The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, has not forsaken them that seek thee.
Psalm 9: 9-10
God's word tells us that God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in times of need.
How true this scripture is... because indeed God is our refuge.
A refuge is a place of safety. a shelter from danger and a place of rest.
Putting your trust in God guarantees your safety. Knowing that He will never leave you nor forsake you or abandon you even in the midst of your troubles.
His word tells us that many are the affliction of the righteous, but the LORD delivers them out of it all.
God shelters us from the storms of life. He shield's us from the dangers that surrounds us and protects and preserves us from harm.
Knowing this truth, that in God is your solace emboldens you to face whatever life throws at you.
A perfect example is the story of Shedrach, Mesheck and Abednego who were thrown into the fiery furnace that was seven times hotter than normal. All because they refused to worship the image set up by the king.
They knew their God and were willing to die worshiping Him and Him alone and not bowing to any other god.
And God showed himself strong on their behalf!
He appeared in their midst, and they were not burnt. not even the clothes they wore smelled like smoke. God sheilded them from the blazing fire. God miraculously saved them because they put their trust in Him. He is the God that created all the elements.
Infact, He, Himself is a consuming fire!
Another is the story of Daniel who prayed to God three times a day despite the decree of not praying to any other god.
Even though he knew the consequences of his actions, he still prayed any way.
He was not afraid to be eaten by the Lions. And after being thrown into the Lion's den, God sent his angel to shut the mouth of the Lions. And Daniel was miraculously delivered.
He is the creator of all living things.
Has the enemy given you a reason to forsake your God? has he told you to forget about this God that loves you with an everlasting love?
Has life's troubles, trials, temptations, challenges and difficult circumstances threatened to put out your faith?
Just because things are not working for you and the world seems to be on your shoulders, or the enemy has set all hell loose against you is not enough reason to give up on your love for God.
Hold on and be strong, put your faith, your hope and your trust in God because He will never fail you. He will come and save you.
He is the God that makes a river in the desert, The One that makes a way across the sea. He is the controller of all the elements, and He has given you the power to recreate your world. To change your circumstance and to chart a new course for your life.
He is all powerful, He is almighty, He is the sovereign God and He is Your refuge. Put your trust in him because Our God never fails.
Have you been oppressed by the devil? Do you know his name?
do you trust him? do you seek him?
If yes, then cheer up because He will not forsake you!
Infact, His eyes run through and fro the earth seeking for those whose heart is perfect towards Him that He may show himself strong on their behalf
If God be for you who can be against you?
So, rejoice in the knowledge that God is your Refuge...
