*HEAVEN SPEAKS THROUGH RAINFALL (NATURE); A REPORT ON THE RAINFALL PHENOMENON DURING THE 32ND ANNIVERSARY OF "A DAY OF GRACE."*

I have been reflecting on the events of the just-concluded 32nd Anniversary of _“A Day of Grace”_ in Aokpe, Benue State, Nigeria. My focus in this reflection is the rainfall, and how I believe nature and the events of man were speaking in harmony.
I often seek to understand what heaven might be saying to us through nature.
*Sunday, 2nd August 2026: The Rain Begins*
The first rain I witnessed during this year’s pilgrimage came on Sunday, 2nd August 2026. It began to drizzle at about 11:55am, just as we were returning from the Stations of the Cross. The drizzle turned to light showers, and by the time we started the Novena to Our Lady, Mediatrix of All Graces, it had become a steady downpour.
The rain came with a cold breeze — the kind that penetrates the skin and can almost cause fever.
Later, it subsided back to a gentle drizzle, but without the cold breeze. This was during Holy Mass. The steps around the sanctuary had become slippery from the rainfall, so the priest wisely took Holy Communion to the pilgrims in their various pavilions to prevent accidental falls.
*The first talk of the visionary*
That Sunday night, at 9pm the visionary, sister Christiana Agbo, gave a reflection on Our Lady’s messages in Aokpe. Afterward, she opened the floor for questions related to the message. I noticed, however, that some pilgrims asked personal questions unrelated to Our Lady’s message. These distractions took time, and because Holy Mass was about to begin, not all questions could be answered.
The next day, Monday 3rd August, the visionary gave another talk at 4pm — a continuation of Our Lady’s messages. The weather was bright, sunny, and cool. Pilgrims gathered around her just as crowds did around Jesus in His time. Many left the pavilions to sit on the grass, pavement, and bare ground just to be closer and hear better.
She began by addressing the pressing questions from the night before.
There were troubling rumors that she was “cash out” from Aokpe, that she had abandoned Our Lady’s work for marriage, and that Our Lady was displeased with her.
With the help of the Holy Spirit, she spoke with great patience and emotion. She explained the Church’s teaching on the Sacraments of Holy Matrimony and Holy Orders — that both are great vocations freely chosen, and that marriage is not sinful but a holy institution instituted by God Himself.
The problem, she said, is that many view marriage through a carnal lens, often because of painful experiences and broken homes, which breeds hatred for the vocation of marriage and married people.
She also shared her personal sacrifices. She spoke of the heavy crosses she carries that many know nothing about. Even as a wife and mother, she has never stopped working for Our Lady. She founded _FRIENDS OF OUR LADY OF AOKPE (FOLA)_, a group that has supported the work financially and otherwise — raising ₦20 million to renovate the Holy Spring, penance track, providing financial support every August 4th and ₦1 million to support this year's anniversary logistics, among other silent missions.
She revealed that she has undergone no fewer than seven operations in her life, most of which are unknown to the public. A recent operation even prevented her from attending the previous August 4th anniversary. She clarified, in the presence of the Rector and her Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. David Mmaduawuchukwu Anekwe, that she receives no stipend from the apparition ground for being the visionary of Aokpe. Most of her expenses to attend the pilgrimage come from the support of her beloved husband.
*When Heaven Answered with Rain*
While she was speaking, it began to drizzle again. Some pilgrims ran for shelter, but others remained seated. A little girl held an umbrella over the visionary so she could continue. Remarkably, the rain stopped temporarily while she was delivering her talk.
The Rector sent a messenger to remind her to round up for the next program. Immediately after she concluded, a heavy downpour began. In my spirit, I understood: even nature was listening. Heaven was present, sending a “rain of grace” to water the seed — the Word — that had just been sown. It felt like a rain of tears, because her words came straight from her heart.
*August 4th: The Day of Grace*
On August 4th, the Day of Grace proper, there was no “Miracle of the Sun” as witnessed the previous year. However, around 6pm there was a heavy downpour. Interestingly, some pilgrims reported witnessing the Miracle of the Sun in places thousands of miles away from Aokpe.
*Conclusion*
However this reflection resonates with you, I believe one thing: Our Lady dispenses graces as she wills — how she wills, when she wills, to whom she wills, and wherever she wills, hence she requested to be known in Aokpe as MEDIATRIX OF ALL GRACES(4th August, 1995) and that the Church should make it a dogma of faith.
In Revelation Chapter 12:2, 3, 13, 14 & 15, the Woman clothed with the sun was protected by both heaven and nature.
At every Mass, heaven and earth unite. The Mass(Holy Eucharist )is the centre of our worship.
Like Padre Pio said: "It is easier for the earth to exist without the sun than without the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass."
Jesus is the eternal Sun of Justice/righteousness.(Malachi 4:2). Enlightening every heart, dispelling darkness of sin and death.
_Ave Maria!!!_
