One of the things that causes me to have great respect for certain men of God is that their children know the Lord and not just know him but also serve him diligently. For me a mark of true anointing is the result it delivers. I'm not impressed with numbers nor rankings nor wealth in ministry if your children are not saved. Your outward success is nothing if you fail inward. I'd rather my family be saved and heaven bound than to head what in man's eyes is called a "successful ministry".

I also see these days a lot of agitation for women empowerment which I support because a Proverbs 31 woman is a woman of strength in every area of her life. However, you must not sacrifice the well being of your marriage and children in pursuit of wealth, position, carrier, business and even ministry. Remember at the end of it all your report card for your success or failure apart from making heaven, is that your children rise up and call you blessed with your husband too.

I recognise that the devil attacks families especially children of those who pursue their God given calling and assignments. That is why it is necessary to pray for one another. However, there is need to walk in wisdom. Pay attention to your first ministry which is your family.

TOPIC: THE PARABLE OF THE SEEED AND SOWER (4) - THE GOOD HEART

TEXT: Matthew 13:23 NLT "The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

The hearts of those in which God's word prospers are good soil. Our scripture says they listen and understand. This parable as narrated in the gospel of Luke says their hearts are good and honest.

It takes a posture of humility and honesty for the word to prosper and be fruitful in our hearts. When you read the word and do not accept what it says as the truth and the final authority but always try and give your own interpretation to it then their cannot be any change in you and in your life.

The bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." This is the work of the scriptures in our hearts. The profit of the word of God is a life that is shaped, changed and instructed by its truth.

A good heart will repent when it is reproofed and corrected by the word. A person with a good heart will do what God’s word says.

We prosper when the doctrines of the fundamentals of the gospel of Jesus Christ are fully understood and they become the anchor of our hearts whereby we are no longer double minded and tossed around by the doctrines of men.

The scriptures tell us what the foundation of our faith should be in Hebrews 6:1-2 "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."

Have you fully understood the doctrine of salvation through Christ, the grace of God, faith, healing and deliverance?

These are the things that a person with a good heart understands clearly. Let not a veil of fear or pride cover your heart when reading the scriptures but let your heart be humble and willing to do what it says.

PRAYER
Father I receive your word and submit to its supremacy. Lord teach me, correct me and instruct me in Jesus name.

THE PARABLE OF THE SEED AND THE SOWER (3) (Matthew 13:1-9, Luke 8:5-10)

TOPIC: THE THORNY GROUND

TEXT: Luke 8:7 NKJV "And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it."

The word of God is the seed and the ground upon which it falls is our hearts. Today, we study the heart that the Bible says is thorny.

Jesus explains the thorny heart in Mark 4:18-19 NCV
"Others are like the seed planted among the thorny weeds. They hear the teaching, but the worries of this life, the temptation of wealth, and many other evil desires keep the teaching from growing and producing fruit in their lives."

Do you have times when your mind can't seem to focus on God's word when you want to read it or you do not have the desire to read it daily? It could be for various reasons like worry and anxiety over some need in your life. It could be about how to make the next financial deal or excitement about what you're going to buy or do with the money that you have.

This is the work of the devil, taking you away from the very thing that is the compass which points you in the right direction in life. The word of God is the anchor you need for your soul which keeps your mind stable and free from worry and anxiety. God speaks through his word.

The word of God becomes fruitful when reading, studying and meditating on it becomes priority in our lives. It must be a daily practice just like praying. It's not enough to just pray, you must hear what God has to say in his word.

Lay up the treasure of God’s word in your heart. This is what the Spirit of God refers to when He speaks to you. The bible says the Spirit will remind us of the words of Christ and will guide us into all truth (John 16:13). You must be so full of God’s word that you think through the perspective of the word and the words you speak align with what God says.

Studying God’s word daily will take self discipline and self control with God's help. A daily devotional will help you get started to study the bible. Likewise, following a bible plan in one year helps to keep you on track. You can choose to study the bible by topics or reading through it book by book.
Attending bible study groups and church is very important.

PRAYER

I come against every intrusive thought of the devil and I declare that I walk in the fruit of the Spirit of self control and I discipline myself to read God's word everyday in Jesus name.

SERIES 1: THE PARABLE OF THE SEED AND THE SOWER (2) (Matthew 13:1-9, Luke 8:5-10)

TOPIC: THE SEED ON THE ROCKS

TEXT: Matthew 13:5 NKJV "Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth."

Jesus spoke in parables to catch the attention of those who desire to understand the principles that govern the kingdom of God. True disciples of Jesus do not just desire to know God's word but also desire to understand it.

Remember the kind of ground in which the seed, which is God's word, is sown represents our hearts. Hearts that are rocks are those who do not have teachable hearts or do not seek deep understanding of God’s word . They are those who may have knowledge but the word has not sunk deep into their hearts.

Jesus said to his disciples who sought to understand this parable: Luke 8:10 TPT “You have been given a teachable heart to perceive the secret, hidden mysteries of God’s kingdom realm. But to those without a listening heart, my words are merely stories. Even though they have eyes, they are blind to the true meaning of what I say, and even though they listen, they won’t receive full revelation."

One who hungers and thirsts for God will sit with his word and have an open heart. They do not live by burrowed revelation but get understanding of God's word by reading, studying and meditating on it. Disciples who seek understanding ask the Holy Spirit to teach them and give understanding. Like the disciples they ask "Lord what does this mean?".

Jesus tells us in Luke 9:45 that his word should sink into our hearts. In Luke 9:46 We are told that his disciples did not understand what he was saying because they were afraid to ask him what he meant.

Being open to understand the word of God will require us to be willing to open our hearts to the examination of his word. It will require us to be humble enough to accept the true meaning of his word and yield to it.

The seed that fell, on rocky grounds did not endure and prosper because of a lack of depth. When God's word is understood and sinks into our hearts we have depth and the word becomes an anchor to our souls even in times of temptations and storms of life.

PRAYER
Father, help me to daily study your word. Give unto me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation that my heart may understand your word in Jesus name.

UNRAVELLING THE PARABLES OF JESUS

SERIES 1: THE PARABLE OF THE SEED AND THE SOWER

TOPIC: The seed by the way side

TEXT: Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

The parable of the seed and the sower aims at teaching the importance of the word of God and understanding it so that it can bear fruit in our lives.

Jesus described the seed as the word and we can conclude that the place where the seed falls is our hearts. The condition of our hearts determines if the word of God prospers in it or not.

Today we study those whom the Lord describes their hearts as those by the way side. These people are those who have unbelieving hearts and do not receive nor honour what they hear as God's word so the devil steals the word which they hear. The demonic described as the birds of the air, is at work in their hearts.

We have insight into the work of the birds of the air in
Ecclesiastes 10:20 which says "Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter."

Birds of the air are demons that echo voices of those who lie and those who are cynical about the gospel of Jesus Christ to the unbeiliver. So when the word comes to an unbeiliver instead of receiving God's word, his or her heart is already predisposed and conditioned to be cynical, hardened, disobedient and rebellious because of the contrary thoughts and opinions that the devil has planted in their hearts. This is how the devil steals the word from hearts.

Jesus said in Luke 8:12 "Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved."

It is possible to believe some of God’s word and not all. Some may believe in salvation but not healing. Some may believe in deliverance but not prosperity. This may be because of a lack of understanding of the full gospel of Jesus. It could also be because some have heard messages from men that teach false doctrines or half truths.

The bible tells us that we should pay attention to what we hear (Mark 4:24) and how we hear ( Luke 8:18). There is no salvation, no cure for sin, no deliverance nor healing without having faith in God’s word.

PRAYER
Father in the name of Jesus, destroy every proud obstacle that keeps me from knowing God. Bring every rebellious thought to obey Christ in Jesus name.

Sometimes we want to "form" (pretend) "humbility" (to be humble) as ministers and prevent people from being appreciative. The honest truth is everyone wants to be appreciated and should be appreciated. Young, old, adult or children, ministers and workers in God’s vineyard as well as the congregation. Thanks to these beautiful women who took time out to show love and appreciation. Love you ❤️

TOPIC: BREAKING OUT OF NEGATIVE CYCLES

TEXT: Deuteronomy 2:2-3 "And the LORD spake unto me, saying, Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward."

God speaks to me from time to time through dreams. Sometime ago, I would have a dream that felt so real that when I woke up from it, it took me a little while to realise that it was just a dream. In this dream, I was at university in my final year but I knew I was not going to graduate because I had failed to attend a course and so wouldn't pass the exams.

My reality was different, I had been a graduate, a Lawyer with an MBA for over thirty years. I had this same dream a number of times. At first, I thought it was caused by anxiety and so I would ignore it.

Then I realised that it was God telling me that I had failed his test repeatedly. I prayed concerning it and asked the Lord in which areas I was failing his test. It was in two things, in finances and in my attitude to ministry. I was always "threatening" to leave my calling when there was pressure.

I found myself in a cycle of up today and down tomorrow. I thank God for being merciful towards me by revealing to me his heart.

This brought me to a decision that no matter what, I wouldn't buckle under pressure. No matter where or from whom the pressure came. I received correction, obeyed the Lord and things turned around.

To break out of a negative cycle, make no assumptions. Don't assume that it is a curse or an attack of the devil. Take time out to seek God’s face on the matter. Enquire of him, pray and be ready to hear what he says and obey his instructions.

It would take courage and and determination with the help of God to break out of negative cycles. Be rest assured God is for you and with you. His desire is for you to align with his will and purpose. It may not be a popular decision with the people around you but if God has spoken he will help you and you will, breakthrough.

A scripture that the Lord always brings to my remembrance is Isaiah 50:7 "For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed."

When it comes to God’s instructions, I set my face as a flint and forge ahead with it and he helps me all the time.

PRAYER
Father, show me those things that I need to correct. Show me what I need to stop doing and what I need to start doing to advance in my assignments and calling in Jesus name.
