(Psalm 18:29).
When all you see is obstacles, it is a sign of a perverted mind.
The Bible says the mind of man is very wicked.
Therefore, when you get born again it is a fundamental requirement if you are going to enjoy the victorious life in Christ that you renew your mind.
Let me go a step further to say that to the degree you renew your mind to that same degree will you enjoy the blessings of the recreated life.
Your spirit is regenerated according to Paul’s letter to Titus.
Your body must be brought to subjection because it cannot be redeemed.
But your mind must be renewed.
What does it mean for your mind to be renewed?
It means to bring your thoughts into alignment with the configuration of your new nature.
If you have ever wondered why your mind thinks things that make you doubt your salvation, it is because even though you are born again in your spirit, your mind is not born again.
Holiness is a function of your thoughts.
You are holy or unholy based on your thoughts not on your actions.
It is thoughts that produce action. People can carry out holy actions with unholy intent.
You are as God as can be to the degree your thoughts come into alignment with His thoughts.
God’s word is the tool to renew and retrain your mind.
In Isaiah He says, “Let the wicked forsake his ways and the unrighteous man his thoughts.”
Abraham the father of faith lied, but he believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness because righteousness is a function of thoughts.
In Corinthians Paul says we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and John says as he is, so are we in this world.
If that is ever going to become our experience, we must renew our minds.
The disciples asked Jesus what to do to work the works of God, and Jesus said it is to believe. Believe is a function of thoughts.
When all you see is obstacles, and hindrances, and failure, and defeat it is a sign that you are not thinking like God.
If as He is, so are we in this world, then you must put a word-spin on every situation.
What this means is that you must think like God will think in any situation. How does God think?
He makes a way in the wilderness, and He gives rivers in the desert.
He is the God of hope, and He can hope against hope.
So even when there is no hope in a situation, He hopes on the fact that there is something called “hope,” therefore there is no hopeless situation.
Jesus said if you destroy this temple, I will raise it up in three days.
Death is the ultimate hopelessness, but even in death our God sees a resurrection.
To the blind He gave sight, He made the lame walk, He gave speech to the dumb, and He opened the ears of the deaf.
He multiplied five loaves of bread and two fish and fed 5,000 hungry men not counting women and children.
He parted the Red Sea. You should never be in a situation and think there is no way out, when you stand before a wall of Jericho you must see it fall, when you come before a Red Sea, you must see it part.
Why? You are a child of The God who sees possibilities even in obstacles.
