*DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD, IS OBEDIENCE TO THE DEVIL.*
TEXT:
Jonah 1:1-4.
MESSAGE:
In Jonah 1:1-4, we see the story of Jonah, a prophet of God. The verse begins by stating that the word of the Lord came to Jonah, instructing him to go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against its wickedness. However, instead of obeying God's command, Jonah chooses to flee from the presence of the Lord.
Jonah boards a ship headed in the opposite direction of Nineveh, hoping to escape from the task given to him by God. But as we know, disobedience to God's will never leads to true freedom. While Jonah is on the ship, God sends a great wind that causes a violent storm. The sailors on the ship are terrified and each cries out to their own god for help.
In this story, we can see the consequences of Jonah's disobedience. His actions not only put his own life in danger but also affect those around him. The storm intensifies, and the sailors realize that Jonah is the cause of their misfortune. They cast lots to determine who is responsible, and the lot falls on Jonah.
Jonah admits to the sailors that he is fleeing from the Lord, and he tells them to throw him into the sea to calm the storm. Reluctantly, the sailors comply and throw Jonah overboard. As soon as Jonah is thrown into the sea, the storm ceases, and the sea becomes calm.
This story serves as a powerful reminder that disobedience to God's commands can lead us down a destructive path. When we choose to disobey, we not only distance ourselves from God but also open ourselves up to the influence of the enemy. In this case, Jonah's disobedience brought chaos and danger not only to himself but also to those around him.
It's important for us to remember that obedience to God is not always easy, but it leads to blessings, peace, and a deeper relationship with Him. When we choose to follow God's will, we align ourselves with His perfect plan for our lives. So let's strive to be obedient to God, knowing that in doing so, we are walking in His light and protection.
