*Topic: The oil that never runs dry
*Text: 2 Kings 4:1-7
*Preacher: Pastor Iboro Akam

1. Oil is symbolic: it represents the anointing*
Oil in scripture isn’t just for cooking. It speaks of God’s Spirit, presence, and consecration.
Luke 4:18_ — “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me...”

2. Oil as Provision, not just milk and Milo
God’s provision goes beyond daily basics. The widow didn’t get a sack of grain, she got a supply that could pay debt and sustain her.
2 Kings 4:7_ — “...Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”

3. Oil as Healing
Oil was used to soothe, restore, and bring wholeness. God’s anointing heals what medicine and money can’t reach.
James 5:14_ — “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders... and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.”

4. Oil as Light that will never go dry
Oil kept the lamp burning. When you carry God’s oil, your light, purpose, and testimony don’t go out.
Matthew 25:4_ — “But the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.”

5. God does not provide without you contributing
The prophet didn’t pour the oil for her. She had to borrow vessels and pour. Heaven moves when we move.
2 Kings 4:3_ — “Go outside, borrow vessels... and pour the oil.”

6. God always starts with whatever you have, because He deposited something in every living creature
He asked her, “What do you have?” He never starts from zero. He multiplies what’s already in your hand.
Mark 6:38_ — “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.”

7. Everyman has something
Nobody is empty. Skills, faith, a jar of oil, a little obedience, God can work with it.
1 Peter 4:10_ — “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

The oil never ran dry because she kept pouring, and she kept making room with empty vessels.

BIBLE STUDY

Topic: What Is in Your Heart Determines What You Say

Key Thoughts

- What is stored in your heart will eventually come out through your words and actions.
- You often express what you consistently meditate on and allow into your heart.
- Do not live your life according to how people describe you. Let God's Word define who you are.

How to Expand Capacity

1. By Spending Time with God

Spending quality time with God through prayer, worship, and studying His Word increases our spiritual capacity. The more time we spend with Him, the more we understand His ways and develop His character.

Bible Verse:
James 4:8 — “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

2. Renew Your Mind with God's Teaching

To expand your capacity, you must change the way you think. God's Word helps us replace negative, limiting and worldly thoughts with God's perspective.

Bible Verse:
Romans 12:2 — “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

3. Living in Obedience

Capacity increases when we practice what God tells us. Obedience positions us to handle greater responsibilities and blessings.

Bible Verse:
Deuteronomy 28:1 — “If you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God... the LORD your God will set you high above all nations.”

4. Giving Generously

Generosity expands the heart. When we learn to give freely—our resources, time, knowledge and love—we develop the capacity to receive and manage more.

Bible Verse:
Luke 6:38 — “Give, and it will be given to you... For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

5. Walking by Faith / Serving Faithfully

Faith enables us to move beyond our present limitations, while faithful service prepares us for greater responsibilities. God can trust people who remain faithful with what is already in their hands.

Bible Verse:
Luke 16:10 — “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.”

Expanding your capacity begins from within. As you spend time with God, renew your mind, obey His Word, give generously, and walk by faith while serving faithfully, you become prepared to carry greater responsibilities, opportunities and blessings.
What God wants to put into your hands may require Him to first increase what you can carry in your heart, mind and character.
