OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT: LEGAL UPDATE
Fityanul Islam of Nigeria remains committed to the pursuit of justice and the protection of the fundamental rights of our leaders.
We bring you a crucial update regarding the legal proceedings involving Sheikh Sani Khalifa AbdulQadir Zaria.
In a significant development on Friday, the Federal High Court in Abuja has intervened in the application filed for the enforcement of the Sheikh’s fundamental rights.
The Court’s Rulings on the application that seeks to uphold the Sheikh's constitutional rights as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights, specifically regarding:
✅️ Right to Dignity of the Human Person.
✅️ Right to Personal Liberty
✅️ Right to Fair Hearing, and
✅️ Right to Freedom of Movement.
72-Hour Ultimatum given:
The presiding judge has officially ordered the Federal Government to "show cause" within the next 72 hours as to why the court should not order the immediate release of Sheikh Sani Khalifa AbdulQadir Zaria.
The court has fixed the return date for this order on: Thursday, 12th February 2026.
