*TOPIC: TRUTH IS THE DOORWAY TO MERCY*
*SATURDAY 16TH AUGUST, 2025*
*Meditation:*
*Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.(Psalm 85:10)*
*Today's text: Psalm 85:10-13:*
Acknowledging the truth, especially about oneself and ones actions, is essential for receiving Gods mercy. True repentance actually begins when a person recognizes his shortcomings, confesses and forsakes them. *Proverbs 16:6:* By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. *Proverbs 28:13:* He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. A practical example is found in *Luke 19:8-9:* And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. Zacchaeus responded to the truth with contrition, remorse, repentance and restitution. Then, Jesus declared and confirmed that salvation had come to the life and house of Zacchaeus.
Again, when the Prodigal son faced the truth about himself, he received mercy and restoration: *Luke 15:17-24:* And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
