SERIES: THE MYTH CALLED UNANSWERED PRAYER

Key text: James 1: 5
[5] If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

We observed James opinion about prayer and we explained that James sees prayer as solution, and he directs us to pray about everything. He has a mindset that prayer can handle anything and he also thinks that prayer is the first thing to do whenever we face any issue.

Also, James let's us know that men of old experienced difficulties but they still prayed. James is seen as a prayer man, who even though a physician but priorities prayer. He is confident that there's an answer to prayer.

In continue Jesus teaching on prayer in Matt 6 and Mark 5, we observed that he taught by precept and example. Jesus is God and he teaches. What we teach must be in line with what Jesus taught and do. We saw him teach and pray. If Jesus has a secret the one that was so obvious is prayer.

Satan fights our prayer life than our study life, because the one who prays will surely study. The strength of all you'll do rest on your prayer life.

People can have zeal to pray, but it doesn't mean that they know how to pray. Therefore, this series teaches us how t pray and as well as serves as a correction to some certain myths about prayer.

Jesus teaching on prayer shows that closet here means prayer is not a show. It's not done to show people that you can pray. Jesus is saying that prayer is between you and your God. The stress is to talk your God.

Reward here as it were means answers and results. Answers to prayer are visible.

James calls God, your father, which brings us into a relationship with him. Matt 6 shows us that repetition means empty words in prayer. God does not want our prayer to be filled with unnecessary speaking. We bring our mindset into Bible and form vain repetition.

Finally, Answers to prayer itself is a miracle. The strength of prayer weighs on God. The word of God is for me to build my faith

SERIES: THE MYTH CALLED UNANSWERED PRAYER

Key text: James 1: 5
[5] If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

We continue by explaining that the aim of James 1: 5 - 8 which is our anchor scriptures is to prove the fact that God is a prayer answering God.

As previously mentioned, we've understood as well that lack here means not enough wisdom or insights. Hence, we ask of God who gives. If you know that God gives liberally, sincerely and honestly, it gives you the boldness to ask.

Also, James wants you to know that God gives to all - rich or poor, black or white and even animals. Because God is a giver, he gives to all liberally.

Having further observed that liberally and generosity are different in greek. We lay hold on the greek word sincerity. A sincere man is someone you can trust. Therefore, God is someone you can trust much more to give always.

We have a father who is a giving father. Only goodness comes from him. Answering our prayers is based on his goodness. So when prayer is made, there's always an answer. We saw that James uses a strong word shall, which shows certainty. It means when it comes to God giving, it is certain.

Faith in this context means assurance, and it's based on God's character. What brings doubts in prayer is ignorant of the character of God.

Looking at the role in manifesting answers, we discovered that there's the role of God and there's the role that we play in prayer.

A brief outline of JESUS TEACHING ON PRAYER as found in Mathews 6, Luke 11:1
1. Jesus agrees that prayer should be taught
2. Prayer is not all about God
3. Prayer goes with results, that's why John's disciples came to be taught.

You must be taught how to pray, you have to understand what prayer is all about before you pray in order to command results.

What Jesus taught in prayer reveals that:
1. Prayer is to God: it's about sincerity, and business with God.
2. Prayer gives you peace of mind against fear and worry
3. Prayer is striking the right cord in getting the need met
4. Prayer is about asking and receiving
5. Prayer is making a demand.

We conclude by reemphasizing that theologians have made us to understand that there is nothing like unanswered prayer. The aim of prayer is to release God's power. Hence, answers to prayer is dependent on the power of God.

SERIES: THE MYTH CALLED UNANSWERED PRAYER

People command results based on what they know. Therefore you have to learn to apply your strength in knowledge. You have to study to know how to receive in prayer. Knowledge is number one in the things of God. Don't stop knowing God, because knowing God is the only way your life is transformed.

In understanding the MYTH CALLED UNANSWERED PRAYER, James 1: 5-8 gives us a spiritual wisdom and insights into God's knowledge. The knowledge of God's word let's you know that you can pray for wisdom.

James 1: 5 - 8 as explained shows that the word LACK does not mean we don't have wisdom, but rather it means DEFICIENCY. It's about deficiency in spiritual insights towards God's word. Therefore, you can pray for wisdom.

Explaining the word liberally in Greek, three synonymous words helps us to understand it's true meaning, which includes Haplos, Haplous and Haplotace.

Haplos here is used once, and it means simply, openly, frankly and sincerely.

Haplous means folded together that is single. Single here means sound.

Haplotace is translated as singleness, sincerity, simplicity and mental honesty.

Thus, liberally is not about GENEROSITY, but sincerity, single mindedness and honesty. It means we can trust God in giving. It means we are sure, he will give. When it comes to answering prayers, God is sure in answering our prayers. He gives sincerely, assuredly and honestly.

Prayer also goes with desire, and it must agree with your mouth. You don't pray with deception in your mind. You don't use your head to think about why God would not do something for you, that is working against your prayer with your mind. Answer to prayers goes with striking a balance with the right key. Answer to prayers also is God demonstrating his mercy and kindness.

God is a kind God who answers prayer. There's the side of God answering prayers and there's the side of you receiving answers and the side of you manifesting answers. As believers, we must learn about receiving from the power of God. We must learn to understand the part we have to play, because God always plays his role of answering. The other side is also determined by how you command answers and results.

Furthermore, faith in prayer as observed in James 1, deals with assurance and conviction. Therefore, before you pray you must deal with doubt. Doubt will make you not to receive.

Finally, James 1 is stressing the fact that God is sure, singleminded, and sincere in answering our prayer, therefore there's no such thing as unanswered prayer.

God is a kind God who answers our prayers.
