A relationship with Jesus is the most important and life-transforming connection a person can have. It goes beyond religion — it’s a personal, loving, and ongoing relationship with the Son of God who gave His life for us.

Here’s what it really means:

1. Knowing Him Personally:
It’s not just knowing about Jesus, but knowing Him — talking to Him through prayer, learning His heart through the Word, and listening for His guidance.

2. Trusting His Love:
Jesus loves you unconditionally. Building a relationship with Him means resting in that love — even when you fail — knowing He forgives, restores, and walks with you daily.

3. Obeying His Word:
Love for Jesus shows in obedience (John 14:15). As you grow closer, you begin to live by His Word, not out of fear, but out of love and gratitude.

4. Walking in the Spirit:
The Holy Spirit helps you experience Jesus’ presence — comforting, teaching, and empowering you to live a victorious life.

5. Growing in Fellowship:
Spending time in prayer, worship, and fellowship with other believers deepens your walk with Christ.

6. Becoming Like Him:
The ultimate goal is transformation — to reflect His character, compassion, humility, and truth in every area of your life.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:8

BEHAVING YOURSELF WISELY

What should be done if you have a genuine call, but your present leadership does not believe in it or is unwilling to release you, even when it is evident you are genuinely called of God? The matter is very simple. It is called "behaving yourself wisely".

If you find yourself in a situation that on the account of the call of God, your mentor becomes a tormentor, always remember David. There are certain things you must never do:

1. Don't rebel and resort to public insults and name-calling.
2. Like David, learn to dodge arrows from Saul without throwing arrows back.
3. If the arrows are life-threatening, you may need to run but never throw arrows back.
4. Never use any privileged information about a leader against him publicly, just to prove a point.
5. Learn from the man after God's heart, never to stretch forth your hand against the Lord's anointed. You can't do this and be guiltless.
6. Everyone who has given you opportunities for ministry must be eternally honoured. Do not attack them on social media even when you disagree with them.
7. Learn how to disagree privately; hold your peace.
8. David stopped his men from attacking Saul. Don't dishonour a man simply because He is after your life. Do not encourage anyone to dishonour fathers.
9. No matter how difficult the situation is between you and your pastor, it cannot be as bad as what transpired between David and Saul- yet David never dishonoured Saul.
10. Even after Saul died, David released a song to honour Saul- the song of the bow. He referred to Saul as a mighty man who fell (not that wicked man or serves him right!) Learn how to sing the song of the bow...it's a very prophetic and loaded song...There are times you sing, instead of shooting arrows.
11. After Saul was gone, David honoured the remnant in Saul's house for Jonathan's sake and gave to Mephibosheth all that pertained to Saul. He kept the legacy of Saul alive. No matter how bad a leader is, there is always a Jonathan factor- honour Saul's household for Jonathan's sake.
12. He honoured the men of Jabesh-Gilead who buried Saul
13. No matter who is unwilling to release you, never resort to rebellion or dishonour.

14. If you have to walk away because of torment, just walk away quietly- never make noise and don't take anyone with you...
15. File an appeal in God's judicial system and leave the matter in the hand of God; irrespective, continue to honour.

Remember And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him.
