โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“– Text: Psalm 135:1-4
1. Praise the name of the Lord;
praise him, you servants of the Lord,

2 you who minister in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“Study:- The phrase,'Praise the Lord','Praise the name of the Lord' or 'Praise Him'occurs 4 times in verses 1 and 3 of our text. With these words, the Psalmist calls upon us to praise the Lord, whether we are ministers or lay people, inside the temple or in the courts.

The major reasons for praising God are evident in verses 3 and 4. First, the Lord is good. Good in every sense of the word. He is good and upright, a refuge in times of trouble (Psa. 25:8;Nahum 1:7). The second reason is that God has chosen Jacob for Himself. Here, Jacob represents all who have come to a saving knowledge of Christ and have become adopted as children of God (Rom. 8:17). As indicated in verse 4, such people have been chosen as God's special treasure (see also Exodus 19:5).

How do you respond to the goodness of God as an individual, family or church? Some people do so by offering material or financial gifts in support of God's work. This is good, but you must ensure that you have โ€œa broken and a contrite heart", a response that God does not despise(Psa.51:17-19). Is the Lord good to you and your family?

โœ๏ธ : Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your goodness and mercy towards me and my family.

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“– Text: Psalm 129:1-8
1 โ€œThey have greatly oppressed me from my youth,โ€
let Israel say;
2 โ€œthey have greatly oppressed me from my youth,
but they have not gained the victory over me.
3 Plow men have plowed my back
and made their furrows long.
4 But the Lord is righteous;
he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.โ€

5 May all who hate Zion
be turned back in shame.
6 May they be like grass on the roof,
which withers before it can grow;
7 a reaper cannot fill his hands with it,
nor one who gathers fill his arms.
8 May those who pass by not say to them,
โ€œThe blessing of the Lord be on you;
we bless you in the name of the Lord.โ€

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“Study:- "The Lord is righteous: He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked" is the way the Psalmist presents God's attributes of righteousness and justice. He
complained that in spite of the acts that the enemies of Israel had afflicted her with for a long time, they did not prevail. The Psalmist appealed to the Lord to disgrace Zion's enemies and render them useless so that no one would pronounce a blessing upon them. It is worthy to note that God's righteousness is shown in the deliverance He granted His people who were afflicted and kept in slavery by their enemies.

Moreover, God's righteousness is revealed each time wickedness is judged by Him (Isa.26:9).
All over the world, we witness lack of love, intolerance, injustice, r**e, oppression of the poor, maltreatment of the weak, and dispossession by the strong. However, for God's people, the wicked shall not prevail against them, no matter how hard they try! It doesn't matter how long the enemies' cord of oppression has been on your neck. God's word to you today is that "He has cut in pieces the cords of the wi

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“– Text: Psalm 128:1-6
1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Yes, this will be the blessing
for the man who fears the Lord.

5 May the Lord bless you from Zion;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you live to see your childrenโ€™s childrenโ€”
peace be on Israel.

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“Study:- There are threefold blessings revealed in our text for the man who fears the LORD. These blessings are at the personal, family and national levels. The personal blessings include having food to eat, being happy and living in a state of wellbeing.

The family blessings include having a wife that shall be fruitful in bearing children and having children that shall be healthy and useful like growing olive plants. Again, the man will live long enough to see his grandchildren. The national blessings include seeing the prosperity of the nation.
With all of these blessings, it becomes crucial to find out what it requires to fear the LORD. It requires respect and honouring Him, repentance from sinful behaviours, walking in His ways, following Him wherever He leads, having a personal relationship with Him, and being obedient to His will and purposes. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Psa.111:10a).

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance (Prov.8:13). Do you really fear the Lord with your whole heart? Decide today to fear God and be blessed by Him. Will you humble yourself to acknowledge Him as your Father?

โœ๏ธ : Prayer: Father put your fear in my heart

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“– Text: Psalm 127:1-5
1. Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eatโ€”
for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves.

3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in oneโ€™s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ Study: It is natural for man to make efforts to sustain his life and that of his family. However, this psalm teaches man to depend on God for success in building lasting things, such as houses, families, businesses, national security, etc., otherwise, his efforts will fail.

The Psalmist also emphasises that children come from the Lord and the man who has many children is not ashamed to engage enemies.
Notice that God is pointing our attention to a building that is topmost in His heart. It is the building of Christian homes, where children are born, saved and trained to help God administer the affairs of His eternal plan on earth. What are you exhaustively building and securing? Do you spend quality time to raise your children in the fear of God? Please allow God to teach you so that you can train your children in the way they should
go(Prov.22:6).

Teach them to read, hear, study, memorise, and obey God's word. Also teach them how to pray and depend on God. Are you a good example of a Christian parent to your children? Do something about it today!

โœ๏ธ : Prayer:Father; I declare today that I and the children you have given me. are forsigns and wonders.
