PRAYING TO GET RESULTS
INTRODUCTION: GOD’S ORDAINED RESPONSE SYSTEM FOR THE REDEEMED
For the redeemed, prayer is not a religious activity;
it is an ordained channel for divine response.
God never designed prayer to end in frustration.
He designed it to produce answers.
Jesus Himself established this truth clearly in Matthew 7:7–11 (KJV):
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Prayer is not guesswork.
Prayer is governed by divine certainty.
BELIEVING IS THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS ANSWERS
God’s commitment is not just to prayer —
it is to believing prayer.
Jesus said in Matthew 21:22 (KJV):
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
He reinforced it again in Mark 11:24 (KJV):
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Prayer without faith is noise.
Prayer mixed with faith commands results.
WHY SOME PRAYERS REMAIN UNANSWERED
Scripture is honest with us.
Some things we lack — not because God refused —
but because we never asked, or we asked wrongly.
James 4:2 (KJV) declares:
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Unasked prayers produce unanswered lives.
PRAYING TO GET RESULTS
1. SIN IS A MAJOR BARRIER TO ANSWERED PRAYERS
One major cause of prayer failure is spiritual disconnection caused by sin.
God’s power has not reduced —
the problem is separation.
Isaiah 59:1–2 (KJV):
1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
David confirms this truth in Psalm 66:18–19 (KJV):
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
God does not ignore prayers —
He responds to clean hearts.
A phone with strong network but no credit cannot make calls.
The problem is not the network —
the problem is disconnection.
Sin disconnects prayer from response.
FORGIVENESS IS THE GATEWAY BACK TO ANSWERS
God never expects us to assume forgiveness.
He commands us to seek it genuinely.
2. FORGIVENESS MUST BE GENUINELY SOUGHT
Proverbs 28:13 (KJV):
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
David prayed in Psalm 51:10–12 (KJV):
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Confession restores connection.
Repentance reopens heaven.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN FORGIVENESS IS GENUINE?
This is where many believers lack understanding.
3. GOD COMPLETELY ERASES SINS THAT ARE CONFESSED
When forgiveness is genuine, God does not remember our sins.
Ezekiel 18:20–22 (KJV):
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
John confirms it again in 1 John 1:8–10 (KJV):
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Forgiven sins are deleted, not archived.
Once forgiven, prayer regains authority.
