SUNDAY SCHOOL
LESSON 12:

TOPIC: THE MYSTERY OF FAITH

Memory Verse:
"Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience." 1 Timothy 3:9.

TEXT OF THE STUDY: "Hebrews 11:3-11"

Opening Prayer:

Father, please help me to understand what faith is all about!

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

The ultimate goal of the Christian life is to please God. Pleasing God is accomplished by faith (Heb.11:6). Faith is the foundation of the Christian life and the principle that brings us to Jesus Christ. An understanding of what faith is will help us grow in our walk with the Lord.

LESSON OUTLINES:

LESSON OUTLINES 1: A DESCRIPTION OF FAITH

FAITH CAN BE DESCRIBED AS:
A The currency of believers (Mk
9:23).
FOR INSTANCE:
I. When God created the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1:1, as well as everything we see (the stars, moon, and light), we understand by faith (Heb. 11:3)

ii. Faith works where we cannot see (Heb. 11:1); it is the substance of things hoped for.

iii. Faith is predicting your future (Ps. 27:13): it is shaping your future by speaking and confessing it (Mk. 11:24)

iv. Faith is the act of declearing and decreeing (Mk. 11:23; Job 22:28): it
is the vehicle that moves God (Matt.8:9-10; 15:25-28)

B. The pillar for salvation (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 10:9-10): pursuing a Christ-like life is a demonstration of faith (Heb. 10:38-39)

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: What does faith means to you.

LESSON OUTLINE 2: STAGES OF
FAITH

Faith can be explained in three stages:

A. THE FAITH THAT SECURES OUR SALVATION AND MAKES US FOLLOWERS OF JESUS.

I. It is fundamental theology and the core of what we believe as Christians
(Rom. 10:4: Eph. 1:13).

ii. It is what makes as believers (Jn 1:12)

iii. This faith is what separates Christianity from other religions (1Jn 4:1-3).

B. THE FAITH IS AN ACT, ART AND THE SCIENCE OF BELIEVING.

I. It is the practical aspect of cur
profession as Christians.

ii. It makes us hold on to the word of promises of God against all odds.
(Rom. 4:18-21)

C THE LIFESTYLE OF FAITH

I. This is when faith has become our
lifestyle, we live it.

ii. At this stage, it is impossible not no believe in God. We do not stagger at what we see or experience (Dan 3:16-18; Acts 21:11-13)

Class Activity 2: What stage of faith you think you are in.

SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON 10

TOPIC: The Efficacy of the WORD

Memory Verse:
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

TEXT OF THE STUDY:
John 2:1-5

Opening Prayer:
Father, teach me what your word can do.

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

God leads His children in definite ways. He loves to speak plainly with His own but when He speaks in codes or uses signs and symbols, it is important that the recipients of such messages return to ask for the meaning, or else the purpose of the communication Is defeated When the purpose of God's word is known, its accomplishment is inevitable.

Evening

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. — Matthew 5:9

This is the seventh of the beatitudes: and seven was the number of perfection among the Hebrews. It may be that the Saviour placed the peacemaker the seventh upon the list because he most nearly approaches the perfect man in Christ Jesus. He who would have perfect blessedness, so far as it can be enjoyed on earth, must attain to this seventh benediction, and become a peacemaker. There is a significance also in the position of the text. The verse which precedes it speaks of the blessedness of “the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” It is well to understand that we are to be “first pure, then peaceable.” Our peaceableness is never to be a compact with sin, or toleration of evil. We must set our faces like flints against everything which is contrary to God and his holiness: purity being in our souls a settled matter, we can go on to peaceableness. Not less does the verse that follows seem to have been put there on purpose. However peaceable we may be in this world, yet we shall be misrepresented and misunderstood: and no marvel, for even the Prince of Peace, by his very peacefulness, brought fire upon the earth. He himself, though he loved mankind, and did no ill, was “despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” Lest, therefore, the peaceable in heart should be surprised when they meet with enemies, it is added in the following verse, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Thus, the peacemakers are not only pronounced to be blessed, but they are compassed about with blessings. Lord, give us grace to climb to this seventh beatitude! Purify our minds that we may be “first pure, then peaceable,” and fortify our souls, that our peaceableness may not lead us into cowardice and despair, when for thy sake we are persecuted.
