The Truth.
One major challenge we face in believing God is that we often judge Him based on human nature and character. However, the Bible makes it clear that God is not a man (Numbers 23:19). Unlike humans, who are prone to failure, forgetfulness, and inconsistency, God is unwavering in His love and faithfulness.
Isaiah 49:15 reminds us of this truth: "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you." Even a mother, because she is human, may forget or fail in her responsibilities, but God will never forget nor fail us.
God’s Forgiveness is Absolute
Due to our human understanding of justice and retribution, we struggle to accept that God can completely forgive us. We find it difficult to believe that no matter how sinful or notorious we have been, God offers us a clean slate.
Isaiah 1:18 affirms this: "Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool." This means that when we genuinely turn to Him, He forgives and restores us entirely.
God Loves Us Unconditionally
Many struggle to grasp the depth of God's love, believing they must earn His favor. However, Romans 5:8 reassures us: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Unlike man, who may love conditionally, God’s love remains constant, irrespective of our past.
We Don't Need to Cut Corners to Succeed
In a world where success is often associated with cunning strategies, ruthlessness, and compromise, God assures us that integrity and righteousness bring true success.
Psalm 75:6-7 declares: "For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He puts down one, and exalts another." Trusting God wholeheartedly brings success without sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).
Trusting God in All Things
Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Yet, we often struggle to place full confidence in Him, fearing that He might fail us. Unlike man, who can make promises and fail, God is faithful (Hebrews 10:23).
Jesus Intercedes for Us
One of the greatest assurances we have is that Jesus Christ continually intercedes for us before the Father.
Hebrews 7:25 declares: "Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." This means that even in our weaknesses and struggles, Jesus is advocating on our behalf, ensuring that we receive grace and mercy.
Serving God with a Sincere Heart.
Many serve God with selfish motives, doubting His ability to reward faithfulness. However, Hebrews 11:6 tells us: "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
Unlike human employers, who may shortchange their workers, God delights in the prosperity of His servants (Psalm 35:27).
God’s Ways and Thoughts are Higher
Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us: "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."
God is eternally seeking ways to bless, uplift, and help us. He cannot deceive us because it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18).
God Gave His Best – What Will He Withhold?
Romans 8:32 states: "He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
If God gave His only Son for our salvation, there is nothing good that He will withhold from us.
Stop Judging God by Human Standards
If we continue to judge God by human behavior, we will struggle to fully enjoy His promises and fulfill His plans for our lives.
Man may fail, but God never fails (Joshua 21:45).
Man may abandon, but God never abandons (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Man may take from you, but God gives to you (John 10:10).
In conclusion
God desires us to reflect His holiness, wisdom, and strength, and He blesses us according to His purpose. While He empowers us spiritually, material riches and power are given according to His will and for His glory (Revelation 5:12). No man desires this for us; rather, they prefer us to remain subservient. But God’s desire is for us to rise and reign with Him.
Let us, therefore, change our perspective and embrace the truth about God.
He is not like man. He is faithful, just, loving, and true!
