PREACHER: REV'D IDIKA CHIJIOKE VALENTINE
TOPIC: GRACE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE {2}
1st Lesson: Genesis 37:1-36
2nd Lesson: 1Cor 12: 1-11
Grace is the uncreated energy freely given and actively working through and for us.
Grace is divine life shared with humanity.
A gift can stress you but Grace can never stress you. You don't just have a gift and relax. Your gift can put you in trouble, but only grace can deliver you. Joseph's brothers saw the gift but not the Grace. The gift of a man attracts envy, but the Grace of God attracts favour. If you have only gifts without Grace, you're a target.
Grace amplifies your small skills to having great results. Many people do not fall because of incompetency, but because their inferior lives is yet to be touched by Grace.
Every gift is a product of Grace. (ROM 12:6a)
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN GIFT AND GRACE
1. They all emanate from the Divine. Both of them come from above.
2. Their purpose is to cause an effect.
WHAT GRACE CAN DO THAT GIFT CANNOT
1. Grace has a large coverage, but gift has a small coverage. Grace is a larger umbrella than gift. {John 3:16}, {Eph 4: 7-11}. For God so loved the world.... (Grace). Now these are the gifts Christ gave..... (Eph 4:11)
2. Grace is consistent, but gifts are not. Grace has the power of working always but gift only functions when a man is willing or ready. Gifts can't function where there is no willingness. When the gift of a man cannot see a thing, grace can see it. Gift may not see all but Grace sees all. {Matt 25:14-25}; {2Cor 9:8}; {2Cor 12:9}; {1Peter 4:10}. You work to develop your gifts, but Grace works on you.
3. Grace has no end, but a gift has an end. Grace is unlimited. A man can lose a gift but man cannot lose Grace. When you have a gift and you don't feed it, you'll kill it. Your sin can kill your gift but it cannot kill Grace. We don't go for grace, rather Grace comes to us. {Titus 2:11}; {John 1:16}; {1Cor 13:8-13}. Prophecy (gift) will fail but Grace remains. Grace endureth forever. Where gift ends, Grace takes you beyond that.
