THE TRUTH ABOUT HAVING UNDERAGED FEMALE MEMBERS IN THE BOYS' BRIGADE.
I greet you all with Love in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus, Christ.
Its with a pure heart and desire to advance Christ's Kingdom that I write once again, to promote the vision of our founder as the Spirit leads in me.
INTRODUCTION:
Boys' Brigade as a Voluntary organization enrols Boys in line with Section 8 of the Constitution of the Boys' Brigade Nigeria which states that:
"MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE OPEN TO ALL BOYS PROVIDED HE HAS ATTAINED THE AGES OF THREE YEARS AND ABOVE"
And enrols Female members in accordance with Section 8b of the same constitution which States that:
"MEMBERSHIP SHALL INCLUDE A NUMBER OF LADY OFFICERS WHO SHALL 25 YEARS AND ABOVE INTO COMPANIES FOR THE WELFARE OF THE ANCHOR BOYS AND JUNIOR SECTION".
This was reviewed in 2011 National Council meeting held at Keffi Niger State and was in the National Secretaries report in the 2014 National Council report.
But the big question is, why are we having a huge influx of underaged girls and not following this Constituted outline.
ANSWERS:
1). They National Council have not been able to enforce this law and win over the mind of many Officers against this fight because some of the top NTOs and ANTOs were part of the persons who introduced this culture and would want to see it collapse or die down with time.
2). Most Officers who live to support this act are impure in the Spirit. They house some of these Girls as their concubines and s*x partners. This breeds s*xual immortality, sin and Adultery .
When an Officer picks on small girls in the presence of this Boys', the Boys will cease to respect him and acknowledge his position as the head because he has brought himself so low in Sin.
The Officers in our Battalion councils and even Chaplains who are supposed to kick against this evil are fueling it silently from behind because of fleshy desires. This have brought us in great enmity with God.
The intellectuals amongst the Priest and Patrons look down on us because some Officers mingle with Lady Officers and GB members during trainings and camp.
The organization is decaying morally because of one SIN.
Remember what the bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:18;
"Flee from s*xual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins s*xually, sins against their own body".
AND
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
3 "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid s*xual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God".
The bible says FLEE, RUNAWAY FROM. This tells you how much the Bible condemns s*xual immorality.
Am not saying all underaged Girls/Lady Officers are involved in this act, but quoting that a greater percentage is, as it a bigger disadvantage than its advantage.
I have seen some underaged Girls being more dedicated and steadfast than our Officers and NCOs at different levels of training.
They even make more returns during BBWEEK than our Boys/Officers and help a lot during cooking and catering at camps, But the truth is that in the PRESENCE OF EVE, ADAM MUST MISBEHAVE.
The temptation of the opposite s*x is one thing that is not easy to resist by MEN no matter our age and Status/Class.
The desires of the flesh is so strong that it rules all the sense organs when a man is lust in sin.
We should flee from such desires.
THE FOUNDERS OPINION:
The founder William Smith was against having Female members from the onset. He never approved of it until in 1956 (years after Hus death) when this culture became established to have female members to help nurture the Anchor Boys.
Yes, am cool with the idea even if the founder wasn't because Ladies have a better approach to toddlers and their needs. The approved age was 25years here, because a woman of 25years is morally developed, stable and should be focused with her future and family and not s*x or relationships.
But having underaged lady officers or girls, they are prone to s*xual abuse and temptations from the opposite s*x. Some Officers and Council heads go to the point of promising to promote and marry them so as to lure them into bed.
These ones can't easily resist because their hormones are still concentrated and life is filled with lust.
Those who overcome such temptations become marginalized by the Officers of punished at will(Bullied at intervals).
The Girls Brigade and Girls Guide was established to train younger girls and not the Boys' Brigade.
If you have an underaged Girl desiring military training, playing of drums and parade, Encourage her to join the GB or Girls Guide.
Mist of them will say, " They are not organized, They are not interesting ".
Flee from such persons/Girls for its her hormones speaking to showoff her lust for the opposite s*x.
If you don't have an active GB in your area, u can institute one today and encourage other Girls to enrol. You can seek the consent and help of other officers of the GB and Chaplains to help you reach out to the Girls.
WHATS NEXT
Yes, another challenge is what happens to already enrolled Girls in the BBN?
This call is the duty of the State Council where the Companies fall under to set outlines to send these Girls into the GB or they should quit the BB. Christ is one and the BB is not the only way of advancing Christ's kingdom. So don't feel bad because if she values her relationship with God she can simply switch to another organization and do Gods work. Boys' Brigade is one out of a thousand channels to God.
Remember our objective is to Advance Christ kingdom amongst Boys (Not Girls) and not to promote membership above objective.
Some State and Battalion Councils won't be able to meet up with this Carling call because:
1). Some of the Officials are guilty and involved.
2). We have allowed denominational fellowships to take over the Boys' Brigade administration, that they now counter the decisions of the State/Battalion councils. This is true because Officers over the years sold our power to heads of denominations over porridge just like Esau.
3). We lack Officers who are spiritually alert and outspoken.
Remember one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in 1 Cor 12:3 is being courageous and outspoken.
If Istanbul with the highest Christian population in the world later became a 99% Muslim city through reforms, I believe if we start now. We will achieve greater things and reestablish our stand amongst our Chaplains, Boys and God.
If not, s*xual immortality, Indiscipline, unwanted pregnancy and Gods anger might befall us all.
CONCLUSION:
The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade share a similar objective, background and history. Both are instituted in the Church and share the same Marching drums, Chaplains and sometimes Patrons. To ensure both organizations exist peacefully and achieve their individual goals as a team, the Boys’ Brigade Company Shall;
1. Involve the Officers of the Girls’ Brigade in the running of the Company through its executives (by allocating some executive positions to the Girls’ Brigade), liaise the Officers of the Girls’ Brigade before taking positive decisions that concerns the welfare and finance of the Company.
2 . Team up with the Girls’ Brigade in the smooth running of all Company activities and program like enrolments, Carol, weekly programs, Company General Meetings etc.
3 . As a seniors to our sister organization (The Girls’ Brigade), shall show forbearance and patience when dealing with the Girls in the Company.
4 . Ensure no Boy/Officer of the Boys’ Brigade molests, seduces or engages in any preterm relationship with any Girl in the Company or within the Company.
5 . Educate the Girls’ and encourage them when they tend to become weak/lose focus.
6 . Run the Company annual enrolment with the Girls’ Brigade each calendar year.
7 . Officers must not allow any under-aged Girls’ Brigade member of the Company or another Company to enrol into the Company. This will help to reduce s*xual immoralities and build sanity amongst the members.
8 . The Officers must at all times encourage the Senior Girls and Officers of the Girls Brigade in other to keep the younger girls actively engaged and shun any form of migration of Girls from the Girls’ Brigade into the Boys’ Brigade due to indifferences between Girls’ Brigade members.
The constitution does not allow having underaged girls as sectional members of the Boys' Brigade, don't foreign cultures from other countries into Boys' Brigade Nigeria.
It makes girls look beautiful and attractive but its a big distraction to our Objective as Officers in the Boys' Brigade.
