Our identity in Christ is a profound and multifaceted concept that shapes the core of Christian faith and practice. Here are some key aspects:

*Who We Are in Christ:*

1. *Children of God*: Through faith in Jesus Christ, believers are adopted into God's family, becoming His children (John 1:12, Romans 8:15-16).
2. *Redeemed*: Christ's sacrifice on the cross redeems us from sin and its consequences, making us new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 3:13).
3. *Forgiven*: In Christ, we receive forgiveness for our sins, and our relationship with God is restored (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14).
4. *Sons and Daughters of the King*: As believers, we are heirs to God's promises and part of His royal family (Romans 8:17, James 2:5).

*Implications of Our Identity:*

1. *New Identity*: Our identity in Christ redefines who we are and how we live, giving us a new sense of purpose and direction (2 Corinthians 5:17).
2. *Freedom and Empowerment*: Knowing we are loved and accepted in Christ gives us the freedom to live authentically and empowers us to serve others (Galatians 5:1, 2 Corinthians 5:18-21).
3. *Security and Hope*: Our identity in Christ provides us with eternal security and hope, knowing we are loved and valued by God (Romans 8:28-30, 1 Peter 1:3-5).
4. *Community and Belonging*: As part of the body of Christ, believers are part of a community that shares a common identity and mission (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 4:1-16).

*Living Out Our Identity:*

1. *Reflecting Christ*: As believers, we are called to reflect Christ's character and love to the world (Matthew 5:16, 2 Corinthians 3:18).
2. *Walking in Love*: Living out our identity in Christ involves walking in love, humility, and service towards others (Ephesians 5:1-2, Philippians 2:3-8).
3. *Pursuing Holiness*: Our identity in Christ calls us to pursue holiness and live lives that honor God (1 Peter 1:13-16, 2 Timothy 1:9).

By understanding and embracing our identity in Christ, we can live with confidence, hope, and purpose, knowing who we are and whose we are.

*"Transformed by Grace"*

In darkness, we once dwelled,
Lost in sin, our souls compelled.
But then Christ came, with love so bright,
To rescue us, and bring new light.

His sacrifice, a gift so grand,
Paid the price, for our sinful hand.
Through faith, we're justified, made new,
Our hearts transformed, our lives renewed.

With every step, we're freed from chains,
Our burdens lifted, our hearts regain.
The weight of guilt, no longer bears,
We're clothed in righteousness, with joy that shares.

In Christ, we're adopted, made His own,
Heirs to glory, forever home.
Our lives, a testament, to His great love,
A love that saves, sent from above.

Through Christ's salvation, we're set free,
From sin's dark grasp, to live wild and carefree.
With gratitude, we sing His praise,
For the gift of life, in His redeeming ways.

May this poem reflect the transformative power of Christ's salvation in our lives.

DAILY READINGS FROM THE LIFE OF CHRIST

PRACTICING MERCY
“‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy’” (Matthew 5:7).

The most obvious way we can show mercy is through physical acts. Jesus specifically commands us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, and offer any other practical help to those who need it. When we serve others in need, we demonstrate a heart of mercy.
The way of mercy did not begin in the New Testament. The Old Testament law taught, “You shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks” (Deut. 15:7–8).
Mercy is also to be shown in our attitudes. Mercy does not hold a grudge, harbor resentment, capitalize on another’s failure or weakness, or publicize another’s sin.
Mercy is also to be shown spiritually. First, it is shown through pity. The sensitive Christian will grieve more for lost souls than for lost bodies. Second, we are to show spiritual mercy by confrontation. Paul says that, as Christ’s servants, we should gently correct “those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim. 2:25). Third, we are to show spiritual mercy by praying. The sacrifice of prayer for those without God is an act of mercy. Finally, we are to show mercy by proclaiming the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the most merciful thing we can do.

Ask Yourself
How has your life been transformed by being the blessed recipient of these various acts and expressions of mercy? What might occur in the lives of your children, your spouse, your parents, your friends—anyone to whom you begin to show consistent compassion?

Your spitual growth is our priority

*Daily Reflections*
*Monday, 16th December 2024*

Topic: *Can A Christian Lose His Salvation?*

📚 *Sincere believers are sharply divided on this question.* Some say Christians can lose their salvation and subsequently *must be born again and again,* if they fall away.

📚Others contend that true believers cannot lose their salvation through sin, but they can apostatize or walk away from their salvation.

📚Still others hold that salvation begins at the moment of conversion (not deaths) and continues for all eternity. *I hold this view for several reasons:*

📚 *First:* Outward appearances can be deceiving. *Consider Judas.* For three years, he was part of Christ's disciples. From all *outward appearances,* he was a true follower of Christ. Yet, Jesus characterized Judas as *"a devil"* (John 6:70).

📚The Book of Hebrews warns us that there were Jews who, like Judas, tasted God's goodness and yet turned from His grace. *They acknowledged Christ with their lips, but their apostasy proved that their faith was not real.*

📚Furthermore, we would do well to remember that *everlasting life* just means *everlasting life.* This everlasting life does not begin when we die, but when we embrace the Lord Jesus Christ who died in our place. As our physical birth can never be undone. Christ says, *_"You must be born again"_* (John 3:7), not _"you must be born again and again."_ In Philippians 1:6, Paul praises God for the confidence that, *_"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion"_*

📚 *Finally,* Scripture is replete with *passages that testify to the security of the believer.* 🔹John 5:24 assures us that, *_"He who believes, has everlasting life."_*
🔹I Corinthians 1:8 promises that God will *_"keep you strong to the end"_*
🔹Jude 24 guarantees that God *_"is able to keep us from falling and to present us before His glorious presence without fault."_*
🔹Moreover, Ephesians provides the surety the *_"we were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession"_* (1:13,14). As has been well said, *_"The Lord's trees are evergreen."_*

*Question for Reflection*
✍️Are you eternally secured, or are you going to lose your salvation?

*Shalom & Maranatha !*
