Good morning beloved people of God!

Do you know that in today's Gospel reflection Jesus invites His disciples to reorient their lives in accordance with God's plan and purpose?
Despite the fishing expertise of Peter and his co-workers, they have caught nothing that night. It is in this hopeless situation that Jesus comes and gives them unsolicited fishing advice by saying, "Cast your nets on the other side." Peter obeys the Lord and has an unexpected result. Amazed by the power of God displayed in the abundant catch of fish, he does not think of partnering with Jesus for a lucrative business but rather, becomes aware of his sinfulness and unworthiness. Discarding his boat and his livelihood, Peter accepts the life and mission of Jesus.

Beloved, Have you abandoned your boat in favour of the master?

For all those who are looking for job employment, kneel down as you say this prayer with faith.

Lord Jesus Christ, who worked by the skill of your hands and the sweat of your brow as a village carpenter in Galilee, and understood the human hazards of labour and unemployment, come down to my aid and assist me in my need. Help me to find employment suitable to the talents that I have and the gifts you have given me. Help me to support the dependants you have bountifully entrusted to my care. Help me to take my creative place in the society of men and contribute positively to the common of all mankind by constructive, loyal service. My talents are yours, Lord. Use them to your glory and praise, and bring me one day to the kingdom of your Father where all my desires will be amply fulfilled. Amen.

May the almighty God continue to bless and keep you safe in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit......

Greetings beloved people of God!
Just to ponder on today's reflection:

We have physical and spiritual ailments and whichever one we contract affects our wellbeing. To get healed, we seek the aid of a doctor for medication. Unlike the doctors in the hospitals, whose treatments are limited to the body, Jesus is a physician who attends to illnesses of both the body and the soul. He is well-versed in physical and spiritual ailments, but only waits for us to come to His hospital with total faith, trust and surrender.
We need healing in our families, country and the world at large, so with faith and trust let us approach Jesus in prayer. Let us also emulate His selfless love and zeal in preaching the kingdom of God both in our words and actions. Like Jesus, we are called to heal, teach and proclaim God's kingdom of love to all people regardless.....

St John the Baptist

Saint John the Baptist has two feasts to himself. One, in August, celebrates his death, and one, in June, celebrates his birth. And this is as it should be, for as Christ himself said, John was the greatest of the sons of men.
The greatest, but also the most tragic. A prophet from before his birth, leaping in the womb to announce the coming of the incarnate God, his task was to proclaim the fulfilment of all prophecies – and thus his own obsolescence. And he did it: with unequalled courage he spread the news that he, the greatest of all men, was the least in the kingdom of heaven. His disciples, and the devil, would have preferred him to fight, to build his sect, to defeat this upstart whom he himself had baptized, to seize his place in history. But he did not – and so, rightly, he has his place, and he has glory in heaven.
We envy the great and the talented, and sometimes we think that they themselves are beyond envy. But when they come across someone with greater gifts, as one day most of them will, they will see for the first time what it means to feel like us. Let us pray that they, like John the Baptist, may pass that test.

Augustine was born in Thagaste in Africa of a Berber family. He was brought up a Christian but left the Church early and spent a great deal of time seriously seeking the truth, first in the Manichaean heresy, which he abandoned on seeing how nonsensical it was, and then in Neoplatonism, until at length, through the prayers of his mother and the teaching of St Ambrose of Milan, he was converted back to Christianity and baptized in 387, shortly before his mother’s death.
Augustine had a brilliant legal and academic career, but after his conversion he returned home to Africa and led an ascetic life. He was elected Bishop of Hippo and spent 34 years looking after his flock, teaching them, strengthening them in the faith and protecting them strenuously against the errors of the time. He wrote an enormous amount and left a permanent mark on both philosophy and theology. His Confessions, as dazzling in style as they are deep in content, are a landmark of world literature. The Second Readings in the Office of Readings contain extracts from many of his works.
He was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Boniface VIII in 1308.

REFLECTION FOR THE FAMILY:
Meekness begets humility. The greater you are, the humbler you should be to find favour with God. It is only to the humble that God reveals Himself and in them He is glorified. Christ Himself set this example. He is God, yet He does not cling to His equality with God, He humbles Himself; He is of low estate, taking the form of a slave. Pride is a canker-worm that has eaten deep into our hearts as humans; it is an evil growth that denies us the favour God desires to bestow on us. We know that saying that pride goes before a fall, yet we remain in that state of pride. Humility is the mother of all virtues. St Augustine said: " pride changes angels to devils and humility changes men to angels." God reveals himself to humanity in the most humble state by taking human nature in the incarnation of His Son. "God opposes the proud but will supply His grace to the humble." To be God's favourite, we must embrace the virtue of humility.
