Shrove Tuesday✝️
-A Call to Prepare Our Hearts-

Today, we celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the sacred day that leads us into the holy season of Lent. It is a day of reflection, repentance, and preparation. Traditionally, Christians examine their hearts, seek forgiveness, and prepare spiritually for the 40-day journey toward Easter.

As we stand at the doorway of Lent, may we surrender our burdens, renew our faith, and draw closer to God. Let this season be a time of prayer, sacrifice, charity, and deeper love for Christ.

May this Shrove Tuesday remind us that every ending is a new beginning — and every act of repentance opens the door to grace.

*SAINT STEPHEN AND THE PERSECUTED FAITH: A Nigerian Perspective*

Saint Stephen, one of the first deacons, was full of faith and the Holy Spirit. He preached boldly about Jesus and became the first Christian martyr when he was stoned for his faith (Acts 7:54–60). In Nigeria today, many Christians face rejection or violence for their faith, making Stephen’s witness deeply relevant.

*Faith Amid Persecution*

Stephen showed that following Christ may bring suffering. Even while dying, he forgave his attackers and entrusted himself to God. Jesus warned that his followers would face persecution. Young missionaries in Nigeria, often working in tense or unsafe environments, are called to be courageous, patient, and loving in spreading the Gospel, following the guidance of and trusting God in all hardships.

*Lessons for Young Missionaries:* As missionaries, we must:

* *Be Courageous* : Speak the truth about Christ boldly.

* *Forgive* : Respond to hostility with love and peace.

* *Be Faithful* : Trust God through suffering.

* *Be Witnesses* : Live the Gospel through service and prayer.

In all, Saint Stephen teaches Nigerian Christians, especially young missionaries, that true faith may involve suffering but leads to courage, forgiveness, and spiritual strength. His life inspires believers to trust God and witness Christ even in challenging circumstances.

St. Stephen... Pray for us 🙏

FACT FOR TODAY: *SALT -VS- RICE*
If you were to cook 3 cups of rice, would you add 3 cups of salt to it? Certainly not!
So, in every preparation of rice, the rice always "outnumbers" the salt, yet a little salt makes a *huge difference/impact* in the overall outcome.
In the room in which you currently are, look up at the ceiling...
What is the size of the bulb compared to the size of the room? It is probably a ratio of 1:5000. Yet, "darkness flees" the entire space once the small bulb is "flipped on".
If I am the salt of the earth, and the light of the world, then "little me" has the ability to make big things happen.
Sometimes, because we feel "outnumbered or overwhelmed at the sheer magnitude of evil or wrong-doers", we then choose powerlessness, and decide to go with the flow, not standing up for what we believe is right.
Little doesn't mean insignificant. You are "significant".
Your presence should make a *BIG* difference.
Stop waiting to be on the side of the majority. They may be the majority, but they are the "trivial majority", and you are the "impactful minority".
They are the "rice of the world", and you are the "salt of the world".
They are the "room", and you are the "light".
Make your influence felt!
Never forget to remember, that "You are the world's seasoning".

Ash Wednesday is one of the most popular and important holy days in the liturgical calendar. Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer.

Ashes on forehand
Ash Wednesday takes place 46 days before Easter Sunday, and is chiefly observed by Catholics, although many other Christians observe it too.

Ash Wednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us. As the priest applies the ashes to a person's forehead, he speaks the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
