My husband shared a story with me this morning that really broke my heart.
He was coming home from an event and decided to check on a man of God who had once met with him for counseling. The man was alone in church, praying and bothered. When he saw my husband, he was able to open up and share his burden with him.
A few months ago, a man he’d known for a very long time came to him seeking prayers for a contract he was pursuing. This man of God took him through prayers and even lodged him for three days in the church, feeding him and bought a clothe for him because he came unprepared.
After the three-day prayer session, the man went back to his base and didn’t reach out to the pastor. The pastor was a bit concerned but decided to keep calm.
Months later, the pastor had a revelation where he was told that the prayer he made for the man was answered, and a sum of two hundred and fifty million naira was paid. When he woke up, he called the man, but there was no response. The man he prayed and fasted for suddenly considered him a nuisance. The man he fed and clothed suddenly ignored him.
It’s easier to see people lament the evil pastors have committed, but no one is talking about the evil done to genuine men of God. Appreciation is key. Never forget the labor of any man of God.
Months later, the man called the pastor seeking forgiveness. He had lost everything, and according to him, a prophet told him to go apologize to the pastor.
The pastor told my husband he really didn’t wish or pray that evil should befall him, but he understands how these things work. Life is governed by principles, and gratitude is one.
