For God is our spiritual father
In the Old Testament, prophets like Elijah and Elisha were revered as spiritual leaders, father figures guiding God’s people. Their role was powerful but ultimately human, marked by both grace and imperfection. Yet, in the New Testament, Jesus offers clarity, reminding us, “And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven” (Matthew 23:9). Jesus’ words redirect us from earthly reliance to a divine relationship with God alone. Today, we often look up to ministers who may claim this “fatherly” role, yet they too are fallible. When they stumble, our hearts must return to Jesus’ teaching—our true spiritual Father is eternal, compassionate, and perfect in His ways. This truth brings peace, helping us avoid bitterness, renewing faith in God’s unchanging presence, and leading us to worship in Spirit and truth, just as Jesus taught.
