SEVEN THINGS TO DO BEFORE MARRIAGE

1. Talk money, openly
Income, debt, savings, spending habits, and financial goals. Who pays what? How will you budget? Money fights are one of the top stressors in marriage, so get aligned early.

2. Discuss core values + non-negotiables
Faith, kids, career location, where to live, how to raise children, roles in the home. You don’t have to agree on everything, but you should know where you stand.

3. Do a “conflict test drive”
Pay attention to how you both handle disagreement, stress, and apologies. Can you repair after a fight? Healthy conflict skills matter more than never fighting.

4. Meet each other’s worlds
Spend time with families, close friends, and in each other’s routines. See how you handle holidays, chores, in-laws, and different cultures/backgrounds together.

5. Get premarital counseling or mentoring

Even 3-4 sessions with a pastor, counselor, or married couple you respect. It helps you spot blind spots and gives you tools before problems start.

6. Check practical/legal bases

Health, legal documents, and expectations: health status, insurance, wills, and if needed, a conversation about a prenup. Also discuss expectations around work, chores, and intimacy.

7. Build an “us vs the problem” mindset

Practice making decisions as a team. Plan a budget together, plan a trip, handle a crisis. Marriage works best when you’re already used to partnering, not competing.

1. Concentrate yourself more in prayers
2. Develop unusual hunger for the Word
3. Stay away from any form of distraction
4. Guard your spiritual life with great care
5. Don't forget to take care of yourself
6. Remember to get something doing
7. Trust in the Lord for direction, instructions and revelations.
