THE REIGN OF GOD: MARRIAGE AND CHRISTIAN LIFESTYLE

1ST SUNDAY AFTER EASTER
Date: April 12, 2026
Sub Theme: Vital discussions in Courtship (1)
Topic: The Importance of Christian Courtship
Text: Psalms 37:3-5; Prov 3:5-7

Aims:
1) to expound the concept of courtship in christian marriage planning,
2) to analyse the areas of concentrations during the period, and
3) to discuss the spiritual values to adopt in courtship.

Introduction:
The Bible passages today encourage us to always commit our ways into the hands of God for a proper and successful ending. With this, we would realise the importance of courtship in marriage planning. Courtship is a period of relationship between a man and a woman in which they seek to determine if it is God’s will for them to marry each other. During courtship, intending couples are expected to become more exposed to each other's backgrounds and accustomed to each other's habits. It is a period for alignment of purposes, sharing of thoughts, feelings, aspirations, dreams, beliefs, ideals and values in other to test each other’s maturity, character and personality and to determine whether or not the couple really love each other and are seriously ready for marriage. However, it is very important to note that christian courtship is totally different from dating which is factored on selfish goals of having fun and enjoying romantic attachments; rather, christian courtship thrives on godliness, holiness, transparency and honesty through engagement in joint prayer, Bible study and church services together to strengthen their faith.

Conclusion:
Since christian courtship is a journey that allows a couple to make decisions of faith, love, commitment to each other and commitment to God, it is therefore necessary to thread the path in ways that will bring honour and glory to the name of God and christendom.

Food for Thought:
It is better to discover yourselves before marriage than after marriage.

Memory Verse:
Psalms 37:5 “Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass”.

EASTER SUNDAY

Sermon

‎Minister: REV. DR. JEPHTER ORJI
‎Text: John 20
‎Topic: HE IS RISEN

‎ Easter is the central celebration of our Christian faith. Our faith is dependent on the Easter which is the resurrection of Christ, therefore no Christian should toy with Easter celebration.

‎ Easter is the day we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus. It is observed 2 days after every good Friday.

‎ Easter is victory over death, sin. The Bible said as he was crucified, he went to the grave and collected key of death and sin.

‎In John 20, the Bible said that the women went to the tomb to anoint Jesus, and they found out that the stone has been rolled away from the tomb.
The disciples went away to their home but Marry Magdalene stood there and she must find out the people that rolled away the stone from the tomb.

‎As she was there insisting, the Bible said that a man (Jesus) appeared and called her and she started asking him of his master.

‎He called her again and she recognized his voice.

‎Marry Magdalene went to tell the world that Jesus is risen. She went and told the disciples that Jesus is risen that he was not stolen. That is when they remembered that Jesus will rise on the third Day.

‎He died, He rose, He will come again.

‎Easter tells us about the resurrection of Jesus.

‎ Significance of Easter:
‎1) Victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15) This means we are no longer bound to condemnation.
‎2) Assurance of internal life,
‎3) Confirmation of ministry,
‎4) New life and Transformation,
‎5) Foundation of Christian faith.

THE REIGN OF GOD: MARRIAGE AND CHRISTIAN LIFESTYLE

EASTER SUNDAY

Date: April 5, 2026
Sub Theme: God’s Injunction concerning Marriage (3)
Topic: Sacrificial Love
Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1 –7

Aims:
1) to understand the biblical principles of love and sacrifice as the cornerstone of a godly marriage, and
2) to explore practical ways to reflect Christ-like love and sacrificial living within the marital relationship.

Introduction
Sacrificial love is exemplifying selfless actions and putting the needs of others before one's own. Since marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect His love for humanity, therefore, love and sacrifice are the essential elements that bind a husband and wife together in unity and purpose. Our Bible passage today x-rays some biblical principles of love and sacrifice in christendom. This study will help couples understand how to embody these principles in their relationship, fostering peace, growth, and God’s glory in their union.

Conclusion
When married partners embody the principles of love and sacrifice, their marriage becomes a testimony of God’s grace and love. Let us commit to loving and serving one another as Christ loved and gave Himself for us through His death on the cross to redeem us from sin and reconcile us to God as well as conquering death to give us victory over death.

Food for Thought

A successful marriage requires undying commitment and selfless love at the centre of it all.

Memory Verse
1 Peter 4:8
“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins."

The Reign of God: Marriage and Christian Lifestyle

Date: Mar 29, 2026
Sub Theme: God’s Injunction concerning Marriage (2)
Topic: Faith-based Marital Lifestyle
Text: Proverbs 24:3-6, Matt 6:25-34.

Aims:
1) to highlight the importance of honouring and trusting God while managing household responsibilities, and
2) to study the biblical principles of balancing faith, family, and finances in Christian marriage.

Introduction:
Today is an important day in Christendom - the commemoration of the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into the city of Jerusalem. As we celebrate, may God continue to reign in our lives as well as in our marital lifestyles in Jesus’ name. Christian lifestyle in marriage involves balancing spiritual devotion, family responsibilities, and financial stewardship under God's guidance. Our Bible passages expose wisdom and understanding as the foundation for a strong household and urge believers to trust God in their daily needs. When couples align their priorities with God’s will, they experience peace, stability, and divine provision.

Conclusion:
A Christ-centred marriage thrives when faith, family, and finances are managed with wisdom and trust in God. When christian couples live by biblical principles, they become testimonies of God’s provision and faithfulness.

Food for Thought:
‘Wisdom builds a home; faith sustains it."

Memory Verse:
Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”.

‎Sermon
‎Minister: REV. DR. JEPHTER ORJI
‎Topic: WHAT A SACRIFICE
‎Text: Luke 19:33-35, Philippians 2:5-9

‎Palm Sunday is a ceremony to commemorate the death of Jesus.
‎It is a Sunday to prove to Christ that he is the king of kings. It has significant in our faith, it's part of mission, it's part of evangelism.

‎Sacrifice is an act of giving up something valuable such as your time, possession, comfort or even life for the sake of higher purpose or sake of one's believe. It is also offering something to God as an act of worship, obedience, and adornment.

‎The bible said that the disciples went to loose the c**t, and the owner asked why they are loosing it and they told him that the master is in need of it and he told them to go ahead and loose it (Luke 33-34)

‎Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you which is in Christ Jesus, the mind of no reputation. Jesus took upon him the ‎form of servant for our sake.

‎Verse 8: He humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death at the cross.

‎Verse 9: Because of the humility, God exalted him and gave him name that is above every name.

‎Let us learn to make sacrifice to God in humility and obedience.
‎The area our sacrifices are needed include the area of evangelism, giving, gathering, service.
