WHY WATCHING EVERY SERMON ONLINE WILL NOT MAKE YOU KNOW GOD
Many believers today think that constant sermon consumption equals spiritual growth.
This is not true.
You can watch sermons morning to night and still not know God, Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit personally.
Let’s explain with truth, logic, and Scripture.
1️⃣ INFORMATION IS NOT REVELATION
Social media gives information, but God is known by revelation.
“Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”
— Matthew 16:17
Knowing Bible verses is not the same as knowing God.
Information fills the head; revelation transforms the heart.
2️⃣ TOO MANY VOICES PRODUCE CONFUSION
Online platforms expose us to:
Different doctrines
Different interpretations
Different spiritual levels
Different motives
“If the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?”
— 1 Corinthians 14:8
When you listen to everyone, you end up confused and spiritually unstable.
“A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
— James 1:8
3️⃣ LOGIC CANNOT REPLACE THE HOLY SPIRIT
Many sermons today are:
Logical
Philosophical
Motivational
But God is Spirit.
“The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:14
Logic can explain religion, but only the Spirit reveals relationship.
4️⃣ SERMON ADDICTION CAN REPLACE OBEDIENCE
Listening does not equal obedience.
“Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?”
— Luke 6:46
If sermons are not leading you to:
Prayer
Repentance
Obedience
Character change
Then they are noise, not nourishment.
5️⃣ GOD IS OFTEN FOUND IN SILENCE, NOT NOISE
Social media is loud.
God often speaks quietly.
“The Lord was not in the wind… earthquake… or fire, but in a still small voice.”
— 1 Kings 19:11–12
If you don’t cultivate personal quiet time, you will hear men’s voices louder than God’s voice.
6️⃣ YOU CANNOT FOLLOW JESUS THROUGH ANOTHER MAN’S EXPERIENCE
You can be inspired by others, but you must encounter God personally.
“My sheep hear My voice.”
— John 10:27
Listening to many pastors does not replace hearing Jesus yourself.
7️⃣ GIFTS AND MANIFESTATIONS ARE NOT PROOF OF INTIMACY
Social media promotes:
Gifts
Signs
Miracles
But Jesus warned:
“Many will say… did we not prophesy in Your name?”
— Matthew 7:22–23
Gifts can function without intimacy.
8️⃣ THE RIGHT BALANCE
Listening to sermons is not wrong.
Depending on them is dangerous.
The correct order:
God first (prayer, Word, Spirit-led life)
Personal obedience
Local spiritual covering
Selective teachings, not everything online
“As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.”
— Romans 8:14
🔔 FINAL TRUTH
If you listen to everyone, you will follow no one.
If you listen to God first, others will only confirm, not confuse you.
God is not discovered by scrolling.
God is revealed through relationship.
