The One That Matters
In Gospel of Luke 15:4–7 and Gospel of Matthew 18:12–14, Jesus tells of a shepherd who left ninety-nine sheep to search for one that was lost. He did not choose based on preference or usefulness. He went after the one because it mattered.
That is the model of true leadership.
A real shepherd does not focus only on favorites while ignoring the one who is drifting, wounded, or silent. Leadership is not about protecting a circle of loyal supporters; it is about guarding every soul entrusted to you.
When leaders invest only in those who serve their interests and neglect the struggling one, they depart from the pattern of the Good Shepherd. The ninety-nine were safe, but the one was missing, and that was enough to move him.
The test of spiritual leadership is not numbers, noise, or loyalty, it is responsibility.
