PEOPLE OFTEN ASK ME THIS QUESTION: What made you convert from Islam to Christianity Pastor Ibrahim Dikko Ya'u?
I will share my own personal experience to this question. I love muslims. They are some of the kindest people you could meet. I followed the religion of my fathers I was absolutely convinced that Islam was the whole truth. My family are quite religious and prayed everyday, fasted and did their best to fulfil all requirements of a good Muslim practices.
THERE WERE SOME THINGS ABOUT ISLAM THAT I STRUGGLED TO UNDERSTAND.
1: Reciting Quran in Arabic? Every child born in Muslim family are taught to read Quran which is in Arabic. this is acceptable to God of muslims. Since I was a young child, I did not at all do very well unlike my older siblings. I was horrible at Arabic but I was trying each time because my father would physically discipline us. My Arabic teacher would used physical punishment as well because I was the worst in reading Arabic in my class. I felt unaccepted, wondered if God would also punish me too because I couldn’t read his book
2: Violence - no matter what a Muslim may tell you how peaceful thier religion is, what I read told me a different story. You can download Quran and search type kill/smite. My father taught me that one day we have to fight for Allah n defeat the enemy unless they become Muslim. History of their prophet shows how he conquered lands and various cities by forming an army of followers. Violence is definitely something that is practiced in Islam. For example to this day the most famous place of worship.
3: Polygamy: I witnessed this both in my own family and outside my family circle within Muslim community. My father was married multiple times. There was no love and unity.
AS A MUSLIM I didn’t STAND A CHANCE TO MAKE IT TO HEAVEN BECAUSE it’s ALL BASED ON GOOD WORKS.
