you’re still alive!” So they both went on to Bethel.
3 When the Guild of Prophets who lived in Bethel came out to greet Elisha, they asked him, “You are aware, aren’t you, that later today the LORD is going to remove your master from being your mentor?” “Of course I’m aware of it,” he said. “Calm down.”
4 Elijah also spoke to him, “Elisha, remain here on this side, please, because the LORD is sending me to Jericho.” But Elisha responded, “As the LORD lives, and while you’re still alive, I’m not going to leave you!” So they went to Jericho.
5 The Guild of Prophets who lived in Jericho approached Elisha and asked him, “You are aware, aren’t you, that later today the LORD is going to remove your master from being your mentor?” “Of course I’m aware of it,” he said. “Calm down.”
6 Elijah also spoke to him, “Elisha, remain here on this side, please, because the LORD is sending me to the Jordan River.” But Elisha responded, “As the LORD lives, and while you’re still alive, I’m not going to leave you!” So they went on their way,
7 accompanied by 50 men from the Guild of Prophets, who stood at a short distance from them while they were both standing by the Jordan.
8 Elijah took off his ornamented cloak, wrapped it up in a roll, struck the water, and all of a sudden the water divided into two parts! One side of the river stood still opposite the other until the two of them crossed over on dry ground.
9 When they had crossed the Jordan River, Elijah invited Elisha, “Ask me what you want me to do for you before I’m taken away from you.” So Elisha

LIVINGWORD.
SATURDAY. JULY 15, 2017.

JESUS said:
Matthew 7:24-27.
“24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”-

What happens when troubles come depends on the type of roots you have.
Will you be blown away or remain?
