These passages remind us that we cannot serve God on our own terms or according to our own timing. Following Christ is not something we should do only when it is convenient or when circumstances are favorable. God is not looking for part-time Christians; He is looking for men and women who are willing to devote themselves fully to Him and surrender their lives completely to Christ.
Moses is a powerful example of this kind of commitment. He had the opportunity to enjoy the riches, privileges, and pleasures of Egypt, but he chose instead to identify with the people of God. He understood that the pleasures of sin are only temporary, while the reward of following God is eternal.
Following Jesus requires complete commitment, self-denial, sacrifice, and obedience. It means being willing to let go of anything that stands between us and God. It means choosing Christ even when the choice is difficult, carrying our cross, and following Him wholeheartedly.
