Before becoming Pope Leo XIV, Robert Prevost and his older brothers John and Louis grew up living “normal” lives like any other family.

Life was “like anyone elseʼs,” John Prevost said in an April 17 interview with “EWTN News In Depth.”

“It was regular — go to school, come home, do your homework, go out and play, come in, do your studying, go to bed, and then just repeat that.”

“Rob was in Cub Scouts. We were all altar servers,” he said. “I think we were all in the choir … We all went to Catholic education all the way through high school. So I think it was normal. We were out playing. Youʼd play outside until dusk.”

Recalling memories from his childhood, Prevost said: “One time we were building a shed in the backyard and Rob fell through the roof. It was just part of the wood was rotted, because we were using old doors from the house for the roof.”

Prevost and his brothers were also on “Bozoʼs Circus” in 1960. “It was a kids' program produced by the Chicago local channel WGN. It was an everyday show, and tickets were hard to get. But one of the guys who was in the WGN band taught music to the kids at my dadʼs school.”

*5,911 – Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace, transmitted in 4/16/2026*

Dear children, I am your Sorrowful Mother and I suffer for what is coming for you. Repent ye and turn ye to My Son Jesus. Only in Him is your true liberation and salvation. Humanity walks toward a great abyss and My poor children will drink the bitter chalice of suffering. Tell everyone that this is the time of grace. Days will come when many will repent of the life lived without God, but it will be too late. The great spiritual blindness has contaminated My poor children. Turn ye back. Be attentive. You live in the time of great tribulations and only those who pray will be able to bear the weight of the cross. Pray ye for the Church of My Jesus. Tears of pain and cries of lamentation. This is what will be seen in the House of God. Onward in love and in Truth! This is the message I transmit to you today in the name of the Most Holy Trinity. Thank you for allowing Me to gather you here once again. I bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Stay in peace.

_*“Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” (John 6:35)*_

- Today’s first reading concludes the story of St. Stephen, the first Christian Martyr. After the false witnesses spoke against him, Stephen was asked to defend himself before the Jewish Council. At this time, Christianity was not yet separated from Judaism. Christians were only identified as believers. Stephen reminded the Jews of how they had previously killed the prophets God sent to them and how they also killed Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Recall that Peter said the same thing to the council in Acts 5:30-32. But for Gamaliel’s timely intervention, Peter and the other apostles would have been lynched. Some lessons in today’s readings include:

1. The Reality of Heaven. While Stephen defended himself before the council, he said: “I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.” (Acts 7:56). This is what we profess in the Apostles Creed: “On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.” Do not live only for this life. There is a better home waiting for us in heaven. Do not be afraid to die in defence of the truth. Your reward will be great in heaven.

2. Like Seeds Along the Roadside: The behaviour of the Jewish council reminds me of the Parable of the Sower. These Jews can be likened to the seed that fell along the road; they heard the Gospel, but they never believed it. As Jesus puts it: “The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved.” (Luke 8:12, Mark 4:4). Some people cannot listen or accep

_*“Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life.” (John 6:26-27)*_

- Today, our First Reading presents the story of Saint Stephen, one of the seven deacons appointed by the early church to solve the problem of unfair food distribution between the Hebrews and Hellenists. Stephen was a gifted deacon, full of the Holy Spirit and blessed with wisdom, deep insight and the ability to see visions. In today’s Gospel passage, Jesus warns the crowds seeking Him that they must labour for food that endures (that is, guarantees eternal life). Although Stephen was appointed to serve at tables (labour for perishable food), he understood that he had a higher calling. Stephen’s life exemplifies one who laboured for the food of eternal life. Let us now consider today’s lessons.

1. Win Friends, Not Arguments: Not everyone who argues with you on matters of doctrine is interested in knowing the truth. Over the years, I have engaged in arguments regarding church teachings such as the doctrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary, life after death, devotion to the saints, the number of books in the Bible and so on. I have never won any of these arguments. Be careful with those you argue with. Like these men who disputed with Stephen, some people may use arguments as a mask to unleash their demonic agenda. Don’t try to win every argument. Some people want to be heard. Listen to them. Do not make enemies over matters of doctrine. Otherwise, the only person who gains is the devil.

2. Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil: Isn’t it shocking that people were paid to tell lies against Stephen in the community? Avoid being recruited by the devil and his agents to be used as

Jesus entered the Temple to bear witness to Truth and not to worship false gods. In our lifetime, The Pope visits the mosques moves within the same missionary logic and he gets to bring Christ with him which we all profess is the Truth. ✝️💫🕊️

Perhaps like these two disciples who decided to walk away, some of us here have become so disappointed with God and are already on our way to Emmaus (that is, thinking of abandoning the Christian faith). Does this apply to you? Today’s Message is for you.

*1. Even When We Walk Away from God, He Never Walks Away from Us*
Last Sunday, we read about how Jesus appeared to the disciples not just once but twice. They were locked up in a room for fear of the Jews. Jesus could see how troubled they were at heart; hence, the first thing He said was, “Peace be with you.” What does this tell us? We serve a God who deeply cares for us; a God who understands how we feel; a God who comes to meet us right where we are.

Like the disciples who were locked in a room out of fear, these two disciples were not at peace because they felt Jesus had failed to live up to their expectations. By joining these two disciples on their way to Emmaus, Jesus once again shows the depth of His love for His flock. Jesus shows that He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine in search of the one lost. (Cf. Luke 15:4).

It is precisely at those moments when we think God has left us that He is closest to us. You may be going through a very rough path right now, and you wonder why God would allow so-and-so to happen. You may be thinking it is all over for you. Don’t worry, God is right there with you.

Once upon a time, Jesus was alone in prayer, and his disciples were on a boat crossing to the other side. The winds and waves rose, and they feared for their lives. From a distance, Jesus could see what they were going through, and He decide

*🎤 JESUS OUR CLOSEST AND TRUSTED FRIEND*

Today, being the third Sunday of Easter, we are presented with one of the loveliest and interesting stories in the Gospel - the incident/event of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

But wait a minute, why were the two disciples leaving Jerusalem to Emmaus? Is it that they were going to continue the work of Evangelism there? Were they not supposed to continue with the mission entrusted to them by Jesus?

Beloved, the two disciples and the other disciples were in great confusion. After spending three years with Jesus and saw the power and authority that he has in teaching and performing miracles and the respect and success that He recorded which they too enjoyed and was hoping will continue that way, only for their hopes and expectations to be cut short as a result of His death. They were pained and disappointed that the three years they spent with Jesus were completely a waste of time. But in the midst of their hopelessness and confused state, Jesus never left them alone in their hopeless situation. He walked along with them to restore their hopes and joy.

This is also our story in our day to day experience of life. Some embraced Christianity with high hopes, thinking that pains and challenges of life are all over. Some are beginning to regret the vocation they embrace because things are no longer the way they expect it and so would want to go back to their former ways of life like the two disciples on the way to Emmaus.

In our journey of life, when we begin to experience regret, hopelessness, discouragements, and confusion, there are two ways or means we can get ourselves back on track, namely;

👉🏼 Through reading the Scriptures.
👉🏼 Through the breaking of Bread( the Holy Eucharist).

It was through the scriptures and breaking of Bread that the disciples were healed of t
