WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY
1Kings 19:1-8.
John 6:35,48,51.
We have come a long way of historical activities and regular gathering without much effect to make heaven smile, laugh or celebrate. Heaven does not celebrate when we get more millionaires among us. Heaven does not celebrate when we build more luxury homes. Heaven does not celebrate when we add more to the fleet of cars we have acquired and painfully, these are the things that is taking all of our attention. Our momentum is treasured towards the pursuit of these mundane things at the expense of eternal glory. The center of our passion is geared towards achieving these things and heaven is frowning and we take no notice. We so labour round the clock while our thoughts are occupied with momentary satisfaction without consideration to our later end. What shall be your gain after gaining all these things here on earth but become miserable in eternity?
We have come a long way in all our claims and submissions as people of God but heaven is yet to recognize some of us .... Jesus l know, Paul l know but who are you?. If you are faced with this question, how will you respond?
It was God himself that revealed the real identity of the crowd that gathered before him one day in the name of fellowship (Eze 33:31). Their appearances was so sanctimonious full of heavenly glorious aroma but all was fake - just an outward show. Why? And God said, "their hearts was far from me."
What a revelation?
We have come a long way but we still have a long way to go. It is a life time journey that requires more strength and focus than what Elijah needed. The divine announcement to Elijah that day was, ' the journey is great" and as a result, he needed strength. If Elijah's journey of 40 days and night could be regarded as great, our own should be greater because is a life time.
What we need to strengthen us on this life time journey is "bread of life" which any man who eat it shall not suffer hunger again. And that bread is the word of God. For in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word is God. If you have the word, you have God who is the source of all sustenance.
When the early apostles were baptized with the Holy Ghost - the third person in God-head came and lived in them and consequently became a force/propeller that moved them from place to place to witness for Christ and massive harvest of souls became a norm.
People under heavy conviction were crying out on hearing the message of the cross and surrendering to Christ's Lordship and leadership were done easier. Thousands of souls were added to the church daily as a result.
What is happening to us and the kind of Holy Ghost we received? Instead of addition to the church from the world of sinners what we see today is movement from one church to the other - we see members carrying bags of church traditions and confusion from church to church. Something is fundamentally wrong with us but who do us this thing?
What do we do to regain this lost virtues and glory? These stories of past glories of what God did through us 10 years ago which we are carrying around is doing us no good. That God who did that then, has he changed, gone on vacation or transfer? What happened to the God of Elijah? Elisha looked at Elijah and said,"l need double portion of your anointing." Do you know why? They lived in different generations and things were advancing as it is today. Warfare today has gone technological that if you don't advance, you have no place in competition. The age in which we live is so messed up and tensed that it required tough and heavy message with heaven's backup.
What do we do? And JOEL 2:17 would say, " let the priests, the ministers of the Lord weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, spare your people,O Lord and give not your inheritance to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore, should they say among the people, where is their God"
If the church begin to count her experiences,is being reproach upon reproach. How long shall we continue that way? God will help us, God will help us - it is prayer,it is prayer and that is what we keep on saying repeatedly but who is doing the prayers?
Let the leaders and preachers take us to the old path that the patriarch trend upon. Let's embrace the old time region that helped them to make much impact and let's repeat history and who is ready to follow such emerging leaders with issues that are not trending in modernization and westernization? O Lord save your people from reproach - send that refiner's fire of revival upon us as you make us practical instruments in your hands to accomplish divine purpose in our generation. That should be the battle cry this season.
Shalom.
