PRAYING LOUD VS. PRAYING SILENTLY: WHICH ONE IS MORE POWERFUL?

Just the way we talk to earthly parents and friends, prayer is talking or communicating, but not to our earthly parents or friends, but to our heavenly Father and friendโ€”God.

In Isaiah 65:25, the Bible says, "Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear."

Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:13 was praying in her heart; her lips were moving, but she made no sound. Her voice was not heard by others; she knew what she was saying, and God, to whom she was praying, also heard her. Also, Nehemiah prayed silently before answering King Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 2:4-5).

David in several Psalms prayed loudly. We are told in Psalm 34:17, 142:1 that he called on God for help loudly. Jesus also, we are told, cried out loud (Hebrews 5:7).

When Jesus taught in Matthew 6:6 about praying privately, he was emphasizing intimacy with our heavenly Father rather than public performance.

There are moments when we may not be able to pray aloud, such as when we are at work, in a public place, traveling, lying beside someone who is sleeping, in an environment where loud prayers would disturb others, or even in a meeting. We can still talk to God at such places and moments.

Loud prayer has its place. When the church gathers together, corporate prayer can be expressed audibly. Believers in Acts 4:24 prayed loudly, lifting their voices together to God.

Loud prayer can help us express our deep emotion before God, lead others in corporate prayer, and express urgency or even our spiritual burdens.

God hears both loud and silent prayers. Our God does not have a hearing problem. It all depends on you; you can pray aloud, whisper, or pray silently in your heart, and God will hear you in as much as you pray in faith with sincerity.

Pray. God wants to hear from you.

Hi there,

โ€œWe are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed but not driven to despair.โ€ โ€“ 2 Corinthians 4:8 NLT

Just like on roads, we experience and face potholes and bumps. Life sometimes can be smooth and, other times, rough with trials, disappointments, rejection, loss, temptation, persecution, and unexpected challenges.

Every vehicle that must move on the road has a shock absorber. The shock absorber does not remove potholes, rough roads, or bumps, but it helps the vehicle to absorb the impact of the roughness so that the vehicle can keep moving to its desired destination.

Faith does not remove difficulties; faith enables us to go through them without allowing them to destroy us nor shift our confidence from God.

We need to have faith in God as we move through life. Life may not be smooth, but with faith in God through Christ Jesus, we can face life without destruction.

Please develop your spiritual shock absorber. Thanks.

It is a good thing to be alive, but to be alive for nothing is one of the most serious tragedies that can happen to anyone.

Another side of this is being alive for the wrong reason. To be alive for the wrong reason means directing your energy in the wrong direction, investing your resources in the wrong direction, and giving your attention to the wrong things. You can name the rest.

Someone recently said that whatever makes you dislike Mondays may be a pointer that you are in the wrong assignment.

Life is not just about being alive; it is about discovering your purpose and making sure that your time, energy, resources, and attention are invested in the right assignment.
