PRAYING WITH REVELATION UNTO REVELATION

PART 5

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. Rom. 10:1-2

The heart’s desire and prayer of every believer who is growing in revelation knowledge of God’s Word should be that many more would come into the light of the glorious gospel. When you have truly seen the light, you can’t afford to be silent. It is either you are praying or preaching!

Paul tells us why those who are lost are still lost. “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Cor. 4:3-4). Firstly, The god of this world has blinded their minds. He later told the Ephesian church that these same people have their “... understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.” (Eph. 4:18). It takes an enlightened mind to receive and believe the gospel.

Secondly, they have not heard the gospel, hence preachers have to preach to them (Rom. 10:14-15). And every believer has been called to preach the gospel (Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15- 18).

When Jesus saw the multitude scattered and distressed, He told His disciples that the harvest was truly plentiful but the workers or labourers were few. Then He asked them to pray to the Lord of harvest to send workers into the harvest field. I like the way the Amplified Bible translated this verse “ So pray to the Lord of the harvest to FORCE OUT and THRUST labourers into His harvest” (Matt. 9:38 Amp.). Prayer dispatches the preacher and gives him boldness to preach the gospel fearlessly and tirelessly (Acts 4:29-31).

We are also encouraged to pray for all men in 1 Tim 2:1-6 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”

A quiet and peaceful life which is in godliness and honesty is one lived to pray for all men including kings and all who are in authority. This scripture enjoins us to pray for their salvation not particularly for their government. It is so that they might be saved and come to the knowledge of truth.

It is a Christian duty to pray for the lost and also reach out to them by preaching. The heart beat of God is evangelism. He doesn’t want any to perish, but all to come to repentance (2 Pet. 3:9). Praying for others is a sign of healthy Christian living. We ought to continually give ourselves to prayer and the ministry (preaching) of the Word like the apostles of old did (Acts 6:4).

PRAYING WITH REVELATION UNTO REVELATION

PART 4

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” Eph. 6:18.

We have seen thus far that prayer in the New Testament has a purpose and it is done for a purpose. It is to the intent that our eyes of understanding may be enlightened. We pray that we might be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding and by this, we walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing being fruitful in every good work, then we further increase in the knowledge of God (Col. 1:9-11). The more you know God, the more you realise that there are far more important things to pray about than mundane things of this life. Our ultimate desire is to please the One who gave Himself for us (2 Cor. 5:14-15).

We have also examined the fact that there are prayer points already prescribed for us. Now, you will observe that majority of these prayers were prayed for other believers. True New Testament inspired prayers are selfless, in other words, you are not said to be labouring in prayer until others take the centre stage! All Paul’s prayers were prayed for other believers and he requested that they should pray for him too. Revelation places a huge responsibility on us for others. When we pray for other believers, it is not as though they cannot pray for themselves because in actual fact, every believer has a direct access to the Father through the blood of Jesus (Heb. 10:19-21), it is rather a mark of love and brotherly affection.

Our text states that we should pray always in the Spirit and watch in the same with perseverance and supplication for all saints. Supplication is an attitude with which you pray. It is a burning and all consuming desire to see other lives changed by the power of God’s Word through prayer. Weymouth’s translation of Eph. 6:18 says “Pray with unceasing prayer and entreat on every fitting occasion in the Spirit, no always on alert to seize opportunities for doing so, with unwearied persistence and entreaty on behalf of all God’s people”

To pray “in the Spirit” means to pray in tongues! “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit IN THE SPIRIT he speaketh mysteries”(1 Cor. 14:2). God has given us a way by which we can be selfless and ceaseless in prayer, it is by praying in tongues with God’s people as our primary focus!

Start today by praying for the spiritual development of all believers around the world using these Pauline prayers as your focus. Gal. 4:19; Eph. 1:17-23; 3:14-20; Phil. 1:9-11; Col. 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 3:10.

Pray for ministers of the gospel who are labouring in preaching and teaching for more utterance, boldness and deliverance from evil men who oppose the preaching and the hearing of the gospel. Rom. 15:30-31; Eph. 6:19-20; Col. 4:3; 1Cor. 16: 9; 2Thess. 3:1-2; Acts. 4:30.

You cannot say you don’t know what to pray for any more! Praying for others will add vigour and consistency to you prayer life. We’ll conclude tomorrow by looking at the last group of people we were instructed to pray for.

It’s time to pray!

PRAYING WITH REVELATION UNTO REVELATION

PART 3

The most important thing we ought to pray about for ourselves and other believers is concerning spiritual growth. And knowledge is the main ingredient of spiritual growth. Jesus prayed for his disciples for the same purpose: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (Jn.17:3). Peter stated “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen”(2 Pet. 3:18).

The reason for the ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers given to the Body of Christ is to help and ensure believers (saints) grow up in the knowledge of Christ. “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” (Eph. 4:11 -15).

When we pray, we pray with this purpose in mind. Paul’s letters are replete with prayers that centre around growing in the knowledge of God. We’ve examined Ephesians 1:17-23 in the previous parts of this teaching series.
Let’s look at more. “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness” (Col. 1:9-11).
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Eph. 3:14-20).

This is about strength that fills our hearts through the comprehension of the love of Christ. He tells us this knowledge passes human intellect, it fills your mind with all the fullness of God. When you have a revelation of God’s love for you, it causes your love for God and others to abound. “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God” (Phil. 1:9-11).

These are New Testament inspired prayer points. You don’t have to export prayer points from just anywhere! We have them clearly written to the church. This is how we pray, with the revelation of God’s Word which leads us to further revelation of God.

PRAYING WITH REVELATION UNTO REVELATION

PART 2

“I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you to constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you wisdom to see clearly and really understand who Christ is and all that he has done for you. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can see something of the future he has called you to share. I want you to realize that God has been made rich because we who are Christ’s have been given to him! I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him...” (Eph. 1: 16 -19) The Living Bible.

Prayer begins with revelation and leads to further revelation. Revelation is a spiritual insight into all that God the Father has done for us in Christ. It comes through the window of an enlightened mind. A lot of praying goes on today which are not born out of revelation. Many see prayer as going through the motions! Lips are moving but lives are not changing. Some think prayer is all about making requests for physical or material things from God, but this kind of praying is not exclusive to believers. It may shock you to realise that Christians don’t have a monopoly of God! He hears and answers the prayers of all the living! They don’t have to know Him before they make request to Him. The Psalmist said “O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall ALL FLESH come” (Ps. 65:2). “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles” (Ps. 34:6). The word “poor” in this verse is used for spiritual deprivation not necessarily physical or material want. It means anybody including those who are not spiritually connected to God can ask for whatever they need and He hears and answers. Jesus who was God’s expression on the earth demonstrated His love and kindness to all men including the Gentiles by healing their sick loved ones. Jesus answered the prayers of all who called out to Him. He is God to every human on earth but He is a Father to us. The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Prayer takes a new dimension to the believer. Our modus operandi for prayer has to change once we become Christians. We should not be concerned about mundane or ephemeral things like “Lord, give me a car...” “Oh God, I need a wife...”, “Please Father, can you just make that contract deal a reality?”. These and many more kinds of prayer cease as we grow up spiritually. Our desire in prayer changes. All we want is to know our Father more, fellowship with Him more and do more for Him! Paul said “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death” Phil. 3:10

The epistles or the Pauline epistles particularly show us what our prayers should focus on. We will begin to examine this tomorrow. Do have a blessed day.

16/02/2026

PRAYING WITH REVELATION UNTO REVELATION

PART 1

“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places” Eph. 1:16-20

If there is anything every believer needs, it is a clear, precise and accurate knowledge of God’s Word. This kind of knowledge is referred to as Epignosis in the epistles written to the churches. It was used 20 times in the epistles. This kind of knowledge helps you to recognise and appreciate what has been freely given to you in Christ. “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” (Philemon 6). The Greek word translated to “acknowledging” in this verse is also Epignosis. The participation or the sharing of your faith becomes more and more effective as you accurately recognise every good thing in you in Christ Jesus.

I love to say it this way, if it is in you, it is in Christ and if it is not in Christ, it is not in you. There are no bad things in you! All are good because of the goodness of Jesus. God does not see you in the light of your bad thoughts or behaviours, He sees you in the light of the goodness of His Son, Christ Jesus! And you must endeavour to see yourself that same way.

Another thing we can deduce from Philemon 6 is the fact that the good things Paul spoke about are in us! The life of a believer is not one that concentrates on the outside. It is not lived from the outside, though it is seen by men on the outside, but the journey begins from the inside! It’s all in you!

When we pray for ourselves and other believers, we pray like Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus. We pray for revelation in the knowledge of Christ, that the eyes of our minds will be flooded with light to know all that God the Father has placed IN US. The hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in us the saints and the exceeding greatness of His power which is also in us!
Let your prayer language change! Synchronise your thoughts and words with the realities of Christ in you. The more you pray these prayers, the more you will see things about yourself that you have not seen before.

Are you ready to pray? Say these words out loud “Father in the Name of Jesus, I receive today the wisdom of your Spirit and revelation in the knowledge of your Son, Christ Jesus. The eyes of my mind are flooded with light, I know the hope to which you have called me, I also know the riches of the glory of your inheritance in me and the greatness of your power which is at work in me”.

Now, begin to pray in tongues...

Yesterday, before I got into the nitty-gritty of my teaching lesson at our weekly Bible Study, I spoke a little about my so called spiritual adventures and sojourns as a highly impressionable younger believer.

I traveled the length and breath of Nigeria looking for revelations, powerful teachers and deep bible truths. This was mostly in the 90's.

My father warned me at some points but I didn't listen. I went to Conferences and Conventions in Ibadan, Lagos, Ile ife, Ilesa, Akure and Gboko, Benue State. I was looking for what was not missing.

Yes, I was hungry for spiritual and supernatural experiences. I wanted more, so I thought. The more meetings I attended, the more confused I was. I listened to several preachers who contradicted themselves which at some points led me into a form of esoterism.

My Christian walk took a new meaning when I sat my butt down in a local church. I grew exponentially. At this point, I began to have a healthy and systematic theology. The reason I'm stable in my persuasion today was because I stopped running up and down. God's Word began to flourish in my heart. I became useful to God and those around me. Several times, my pastor looked me in the eye and corrected me. God rescued my soul from self destruction. My name is Adedayo Fiyinfoluwa Ponnle, I'm a living testimony of how a local church can transform a man.

If you are a roving believer, jumping from one place to another, one church social media page to another, looking for the latest "grace preacher" online and on ground with views that align with your distorted belief system. Christian conduct seems not to be your forte. Accountability and responsibility don't exist in your dictionary. You are only accountable to God; not to designated spiritual authority as instituted in the local church. You could even be trying out churches. This Sunday you are in one, next Sunday you are in another. That's not God's plan for you. He wants you in a place where you will be accountable and responsible. Trust Him to guide you. You will never find a perfect one in the natural but there is a perfect one for you in His plan for your life.

Restlessness is not a fruit of the Spirit. The good Shepherd like the Psalmist said "...maketh to LIE DOWN in green pastures: he leadeth beside the STILL WATERS" The posture for a true sheep is a lying down posture where there is stillness of water. Go for still waters not the roaring of the oceans. God's pattern is stability not sensibility. The local church may not make sense to you but it will cause you to be stable in your walk with the Lord.

WALKING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE FATHER’S LOVE

Often we think we need a big revelation of God in the Word, while what we just need is a constant reminder of what God is already big on! God is big on love! No other revelation of God is bigger than this! Love is who He is. Love was why He gave us Jesus. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16).
Love is the reason we have forgiveness of sins.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (Eph. 2:4-5).
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 Jn. 4:9-10)

Love gave us sonship.
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God” (1 Jn. 3:1-2). Now we are members of His family because of His love, we are accepted in the beloved (Eph. 1:6).

The Holy Spirit in our hearts is a proof of the Father’s love. That was what Paul meant when he said “...the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us (Rom. 5:5). The term “shed abroad” simply means to bestow or lavish copiously. What He gave was His Spirit, how He gave his Spirit was as a result of His love for us which He lavishly poured forth.

Love to God was not an emotional rush or a mere adrenaline pumping exercise, but it was a decision, an action, a sacrifice. Love to God was not a show but a flow of His eternal plan of salvation and its ex*****on. Love is more than a noun, it is a verb!

Love shouldn’t mean anything less to a believer. Love shouldn’t be “scratch my back and I scratch yours” It is not a repay of something good done to us. We love because the Father has taught us to love.
Apostle Paul made an amazing statement in his first letter to the church in Thessalonica “But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another” (1 Thess. 4:9). How were they taught this love? Because He gave us Christ without any string attached. It was selfless and sacrificial!

Jesus taught same when He said “...Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 5:44-45). This is the Father through the Son has taught us

We love because He loved, same way He loved. In His footsteps we walk...we forgive because He forgave us “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye” ( Col. 3:12-13).

We love His divine way not our human way! “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour” (Eph. 5:2). His nature of love is in us “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Gal. 5:22-23).

We must endeavour to avoid the landmines of bitterness, malice, unforgiveness, anger, evil speaking, gossip etc by choosing to go on God’s highway of love.

Just the other day, while I was going through some documents on my study desk, I stumbled on a copy of an assignment given to some church members years back. I had told them to list out the characteristics of God’s love as mentioned by Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 13 but beautifully amplified by the Amplified Bible. I picked it up and confessed those words same way I taught those I initially gave this assignment to do. You too can make these characteristics your personal confession! Just go ahead and replace the word “love” with your name or personal pronoun “I”
Love endures long and kind. ( e.g. I endure long and I’m kind)
Love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy
Love is not boastful or vain glorious
Love does not display itself haughty, it is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride)
Love is not rude, it does not act unbecomingly
God’s love in us does not insist on its own rights or its own way for it is not self seeking
Love is not touchy or fretful or resentful
God’s love in us takes no account of the evil done to it ( it pays no attention to a suffered wrong)
Love does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness but rejoices when right and truth prevails
Love bears up under anything and everything that comes
Love is ever ready to believe the best of every person, it’s hopes are fadeless under all circumstances
Love endures everything without weakening

Love never fails (never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end)

What about February 14?

Are we to celebrate Valentine?

Who was Valentine? Saint or Sinner?

What does the day represent? Sacrificial love or sensual lust?

It is very easy for a Christian to be caught up in debates, trying to make sense out of an event that is popularly and widely celebrated like Valentine’s day . Our posture to any day or event should be scriptural and spiritual. Paul instructed us “And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Rom 12:2). We are intimated with what is acceptable to God through the renewing of our minds with the Word of God or else we will find ourselves conforming to the world. It’s funny today to realize that anywhere the world goes, the church seems to go.

Since the beginning of the month of February this year, I have observed with utter disdain a lot of programmes organised by some churches to commemorate February 14th. Such programmes are tagged “Love, s*x and lasting relationships ” “Couples love uncut” “Valentine love for victorious believers” “Valentine for Singles” and the most ridiculous of them all is “Achieving s*xual or**sm in Christian marriage” It is rather shameful and unfortunate.

Can you imagine Apostle Peter or Paul or Pastor Timothy organising a programme with any of these Hollywood titles?

Not possible, right?.

The excuses pastors give today are “Well, we don’t want our people to use the day or period for anything evil or immoral, if we don’t engage them, they will go and hang out with their unbelieving friends in debauchery and reckless lifestyle, if we don’t teach them, Hollywood or Nollywood will teach them wrong stuff” Such excuses are flimsy and unnecessary.
Society or culture should not tell us what is acceptable, what is seemingly acceptable culturally may not be acceptable scripturally. Society is not a guiding compass for believers. Our approach to any issue should always be “What does the Scripture say?”

Having said that, It is note worthy that the name “Valentine” cannot be found in the bible, like you cannot find “Adedayo” there. His historical account whether through Google or The Catholic Church does not have a scriptural significance to the point where we give it a spiritual reference.

I don’t need Valentine’s so called “sacrificial works” to inspire me to do good works ( that is if what we read about him were true), I draw my inspiration from the instructions in the scriptures. You see, inspiration drawn from men or their works can only last for the day they are being remembered while the one drawn from the scriptures lasts forever.
The scriptures show me that it is my nature to give sacrificially. I can only find my true identity in the scriptures, Valentine is not my mentor in giving, Jesus is!

When you flip the coin, Valentine represents sensual or s*xual love to many people in the world today. “Who is your Val?” some ask. You hear couples wish themselves “Happy Valentine’s day” Some believers are caught in this web. Let me frankly tell you that if you have to wait till February 14th to express your love to your spouse, then you are on a dangerous path. You know, colour “red” represents danger too (laughs).

Christian couples ought to see love expression or demonstration as a lifestyle and not an occasional display of emotions. Love in a Christian marriage goes beyond what is said or felt to what is done, it includes forbearance and forgiveness, selflessness and togetherness. The bible says “God is love” and not “Valentine is love” Bible love is not a “gush” nor a “rush” of adrenaline, it is a Person, God is!

Therefore what is the business of believers with Valentine’s celebration? None! Don’t even say my “Val” is Jesus because I have heard a single Christian sister say that before. However we must seize every day, every event, every occasion to preach Christ. He is the love of God revealed to us! (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 5:8; 8:32). His death remains the greatest sacrifice in human history! No love story like redemption, no special gift like eternal life! Preach this Christ at work, in your neighbourhood, anywhere you find yourself today and everyday!

The new creation does not treat a day better than the other, he is free from the opinion of men but bound by the royal law of love (Jam 2:8). Let’s put on charity everyday as the Scriptures command and not a mere cloth with a touch of red occasionally (Col. 3:14).

It’s a great day for you!

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH LOVE?

Love , a four letter word, looks very simple but one of the most misunderstood words in our world.

Feels easy to say but more often than not, very difficult to practice

Love is both a noun and a verb
Its impact is felt when it is acted upon not when it is said

Love is a force, it is also a choice

A choice that goes beyond an emotional rush
A force that crushes every iota of selfishness in us.

TWO major characteristics of love are
Giving and
Forgiving
Love gives atimes to the very detriment of himself
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (Jh 3:16).

He gave us His Son on the cross....
“My Father, my Father why have you forsaken me” The Son said
He had become one with our sins at this point
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2Cor. 5:21).

This was God teaching us how to love
“But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another” (1 Thess. 4:9).
What God did in Christ has become an example to us

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 Jn. 3:16).
He laid down His life and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren...this is both legendary and exemplary..

Then John the Apostle shows us how not to walk in love in the next verse
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth (1Jn.3:16-17).

Seeing a fellow believers in need and you have the wherewithaI to meet that need, if you shut your bowels of compassion or inward affection, this is regarded as refusal to walk in love.

In fact Apostle John questioned “How dwelleth the love of God in him?”

Love must be demonstrated through sacrificial giving before it can be regarded as God’s love
Our giving is not for show, it is prompted and motivated by love

And love does not haughtily display itself...
When you give to the poor or the needy and put it on TV, this is not love, it is self centeredness
“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing” (I Cor. 13:3).

The profit here is God’s reward
Jesus warned:
“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 6:1).

The other aspect of walking in love is forgiveness

This deals with letting go of offences, bitterness and malice.

“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you” (Eph. 4:31-32).

As long as you are on this side of heaven, men will do you wrong. It can’t be all smooth a journey here. Once you make up your mind to act on the scriptures, you have freed yourself from any weight of bitterness and unforgiveness.

We forgive because God in Christ Jesus has forgiven us

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness” (Col. 3:12-14).
