PARENTING RULES BY SUSANNA WESLEY

Susannah Wesley was the mother of 19 children, including John and Charles Wesley. Though, Nine died as infants. Through much adversity, she dedicated her life to instilling a sense of Christian Destiny into each of her children. Her children went on to change the world.

Here are 15 rules she laid down in her home.
1. Eating between meals not allowed.
2. As children they are to be in bed by 8 p.m.
3. They are required to take medicine without complaining.
4. Subdue self- will in a child, and those working together with God to save the child’s soul.
5. To teach a child to pray as soon as he can speak.
6. Require all to be still during Family Worship.
7. Give them nothing that they cry for, and only that when asked for politely.
8. To prevent lying, punish no fault which is first confessed and repented of.
9. Never allow a sinful act to go unpunished.
10. Never punish a child twice for a single offense.
11. Comment and reward good behavior.
12. Any attempt to please, even if poorly performed, should be commended.
13. Preserve property rights, even in smallest matters.
14. Strictly observe all promises.
15. Require no daughter to work before she can read well.


ON DISCIPLINE
Susannah Wesley believed that for a child to grow into a self-disciplined adult, he/she must first be a parent-disciplined child. To her, the stubborn flesh was the hardest battle for Christians to fight, and Godly parents would do well to equip their children to overcome it early.

She writes:

When the will of a child is totally subdued, and it is
brought to revere and stand in awe of the parents, then a great many childish follies may be passed by. I insist on the conquering of the will of children betimes, because this is the only strong and rational foundation of a religious education when this is thoroughly done, then a child is capable of being governed by reason and piety.

Anger affects your cardiovascular health and mental wellbeing

The part of the brain that responds first when anger strikes is AMYGDALA. It’s located deep within the temporal lobe of the brain. The AMYGDALA Processes a magnitude of information, accessing possible dangers within milliseconds; allowing you to react first and think later.

Above the amygdala lies the (frontal lobe) ability to make decisions, solve problems and behavior. When anger hits, blood rushes through the frontal cortex clouding rational thought; depending on the person, this reaction is violent and harmful most at times.

The effect of anger continues as the stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol saturate the system giving one an added strength and energy. This redirects blood flowing to the stomach and intestines to the muscles instead, in preparation to fight. Your blood pressure and temperature rise above normal, breathing and heart rate increase, the pupils dilate (enlarge).
If you’re one who is constantly battling with anger, you’re putting your health at a much higher risk for coronary heart disease or heart attack.

The men's programme, in line with the Global Fathers' day celebration comes to a climax today.

Yesterday was Day 2 of it and bullet points were collated for your mental collection and assimilation.

We got to know that 'Father' can be seen 963 times in the Bible and this speaks of relevance and responsibility.
A father is planted as a God in his household or territory and it further takes real men to protect, build and develop their homes.
Fatherhood isn't a function of Age or Childbearing but that of responsibility and a lifestyle of obeisance.
The speaker went further to iterate that "An atmosphere filled with sarcasm, criticism and condemnation only brings provocation and not sound teaching". Wow! This alone is a technical knockout!
Also, one can't bring up Godly children if he doesn't carry same Godly characters he seeks in his wards. You can only give what you have. That Is to say, a fraudulent father can only groom rogues and robbers. Wow! so much for one night.
A mental punch was launched with this statement, " What makes your kids successful is not what you give to them but the virtues you install in them"

The Speaker, Bro Nkemjika cited Hebrews 11:1-17,23-27; in admitting the fact that a parent can know the destiny of their child and groom them to fit into such purpose. the parents of Moses understood that he was a 'proper' child hence, his upbringing and training wasn't joked with, even for a second. Little wonder he was a deliverance mantle in Egypt. This testimony can be brought home. That Child you see, can be the next senator or governor in your state, delivering landmark policies and judgements, the leaders of tomorrow indeed.

Live correctly as parents because behaving like an adult aids the maturity of your children.

We stand boldly daily, thanks to to the finished work of Calvary.

Consequently, the Pentecost birthed a restless and thirsty generation of God-seekers.
In the desert and low places, seeds are being planted and the move of God is still fresh and active.
Mediocrity and Indifference has never been once spotted as a sign of the flowing revival.

It's either the Revival is on or you're in dire need of it.
