SCRIPTURAL UNDERSTANDING OF SUCCESS – John 1:1; Proverbs 10:4

Once you understand that the Bible says you will be a possessor in the land where you are a stranger (Gen. 17:8), you will succeed more than the citizens anywhere you settle. The colour of your skin does not stop you; it’s your lack of understanding that can stop you. When you have a correct understanding, nobody puts you under.

When you get understanding and you use it the way it is supposed to be used, God will back you up.

Do you understand how to start a project under God? Most Christians start projects by only reading books written by men that can fail. Why don’t you start your project the way God wants His people to start their projects?

Read John 1:1. What is the word of God that is at the beginning of what you are starting? Most Christians start without a word. Before you start anything, get a proceeding word from Heaven. Build every confession and activity on that word, and let that word be what fuels the atmosphere for the result.

When you want to start a business, it is not money that you need first to do the business; it is understanding that does business. The Bible is talking about you when it says, “…whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” (Psa. 1:3). It is not you that should be saying the economy is bad. Whatever you do will prosper except you are doing nothing. Many Christians are looking for prosperity without doing something. What are you doing?

PRAYER: I speak over myself, “The earth yields her increase for me. My location notwithstanding, I enjoy an all-around increase in Jesus’ name. Amen!”

SEEK A CORRECT UNDERSTANDING OF THE COVENANT (1) – Genesis 17:1-4; 1 Samuel 17:1-54; Esther 3:1-9:32

As a young boy, David saw how every Jewish boy was circumcised on the eighth day and wondered why they had to go through such a painful process. So, he asked questions, “Why are you doing this thing? I know they did it for me, but why are you doing it?” They explained to him that it meant the boy was entering a covenant with Jehovah. “What does that mean?”, David asked further. “It means his enemies become the enemies of God”, David was told. It was that understanding that David confronted a lion with. Or what guts do you think a 17-year-old boy will have to face a lion alone in the bush? He also confronted a bear. A bear is an animal that one bullet cannot stop, yet David rose and collected his lamb from it (1 Sam. 17:34-35).

Therefore, when David saw Goliath, he asked, “Who is this guy?” The first thing he verified was that Goliath had no circumcision. Although everybody looked at Goliath and said he was too big for them to fight, David looked at him and said, “He’s so big, I can’t miss him even if I close my eyes” (1 Sam. 17:23-26). That was an understanding he had.

That was the same thing that Mordecai had (Est. 3:1-4). Mordecai knew that the Jews had a covenant of “I shall be the head and not the tail (Deu. 28:13a)” with God. So, when he heard that the king had made Haman the head, he said that it was a mistake, and he would not bow to Haman. The people asked why he would not bow, and he said, “I’m a Jew.”

When you say I’m a Christian, what does it mean? The Bible describes Christians as ambassadors of Christ.

(2 Cor. 5:20)

PRAYER: Lord, I will not just read Your Word to increase my spiritual vocabulary. I receive understanding through the ministry of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen!

UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF CORRECT TITHING – Genesis 14:20; Hebrew 7:2

A woman’s baby was sick, and she took the baby to the church, but the pastor was not in the church. She also wanted to pay her tithe and sign the tithe card, so she put her tithe card on the baby and said, “God, when I’m back here, I want to meet my baby healthy because I’m not owing You and I cannot pay any extra money to doctors.” By the time she came back, she met her baby at the door knocking and crying, wanting to get out; the baby was healed. That woman understood the power of tithing.

Many people give their tithes without an understanding of what it means. They think they are doing the pastor a favour or helping to pay his salary when the Bible says in Malachi 3:11, “… I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes…” Lack of understanding has caused many to become nominal Christians. Another woman said to God, “God, You know I will help You if You are the one in the condition I am.” She understood her relationship with God.

Every champion of God entered the championship level on the ticket of understanding, not just the ticket of attending church.

The church is full of too many defeated people because of a lack of understanding. Study the Word of God until you understand. Start with reading, move to study, and then meditate. Ask questions until you understand exactly what God is saying.

PRAYER: Dear Father, thank You for opening my eyes to the truth in Your word. Help me to understand, practise, and obey the Kingdom principles You have given me in Jesus’ name. Amen!

CONFRONTING THE DEVIL WITH CORRECT UNDERSTANDING (2) – 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Don’t confront the devil with empty zeal but with an understanding that he is a defeated devil. Some young people get over-excited and go to face the devil with zeal instead of knowledge.

God doesn’t want you to confront the devil with beliefs; He wants you to confront the devil with knowledge.

Read another experience of Rev Sola Areogun:

We went to a village in those days for mission work and a false prophet also came to that village. He was ringing the bell around the streets, asking the villagers to meet him in front of the king’s house because he had a message for them from God. So, I went to meet him and confronted him. I asked who sent him and he asked if I was trying to resist him. I told him that God sent me to that village, and He did not tell me that He was sending another person to the same village. Then we concluded to meet at the king’s palace. I got some of the students to come along and said to them, “Let’s go and have fun tonight.”

We got to the palace, sat down and the man wanted to start preaching. The first thing he did was to offer me his Bible to read. I declined his offer and told him that we didn’t carry the same kind of spirit. He started his escapade and was teaching all kinds of nonsense. I interrupted him and said the Bible did not say what he was saying. He then wanted to start telling the people visions and said he would show them their enemies. I told him that he would not see any vision that night. He tried all his deceitful methods, but nothing worked. I frustrated the man so much that he could not do anything, and he left that village in shame.

PRAYER: Lord, my confidence is in You. I am made righteous in Christ, and I am bold as a lion in Jesus’ name. Amen!

CONFRONTING THE DEVIL WITH CORRECT UNDERSTANDING (1) – Numbers 23:23; Romans 8:11

Many years ago, Rev. Sola Areogun went for missionary work in a village. There was an occult man there and the Lord had shown him who he was. As they got talking, the man was speaking words with demonic meanings, and reverend replied with words from the scriptures. The occultic man said reverend was casting a spell on him, but I told reverend told him that they were just conversing. The occultic accused God's minister of been a witch. Reverend replied that all those witches were under his feet and he is above their ranks. He said, “Really?!” reverend said yes and told him what God said to Paul in Acts 26:14 that it would be hard for him to kick against the pricks. The man got up angrily and his wife came out, told reverend not to fight her husband, and begged me to leave. He told the woman that we were not fighting but simply having a conversation.

What gave reverend that confidence? It’s because he understood what happened when he gave is life to Christ. He is no more on the list of human beings that enchantments will work against. If you are born again, you are also not on that list.

There is no enchantment against you neither is there any divination against you, but if you don’t have that understanding, it will open you up to the devil.

He did not confront that man out of empty zeal but out of understanding. You need to be filled with understanding because too many people in the church are full of zeal without understanding.

PRAYER: Lord, I declare that the Spirit that broke the power of death and raised Jesus from the grave is living inside me. No enchantment can work against me in Jesus’ name. Amen!

UNDERSTANDING YOUR NEW LIFE IN CHRIST – 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:1-3

In the next couple of days, I will be dealing with critical areas of life where you need the correct understanding to operate. The greatest of all decisions a human being can make is to receive Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour.

As a person that is born again, you must know what has happened to you. When you gave your life to Christ, something radical and out of this world happened to you.

It doesn’t matter where you came from and the covenant that binds people there. Now that you are born again, you have entered a covenant relationship with Jesus that swallows up every other covenant you have ever had.

Jesus said, “Go in My name”. You must know what it means to go in somebody’s name. Lots of times, people confront the devil with zeal and not understanding. The Bible says in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you the authority….” What does this mean? Ask questions until you gain understanding. The seed of God is planted in you only when you gain an understanding of the word of God.

Jesus gave us a parable of the Kingdom in Mark 4. He said a sower went to sow seeds and some fell on the wayside. In explaining that parable, He said those that fell on the wayside were those that heard the word of God but did not understand it, and immediately after, Satan came and stole what was planted in their hearts. Once you lack understanding, it is as good as if you didn’t have that experience.

PRAYER: Thank You, Jesus, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death (Rom. 8:1). Amen!
