TOPIC: Fear Not
TEXT: Gen. 15:1; Luke 12:6-7
Introduction
Fear is the worry of the future. It is a strong and unpleasant grip of emotion, and it is one of the devil's favourite tools to limit us from God's plan and purpose for our lives. Fear blocks our ability to receive from God, yet God does not want us to worry. He calls us to trust Him in every season.
How Fear Gains Ground
The devil strengthens fear through the information we listen to. What we watch and dwell on shapes how we see our future. Left unchecked, negative words and reports can grow into overwhelming fear. We must be careful what we allow into our minds.
Four Ways to Overcome Fear
1. Be an Ardent Reader of God's Word Faith comes by hearing God's word. The more we meditate on Scripture, the less room fear has to stand.
2. Live Prayerfully Prayer exchanges our worries for God's peace. A consistent prayer life keeps our hearts anchored no matter what happens around us.
3. Walk in Righteousness Righteousness gives us boldness before God. A clean heart brings peace of mind, while sin and guilt often open the door to fear.
4. Know Who You Are in Christ Fear thrives when we forget our identity. In Christ, we are children of God and more than conquerors. Knowing this breaks fear's power over us.
Conclusion
Fear magnifies obstacles; faith magnifies God. Let us choose faith over fear by feeding on God's word, praying without ceasing, walking in righteousness, and standing firm in who we are in Christ. As we do, fear will lose its grip, and we will walk boldly in God's purpose for our lives.
May God strengthen our hearts and fill us with faith, in Jesus' name. Amen.
