MONEY MISTAKES (Contd.)
8. Ignoring to have a proper financial plan - People make money mistakes when they refuse to plan financially. Planning is the process of accessing where you are right now and developing a strategy to meet your financial goals. You will not just wake up and become rich. Your plan has to be written down. One major way for financial planning is having a budget.

We have four seasons in life;
• Learning season (0 - 25 years)
• Earning season (26 - 50 years)
• Mentoring season (50 - 75 years)
• Resting and fading season (75 years and above).

This is the recommended spread for a typical budget;
• 10% - tithes/offering/any other giving to God. Honor the Lord with your substance.
• 70% - for all your expenses.
• 20% - for investment. Study yourself, study your sources of income and come up with something that works for you and your family.

9. Living a life of waste - There are only three things you can do with your money; spend, invest or waste it. We are busy on how to make more money but we don’t use it well. Inefficient use of our monies lead to poverty. We are to eat to live not live to eat. There are three major needs of man;
• Food
• Clothing
• Shelter

Sources of wastage
• Impulse spending
• Convenience driven spending
• Branding and consumerism

10. Having only one stream of income - You must trust God to give you great ideas to multiply your streams of income. Gen. 1:28, Ecclesiastes 11:1- ā€œIf your stream of income is only one, anything can go wrong and you will be groundedā€ Genesis 2:10 We love the Proverbs 31 woman because she is virtuous.

Everyone makes mistakes, but the wise learn and grow from them. Be honest about your financial mistakes and seek help. These teachings carry an anointing for wealth—God desires to bless you with kingdom abundance. As you apply them, your finances will transform in a year. Blessing comes to doers, not just hearers.

Speaker: Pastor Joy
Topic: Money (1) - (God's Perspective on Managing Finances).
Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:18; 2 Corinthians 8:9; Revelations 5:12; Ecclesiastes 10:19; Proverbs 11:4; Deuteronomy 15:11

What is God's mind towards money?
One of the reasons the church is lacking is that for a very long time certain scriptures were misinterpreted.

1 Timothy 6:10 is one example, and that made people run away from money.

Some ascetic monks believe that the poorer you are the more you honor God. This led to the church not being financially buoyant and ineffective in dealing with the problems of people.

Is money good or evil?
Money is a tool and it reflects the heart and personality of the one possessing it.

It is amoral (neither good nor evil) but can be used to promote good or evil. It is a good tool in the hands of a believer.

How important is money in the life of a Christian?
1. It is important to a believer because it is used to promote the cause of God's kingdom.

2. It is a defence and a medium of exchange, and it gives you options in life.

3. It gives you time, influence and the enablement to help people and be a blessing.

4. It gives you the privilege to find causes you believe in.

5. It enthrones people on the earth. Proverbs 22:7.

What is God's perspective on money?
1. God wants his children to have money but he doesn't want money to have them.

2. God wants you to wax rich and increase in goods. If you don't have plenty, you cannot share.

3. God has given us divine power for money.

4. God wants believers to use their money for good.

5. Money is your tool not your master. The spirit of Mammon deceives a man and makes him think he is nothing without money. 1 Timothy 6:10. Matthew 6:24.

6. Money will be left here. There are two categories of wealth: material and eternal.

You can use your material wealth to enhance your eternal wealth if you align with the will and purpose of God. It is on the foundation of eternal wealth that God is free to download temporal wealth.

We are vessels in God's hands, a conduit that he uses to bless people.
