Preserving the Apostolic Order: The Truth About Women in Church Leadership!
Greetings to all believers in Christ Jesus.
Grace and peace be unto you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
In these last days, many well-meaning believers have embraced traditions and modern ideas that appear compassionate but drift away from the pattern established by Christ and His Apostles. One of such is the ordination of women into the Five-Fold Ministry — Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers. This must be addressed in the light of Scripture and Apostolic order.
First, we must establish a vital truth: in Christ, all believers—male and female—are made part of the royal priesthood.
The Bible teaches that through faith in Christ, we are all brought into God’s family:
“And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” — 2 Corinthians 6:18
This means both men and women have equal access to God, equal inheritance in Christ, and equal right to offer spiritual sacrifices of prayer, worship, thanksgiving, and intercession. This is what it means to be part of the royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Under the Old Covenant, women could not serve in priestly functions, but in Christ, all believers now stand before God as priests.
However, priesthood is not the same as ministerial governance.
While all believers are priests, not all believers are called to govern, teach, or lead the Church through the Five-Fold Ministry. These offices are not about access to God; they are about authority, order, and spiritual oversight.
The Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, made this distinction very clear.
“Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man…” — 1 Timothy 2:11–12
This was not a statement of inferiority but a declaration of divine order. Paul went further to root this in God’s original design:
“For Adam was first formed, then Eve.” — 1 Timothy 2:13
Paul also instructed the Corinthian church:
“Let your women keep silence in the churches… they are commanded to be under obedience…” — 1 Corinthians 14:34
This does not forbid women from praying, worshipping, or prophesying (see 1 Corinthians 11:5). It speaks specifically to authoritative teaching and spiritual governance in the public assembly of the Church.
God’s order of headship is clearly stated:
“The head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” — 1 Corinthians 11:3
Even Christ submitted to the Father, not because He was inferior, but because divine order produces divine glory.
When Paul described the qualifications for Church leadership, he was explicit:
“If a man desire the office of a bishop… A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife…” — 1 Timothy 3:1–2
The offices of bishop, elder, pastor, and overseer were given within apostolic order to qualified men — not because women are lesser, but because God governs His Church through spiritual headship.
So what then is the place of women in Christ?
Women are:
▪️Daughters of God (2 Corinthians 6:18)
Members of the royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9)
▪️Called to pray, intercede, prophesy, worship, teach other women, raise disciples, and advance the Gospel.
But the Five-Fold Ministry and Church government are not gender-neutral roles. They are offices of spiritual authority and divine order.
To ordain women as Apostles, Pastors, or Elders is not progress — it is a departure from Apostolic doctrine.
The Church does not have the right to rewrite what the Holy Spirit has already established through the Apostles.
