WHAT DID YOU LEARN ?

* Let us stop calling our children bad names in the guise of disciplining them. Such names like isi ewu(goat head) etc would in the long run affect their lives negatively.

* Just remember that if you call your child is ewu that you are called nne is ewu. In addition there is power in the spoken word. Let every word and name we use on our children should reflect what we desire for their destiny. Speak what we want to see.

*: In addition there is power in the spoken word. Let every word and name we use on our children reflect what we desire for their destiny. Speak what we want to see
*Parenting is an intentional act to nurture
To develop
To teach
To guide properly
To discipline in love
To love
To train
And it is a godly exercise
Let us embrace it with care because we are mere caretakers
Word of God says my children will be taught of the Lord great shall be their peace
We are accountable to God who owns these ones

* We will also reap what we sow for God cannot be mocked

*Most times redeeming time is a near impossible situation it is like turning the hand of the clock to anti clock wise however good news is that
* PRAYER is the only KEY that works for doors that are shut in errors
On our knees to ask the Lord to make all wrongs right
To turn our mistakes into MIRACLES
Only him is the impossibility specialist and extraordinary strategist
His mercy are new every morning
Great is his faithfulness

*We also turn about the mistakes by blessing our children affected
Blessing someone is SPEAKING-WELL-of the person continually intentionally and consciously choosing your words well
God is never late
He appears at the eleventh hour to reverse every thing so that a living soul prospers all round
COMPILED..

*TOPIC: TO NURTURE TO GREATNESS*

Tabula rasa is a Latin word that means "blank slate." It is a philosophy which states that man is born as a blank slate void of any knowledge but acquires knowledge through his experiences and environment. While I would rather not be drawn into an argument of Nature vs Nurture', I strongly believe that a child receives the most powerful form of nurture while in its mother's womb. "...and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb" (Luke 1:14-15).

God is a God of process. He tells us that the incubation period of a child is vital for His purpose to be made manifest. Children have a way of revealing the person you truly are and the person you want to be. Often times, they give the best wake-up call for parents to step up and take responsibility for the greatest assignment of their lives. I often wonder what the world would be if, as parents, we understood the power and authority that we carry. If we understood that beyond the excitement of conception, our intentional efforts are required at every point in time to ensure that our children reflect the glory of God in their lives.

*"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thon walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up" (Deut. 6:7)*

*Daily Task:*
If you are a parent, create time to discuss with your child/children. Tell them some hidden truths about society and their life. If you are single make a positive impact in the life of a young person through life-changing discussions.

TOPIC: BURDENED BY LEADERSHIP

FOR READING & MEDITATION: 1 SAMUEL 30: 1 – 6 TLB

1 Three days later, when David and his men arrived home at their city of Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had raided the city and burned it to the ground,
2 carrying off all the women and children.
3 As David and his men looked at the ruins and realized what had happened to their families,
4 they wept until they could weep no more.
5 (David’s two wives, Ahinoam and Abigail, were among those who had been captured.)
6 David was seriously worried, for in their bitter grief for their children, his men began talking of killing him. But David took strength from the Lord.

MEDITATE:

From our reading today, you can draw your own conclusion on what it takes to be a leader. Suffice it to say that leadership at whatever level is not easy, especially in the church. When I observe how some of us angle for leadership positions in the church, I wonder if what drives us is the glamour of the work rather than the desire to serve.

Faced with what it really takes to be a leader, can you stand the heat? Are you ready to take both the praise and the stinging criticism that follows leadership from the same set of people? Let’s be clear, this is not to discourage you from seeking leadership position. It is good to serve the Lord. But let’s remind ourselves that that brother or sister heading a unit in the church or your pastor is not perfect. The fact that one is in that position does not mean one is an angel. They are still human but for the grace of God, they are in leadership position. We all have our limitations.

Let me share a personal testimony of how once, while returning to Nigeria after a brief stay in the US with my late wife, a certain lady offered to give us her contact so that if we stopped over in New York, we could visit her. I told my wife there was no need. I was so tired of our stay and all I wanted was to head home. I didn’t know that my wife had quietly collected the number on our behalf. We arrived New York late and missed our connecting flight. Because we did not have much money left, I panicked. "Honey, what are we going to do now? We’re stranded" I mumbled, my voice laced with anxiety. She looked at me and in her usual quiet manner asked, "What about that phone number?" "Which phone number?" I snapped. Then I remembered. Grateful she had it.

I called the number and in a few minutes the lady arrived in a very big car and took us to her home and made us comfortable. But there was something else that caught my attention and touched my heart. On the wall of her living room was a poster, which read: “Please be patient with me; God has not yet finished with me. The good work, which He has begun, He'll continue until the day of our Lord.” For me, it was a lesson learned. David’s experience was close when he and his men left their families in Ziklag and went to war. Before they returned, the enemy had invaded their camp, took away their families. They wept. “So David asked the Lord what he should do” [2 Samuel 5: 19, 25]. As a leader, if you ask the Lord, He will help you.

VERSE OF THE DAY: “David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” [1 Sam. 30: 6].

QUOTE: “As a leader, if you ask the Lord, He will direct and help you.”

PRAYER: Father, just take the lead and I will follow, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

TOPIC: A BALANCING ACT

FOR READING & MEDITATION: GENESIS 3: 1 – 6 TLB

1 The serpent was the craftiest of all the creatures the Lord God had made. So the serpent came to the woman. “Really?” he asked. “None of the fruit in the garden? God says you mustn’t eat any of it?”
2-3 “Of course we may eat it,” the woman told him. “It’s only the fruit from the tree at the center of the garden that we are not to eat. God says we mustn’t eat it or even touch it, or we will die.”
4 “That’s a lie!” the serpent hissed. “You’ll not die!
5 God knows very well that the instant you eat it you will become like him, for your eyes will be opened—you will be able to distinguish good from evil!”
6 The woman was convinced. How lovely and fresh looking it was! And it would make her so wise! So she ate some of the fruit and gave some to her husband, and he ate it too.

MEDITATE:

Yesterday, I glanced at a silent relationship principle in leadership that needs further expansion. Leadership skill is usually cultivated in relationship. Our reading today records that when Eve, influenced by Satan, saw that the fruit was good for food, pleasant to the eyes and could make one wise, took the fruit and ate. She then gave her husband who ate obviously without asking any questions.

Thank God for men who say, "I always consult my wife before taking any particular action." That is how it should be in marriage. But I also pray that in consulting their wives, men must appreciate that they are the priests of the home; that women have some peculiar qualities to be handled with caution. Yes, I agree totally that it is important we seek their opinion and carry them along in our decision-making process. But remember that women will always be women. There are certain issues of life where they can become easily so emotional that you have to wisely, lovingly and respectfully try to check or better still, help them. Otherwise, you would run into serious problems.

It appears that our father Adam was so open to consultation that when his wife brought the fruit, he was not careful enough to ask questions. God could well have excused Eve probably for not hearing directly from Him about His plan for the family but not so Adam. Remember that Satan began his conversation with Eve by cleverly reminding her that she did not hear directly from God: “Now the serpent was more crafty… He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden”? [Genesis 3: 1]. But Adam heard directly from God, who gave him the charge. So when his wife brought the fruit, he would have simply, to paraphrase, said, "Honey, wait a minute. I love you so dearly but this is contrary to what I heard from God. And if I obey you and eat this fruit we would be in trouble.” Explaining to his wife the implications of eating the fruit would have saved them from the impending disaster. Unfortunately, Adam was obviously negligent. That is the cause of the trouble we find ourselves in today.

To be clear, the same can be said of how in marriage relationship, wives can also be a check on the sometimes ego driven decisions of their husbands by asking questions and offering counsel. Either way, husbands and wives should complement each other, strike a balance and avoid problems.

VERSE OF THE DAY: “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die” [Genesis 3: 4].

QUOTE: “Husbands and wives should strike a balance to avoid problems.”

PRAYER: Gracious Father, endow us with Your grace to complement each other and make our homes Your sanctuary to Your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen

SEEK DAILY (NBC)

BE A RELIABLE DISCIPLE

Bible Text: 2 Timothy 2:1-2

Memory Verse: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” - 2 Timothy 2:2, NIV

Being reliable is one of the most valued traits in a person. It simply means doing what a person says he or she will do. Other words for reliable are: dependable, consistent, steadfast, unswerving, unfailing and trustworthy e.t.c. People who can be trusted to follow through in the little things are the people who can be trusted with the bigger things.
The above is in line with Apostle Paul’s charge to Timothy his spiritual son. He did not only encourage Timothy to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus but also urged him to share with others he knew are reliable (Christians and leaders) what he has heard from Paul. These reliable ones too are to teach others, and there should be a continual reciprocation. In essence, sharing of the message effectively can best be handled by reliable people.
When we gave our lives to Christ, we were more or less saying we will serve Christ and spread the message of the gospel. God is relying on us as faithful and reliable disciples to share the message of the kingdom with others. Reliable disciples are those who are faithfully discharging the task of sharing the gospel message to all. Desire to be one.

Insight: The three R's of winning teams are Reliability, Results and Relationships.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please make me a reliable vessel in your vineyard.
