TOPIC: KEEPING YOUR NEWNESS ALIVE: STAY FOCUSED

TEXT: PSALM 139:6; COLOSSIANS 3:1; PSALM 91:14-15 NIV

Donโ€™t lose your wonder. After a season of absolute awe and new learnings about God, did you go through a phase where you felt like you lost that amazement? In Psalms 139:6 while talking about Godโ€™s love and knowledge of us, David says, โ€œSuch knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.โ€

While you fix your eyes on Jesus, it is also important to explore and receive new revelations about God. Godโ€™s work is too vast for us to measure and too profound for us to fathom, however, God is gracious to give us glimpses of His Glory when we love Him and long to know more. These continuous revelations about God will unquestionably leave you in wonder, fueling your love and passion for God.

In the monotony created, many Christians almost lose the realization of the authority that we have as sons and daughters of God.

Donโ€™t ever become passive about the passion you carried and casual about the mission you committed your life to.

What are some creative ways you can think of to remind yourself and always hold on to that โ€œwonderโ€?

Start practicing them and list down all that amazes you. Psalms 139 holds a beautiful list of revelations about God. Though Davidโ€™s thought was directed towards asking God to search him and know his heart is true, his revelation of God gave him hope that his God knew him better than anyone could ever know.

TOPIC: THANK YOU... FOR WHAT I ALREADY HAVE!

TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-8; 2 PETER 1: 3 NIV

During Thanksgiving, and as many people rush to do their holiday shopping, itโ€™s good to take a moment to slow down and remember how much we already have to be thankful for.

One day, a very wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country to show him how poor people lived. They spent several days there on a farm with a family who didnโ€™t have much to offer them.

When they returned home, the father asked his son:

โ€œDid you like the trip?โ€
โ€œOh yes, very much, dad!โ€
โ€œDid you see how poor people live?โ€
โ€œYes!โ€ the son answered.
โ€œSo what did you learn from the trip?โ€

The son answered, โ€œI saw that we have one dog, and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek to swim in that has no end. We have lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.โ€

The boyโ€™s father was speechless.

The son added, โ€œDad, thanks for showing me what it really means to be rich.โ€

What is worthless to one person is anotherโ€™s treasure! Itโ€™s all based on perspective.

For you, what are true riches? Goods, objects, or possessions or rather, relationship with God, peace with yourself, and friendship with others?

Comparison kills contentment, as the expression goes. Too often, we forget the real treasures and instead mope about what we donโ€™t have and what weโ€™d like to possess.

The Bible says, โ€œNow godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.โ€ (1 Timothy 6:6-8)

Contentment and gratitude are two fundamental values in the Kingdom of God that are so important to live out each day! While God desires to fulfill our needs, we all still need to learn to be satisfied with what we have today.

I encourage you to be thankful to God for everything Heโ€™s already given you. Remember, โ€œHis divine power has given to you all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him!โ€ (2 Peter 1:3)

*๐Ÿ“โœ๏ธSUMMARY! SUMMARY!!๐Ÿ—’๏ธ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ*

*TOPIC: YOUR HARVEST DEPENDS ON WHY YOU SOW*.

*TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 9:9; DEUTERONOMY 16:17NIV*

*The reason God wants to bless your sowing is to โ€œincrease of the harvest of your righteousnessโ€ (2 Corinthians 9:10). God is interested in meeting your need as long as meeting your need is going to help you grow in your godly character and living, not just increase your stuff. A lot of folks want to be blessed for blessingโ€™s sake, never mind whether it is going to help them have a closer walk with God.*

*In other words, God is not only interested in blessing you with a new car so you can go on to forget Him while driving behind the wheel. Heโ€™s not interested in you getting a bigger house so you can be more unrighteous in it. God is not interested in just the external. Rather, God, wants to increase the righteousness of your inner person. He wants to draw you closer to Himself so that you follow Him more obediently.*

*Yes, God can make all grace abound to you. But He wants to make sure that His grace makes you a better you. The difference between a person who gives for the right motive and the one who only gives to get is that the latter is trying to make a bargain with God. But we canโ€™t say to God, โ€œIโ€™ll give to your work, but only if you bless my finances.โ€ God may want to bless you anyway, but He doesnโ€™t do deals.*

*Notice that Paul said in verse 10 it is God who โ€œsupplies seed to the sower.โ€ Even the seed you need for sowing comes from God. Itโ€™s all grace. God has this thing so covered that once He sees a need, He includes a seed to sow and meet that need. And when the need is met, He also supplies more seed for replanting so there can be a further harvest and then additional seed for even the harvest beyond that*

*Do you have any โ€œdealsโ€ youโ€™re trying to work out with God right now? How can you work on turning those โ€œdealsโ€ into cheerful giving?*

TOPIC: YOUR HARVEST DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU SOW

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 8:1-5; CORINTHIANS 9:9 NIV

Verse 6 of 2 Corinthians 9 says: โ€œHe who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.โ€ Do you know anyone who wants to do a little bit of work, but take home a big paycheck? People like this want to be highly favored by God. They want a big blessing; they just donโ€™t want to do anything for it.

A farmer knows that if he wants 15 acres of produce, heโ€™d better sow 15 acres of seed. He canโ€™t just throw out a few leftover handfuls of seed after he has eaten all the grain God has provided, and then expect to reap a bountiful harvest.

This is where it gets convicting. Too many people in Godโ€™s family want a big payday from heaven when they sow nothing, or very little, in terms of honoring God with the first and best of their resources. A farmer who sows sparingly isnโ€™t fooling anyone but himself if he thinks heโ€™s in for a bountiful harvest, and the same is true for any believer. Thatโ€™s why the Bible says we canโ€™t fool God. Are you holding back from giving because youโ€™re afraid of what might happen? If so, remember that when we obey God and sow in faith for His glory and not for personal gain, we not only reap what we sow, but more than we sow.

What area of your life are you holding back from giving, out of fear of the worldly consequences? Just opened up and you will enjoy huge harvest spiritually and otherwise

**TOPIC: INTIMACY WITH GOD: CONTINUE TO GROW*

*TEXT: PSALMS 63:1-11 NIV*

*There are thousands of ways to build a relationship with God. You can go for a walk and talk to Him. You can invite His presence when you go for your morning workout. You can ask His opinion while watching your favorite show. You can ask Him what Heโ€™s thinking about while youโ€™re brushing your teeth. The point is that when you invite Him in, any moment can build relationship with Him.*

*Every encounter with Godโ€™s presence makes room for more of His presence, no matter how big or how small. There is no upper limit on knowing God. He is infinite. There is always more of Him to know. Whenever our relationship with Him grows stale, it is not because we have run out of new things to learn about Him; it is because we have lost momentum in our never-ending journey of discovery.*

*This momentum of continuing to grow our intimacy with Him is the core of becoming indestructible. We are designed to be hungry for a growing relationship with God. We grow starving and desperate without it. But with it, every corner of our lives begins to shine.*

**TOPIC: INTIMACY WITH GOD: PRAYER*

*TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 6:19-21; 1 JOHN 5:14-15 NIV*

*Communication is the lifeblood of any relationship. In communication we can share information, emotions, jokes, insights, thoughts, hopes, dreams, and so much more. With communication we can build true connections between one another.*

*Prayer is nothing more and nothing less than communication with God. And I, for one, cannot think of a more tangible expression of His love than the idea that God would want to talk with me.*

*When we were small, our parents started attending a church that was very active about training its members in the gifts of the Spirit. It was the first time maybe we had ever heard that you could learn to hear Godโ€™s voice or that He was still speaking at all. We could ask questions and get questions asked back to us. We could ask about Godโ€™s opinion, His thoughts, and His feelings. We could have an actual relationship with Him.*

*Prayer connects us with the reality of God. It familiarizes us with His character, intentions, and thoughts. It helps us experience His presence during trouble and pain. It builds the foundation of our identity. It is the familiarity with Godโ€™s nature that comes from a lifestyle of prayer that makes us indestructible.*

*TOPIC: DIALED IN: THE JUST MAN*

*TEXT: JAMES 2:1-13; 1 PETER 3:9-17 NIV*

*Life isnโ€™t fair. People win, and people lose. People live long and happy lives, and people live horribly and die too soon. I can go on and on.*

*Life isnโ€™t just or fair.*

*But the dialed-in man is fair, just, and righteous. He does the right thing even when itโ€™s not popular.*

*In Titus 1:7-8, when Paul says that Christian overseers must be โ€œjust,โ€ the word he uses is dikaios, meaning โ€œwithout prejudice or partiality.โ€ Horizontally, dikaios describes the man who is just and upright in his dealings with all. Vertically, this quality includes giving God His due as Lord of all.*

*The man with this characteristic has found salvation through Jesus Christ and has given God his full capacityโ€”he trusts God completely. Not only does he surrender everything to the Savior, but he also makes a public stand to bear witness to what he believes and why.*

*To stay silent about our faith is not only cowardly but denies God what is due Him, as Paul said, โ€œI am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believesโ€ (Rom. 1:16).*

*Where is the just man? Where is the champion for the weak and powerless? Who will stand for them? Who will be the voice for those who have none? When the just man stands up to defend Godโ€™s Word, he may be canceled, he may be ridiculed, and he may be persecuted. But the just man stands, nonetheless.*

*A passage every man should commit to memory is 1 Peter 3:14-15: โ€œEven if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.โ€*

*Dialed-in men valiantly represent God and other people. Refusing to shrink back, they openly defend the truths of God (Hebrews 10:39).*

*What provokes you to take an active role in curing an injustice in the worldโ€”racism, abortion, s*x trafficking, lost souls, po*******hy, drug or alcohol addiction, or domestic abuse? Start there.*

*What are some insights about vertical justice you see in Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 1:16, and Hebrews 10:39? What do 1 Samuel 16:7 and Matthew 7:12, 16-20 teach us about how to treat people fairly?*

*TOPIC: DIALED IN: THE BLAMELESS MAN*

*TEXT: JOB 23:01-12; 1 TIMOTHY 3:1-17; TITUS 1:5-9 NIV*

*In both places where the apostle Paul lists the qualifications for overseers in the church (1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9), he puts being above reproach first. Why? Because blamelessness is the summation of all the qualifications. It is the overarching theme of the dialed-in man.*

*A literal shoestring tackle!*

*The Greek word often translated in 1 Timothy 3:2 as โ€œabove reproachโ€ or โ€œblamelessโ€ is anepilemptos, meaning โ€œnot to be laid hold of.โ€ What if the big running back had tucked his shoestring into his cleats?*

*The blameless man is, as N. J. D. White put it, โ€œone against whom it is impossible to bring any charge of wrongdoing such as could stand impartial examination.โ€ The anepilemptos man is not open to direct assault because he is โ€œa man against whom no criticism can be made.โ€*

*The idiom โ€œc***k in oneโ€™s armorโ€ refers to an area of vulnerability. It has traditionally been used to refer to a weak spot in a figurative suit of armor. The blameless man has no c***k in his armor, no loose shoestrings, and no Achillesโ€™ heel. He lives above reproach.*

*But no one lives in such a way without first having a plan. If you try to wing it, you may end up on the shoestring end of it.*

*Commit to living above reproach.*

*If Satan were to attack you in a way that would bring harm to your marriage and embarrassment to your family, where would he pounce (Genesis 4:7; John 10:10; 1 Peter 5:8)?*
