Dear teenager,
If you feel exhausted today, you should read this.
I know how you feel. I really do. And I know you've thought of giving up, multiple times. It would be just so easy, wouldn't it? To let go and not trouble yourself over it anymore. Nobody cares anyway, do they?
They really don't.
But that is exactly why you should not give up. That is exactly why you should keep fighting. Because in this world of people who do not care, you need to be the one who does. The one who holds on tight when everyone else would let go, not because you're stronger or better, but just because it is the right thing to do.
You won't win at first. Maybe your first win will take ages to come. But one day you will have one win. Then another. And another. And one day, you will win so easily that people will look at you and wonder how you make it all seem so effortless.
And no one will know your bloodied hands, which held on when it was easier to just let go. No one will see your back filled with scars which were scratched by the demons who tried to stop you. And they will talk about how they knew you always had it in you when in fact secretly, they were all just wishing you'd fail too.
And that's okay. Just because the world is dark doesn't mean you need to dull your shine. It doesn't mean you need to be heartless too.
You need to shine brighter, in fact. Not because you can.
But because you should. It's just that simple.
