Topic: *Forgiveness (series):*

Text: Ephesians 4:32 _And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you._

I warmly welcome you into the month of August, which, to me, is a special month. As I was thinking and meditating on where to begin this month's devotional, the subject of forgiveness stuck to my spirit. I see in it some hidden secrets that will unlock peace, joy, happiness, good health, and prosperity into our lives.

*Forgiveness is God’s own idea*, as can be seen throughout the scriptures (from Genesis to Revelation). Indeed, Adam and Eve were spared from the punishment they deserved because God chose to forgive them instead.
The punishment prescribed for the offence of Adam and Eve was death (physical and spiritual), which would have ended their lineage and that of humanity from Adam, for we all are children of Adam.
Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Instead of death, they were disciplined. They did not die because God decided to show mercy on them and forgave them.
It is the same mercy that has been extended to us. "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not." (Lam 3:22).
When it comes to the rewards of sin, God does not really give us what we deserve. Instead, he gives us life.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom 6:23).
Instead of death for sin, God offers eternal life through Jesus Christ, His Son.
He does not also keep account of our sins. Otherwise, no one will be able to live or survive.
Psalm 130:3 LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?

Instead of judgment for sin, God offers forgiveness. "But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear.

Topic: *Let us lay aside every weight* (part 3.

According to the American Psychological Association, an inferiority complex is characterized by constant feelings of inadequacy or insecurity in your daily life due to a belief that you are physically or mentally inferior to others, whether such a belief is based on a rational assessment or not.

No one can think better of you than yourself.
Whatever you think you are, that is who you become.
The Bible did not speak against thinking well of yourself but against an exaggerated opinion of yourself.
"Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought" (Rom 12:3).

Biblically, we can refer to it as a grasshopper mentality.
Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
They were first in their own sight (opinion, views) as grasshoppers, before being seen as such by others.

However, a minority report of thesame so called giants by Joshua and Caleb painted a different picture.
Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; *for we are well able to overcome it*.
☆ Lay aside inferiority complex and low self-esteem.
☆See yourself in the light of the word of God - who God says you are.
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Phil 4:13).

*Meditation* : Proverbs 4:7 _Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding._

Topic: *Let us lay aside every weight* (part 3).
Text: Hebrews 12:1 _Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us._

*Lay aside* (get rid, eliminate, cut off, remove) "Every" each and everyone and everything without exception that constitutes a weight - big and small.
*Weights* :
A look at some key weights that have been carefully selected, which impacts seriously on our ability to "run the race that is set before us."

*Wrong attitudes:*
Wrong attitudes tops our list of weights as "attitude is everything." A negative attitude like laziness, given to complaints, bitterness, envy etc. can destroy a lot of things.
*Nonchalant attitude.*
Simply put, a nonchalant attitude is an "I don't care att," de", "It's not my business", "can't be bothered", disposition to life. Such a person lacks commitment to anything.
"Woe to them that are at ease in Zion"(Amos 6:1).

*Lukewarm attitude:*
In the Bible, particularly in Revelation 3:16, "lukewarm" describes a state of spiritual apathy or indifference, a lack of zeal and commitment in one's faith.

*Lukewarmness in a spiritual* context means a lack of enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to God and His teachings. It's a state of being neither actively pursuing God nor openly rejecting Him.

Jesus was displeased and dealt with lukewarm attitude by getting rid of it. "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth" (Rev 3:16).
* In order not to be spued by the Lord, it is better to act fast and on time by laying aside (get rid) of such attitude.
* *Inferiority complex* .
This is a big self-imposed impediment to growth that affects all aspects of life. It is how you see or perceive yourself characterized by low self-esteem.

Topic: *Surviving the HEAT.1*

Text: Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. [8] For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see (FEAR) when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful (WORRIED) in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

☆Heat in the Bible and in life generally signifies trouble, hardship, suffering, adversity, and trails.
In life, we all encounter different levels, dissensions and intensity of heat. However, we should be encouraged that God has also made a way of escape for those who trust and hope in him.
" _Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh_ " (Job 5:21).

☆Blessed is the man, that trusted in the Lord: and whose hope the Lord is. Vs.7
*The key operative words* here are; "trust in the Lord and hope in the Lord".

*Blessed is the man, that trusted in the Lord* :
Trust is a state of confident assurance in the character and nature of God. It is total dependence of His Sovereignty, Love, goodness, and faithlessness. It is central to God's covenant relationship with man.
" _Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding"_ (Prov 3:5).

" *and whose hope the Lord is* ":
In the Bible, hope is a trust in God's character and ability to deliver on what He has promised. "Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it" (1 Thess 5:24).
"It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord" (Lam 3:26).

☆The word of God provides guarantee to those who hope in God.
Job 11:18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
