We are truly excited to receive our Fellows once again as they arrive from Africa and different states of Nigeria to the Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital City, for the final module of the Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP) Fellowship Program, a defining moment in a journey that has been both enriching, impacting and transformative. Their presence today fills us with deep joy and renewed hope, as we welcome not just participants, but ambassadors of peace who have journeyed with dedication, resilience, and purpose.
This final module marks the culmination of months of learning, dialogue, and personal growth. It is a sacred space where knowledge meets experience, where convictions are refined, where stereotypes and prejudices are healed and where the vision of a more peaceful and inclusive society is strengthened. As they gather, we are reminded that each Fellow carries a unique story, a distinct voice, and a shared commitment to becoming instruments of peace in their communities and beyond.
Throughout this week, the Fellows will engage deeply, reflecting on lessons learned, sharpening their skills in conflict transformation, and strengthening the bonds of fraternity that define the COFP family. It is also a time of evaluation, celebration, and preparation, preparation for the mission that lies ahead, beyond the walls of this programme.
As we look forward to their university certification and graduation on Saturday, we do so with pride and gratitude. Pride in how far they have come, and gratitude for the passion they bring to the noble cause of peace-building, mediation, conflict transformation and interfaith governance and relations. The journey does not end here; rather, it begins anew and this time, with greater clarity, courage, and commitment.
