TOUCH MY EYES, LORD
Our anchor scripture for today:
"And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink."
(Gen.21:19)
One of the ironies of life is that in a world filled with limitless opportunities, many still walk through being totally ignorant of available resources. The result is that some die in penury, passing through many destiny changing chances without recognizing them. Sadly, an opportunity that you do not recognize, you cannot harness. How far can we go except the Lord opens our eyes?
Abraham had sent Hagar away with Ishmael, her son. Far into their journey, they ran out of
water and the child was dying. At the surface, one would say it was lack of water that was the problem. A deeper look reveals that water was already made available by God but Hagar could not see it. Eyes that look and eyes that see are, sometimes, worlds apart. When God opened her eyes, she saw water, more than enough for her baby to drink.
A man who sees what other people cannot see will attract things that they cannot attract. You cannot afford to pass through life blind. When Elisha and his servant were surrounded by enemy forces, his servant was perplexed but Elisha held his peace. Then, Elisha prayed God to open his eyes and he saw that the armies of God surrounded them against the enemies. When God opens a man's eyes, he becomes aware of angelic help.
