Title: Harmony in Business: A Lesson from Hymn 236

One of the ongoing concerns in my business journey has been the rise of competition. We were the first to start a particular line of business in our area, but before long, other stores began opening with similar offerings. Naturally, I began to worry—would our sales drop? Would there still be enough to sustain us?

But during a testimony meeting, something shifted for me. As we sang Hymn 236, the words of the third stanza caught my attention in a new, profound way:

“As stars in their courses never contend,
As blossoms their hues in harmony blend,
As bird voices mingle in joyful refrain,
So God’s loving children in concord remain.”

These words reminded me that God’s creation is not one of conflict, but of harmony. The stars don’t fight for space. Flowers bloom in a wide array of colors, each adding to the beauty of the whole. Birds sing their different songs, yet together they create music, not chaos. Each plays its unique part, perfectly placed in the grand design.

This hymn revealed a spiritual truth I had overlooked: we can all express God's infinite wisdom and intelligence in our individual ways without conflicting with one another. Just as nature is diverse and cooperative, so too can our businesses exist and thrive side by side. There is no lack in divine Mind—there is infinite supply, and no one is excluded from it.

Rather than fearing competition, I now see it as part of a larger harmony. My focus has shifted from defending my space to expressing my unique purpose and trusting in divine provision. In doing so, I am reminded that when we each act from a place of love, intelligence, and service, everyone is blessed—and there is enough for all.

A Christian Science Perspective on World Peace.

From a Christian Science standpoint, world peace is not merely the cessation of warfare or the balancing of political powers. It is the natural outgrowth of spiritual understanding the realization of the allness of God, divine Love, and the nothingness of evil. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “The enslavement of man is not legitimate. It will cease when man enters into his heritage of freedom, his God-given dominion over the material senses” (p. 228). True peace begins with spiritual dominion an inner calm and authority that comes from knowing that man is governed by God, not by fear, conflict, or mortal mind.

Christian Science teaches that peace is not dependent on external conditions, but on divine consciousness. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you” (John 14:27). The Christly peace is a spiritual quality, rooted in the eternal nature of divine Mind. It is not vulnerable to political unrest or material instability. Instead, it is maintained through a spiritual understanding of God’s omnipotence and omnipresence. When we perceive God as the only power and presence, we see that hatred, rivalry, and fear have no divine sanction and therefore no true authority.

The metaphysical basis of peace lies in the acknowledgment that all men and nations reflect the one divine Mind. There is no clash in infinite Mind, and there are no conflicting identities within God’s creation. Eddy affirms in Science and Health, “The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man” (p. 284). This statement implies that true communication spiritual understanding and harmony already exists among God’s children and cannot be interrupted by race, nationality, or material boundaries. As individuals align their thought with this truth, they become active peacemakers, contributing to the unfoldment of a divine order that includes no war, hatred, or division.

Christian Science also reveals that war is the outcome of mental warfare the belief in many minds, separate wills, and conflicting self-interests. The solution, therefore, is metaphysical: to eliminate the belief in duality and to affirm the indivisible oneness of divine Mind and its manifestation. Peace is not something to be negotiated on human terms alone; it is a divine law to be understood and demonstrated. As Eddy writes in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, “God is universal, confined to no spot, defined by no dogma, appropriated by no sect. He is our Father and our Mother, our Minister and the great Physician: He is man’s only real relative on earth and in heaven” (p. 150).

The promise of peace is fulfilled as thought is lifted above the mortal sense of life to spiritual reality. World peace, then, is not an elusive dream but a present possibility one that must be demonstrated individually and collectively through the conscious practice of divine Love. Each prayer that acknowledges God’s supremacy and man’s spiritual identity is a powerful force for good, breaking the mesmerism of conflict and revealing the harmony that is already established in divine Mind. As the prophet Isaiah foretold, “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9).

Thoughts from the bible lesson of today:

John 4:24 KJV -
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Luke 24:39 ....spirit has no flesh and bones

Gen 1:27 God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: make and female created he them

Therefore we are all spiritual children of God

James 1: 17 Every good and perfect gift comes from above

So all wisdom, intelligence, provision, sound health and mind, confidence comes from God, Spirit

Eph 5:14- Wherefore he saith - Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

*Christ* . The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error (Science and Health p 583:10)

Incarnate means "invested with flesh or bodily nature and form, especially with human nature and form,"

John 4:6 We are of God:

Matt 5: 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
