Zone Conference Reflections

Called to the Work | Nigeria Aba Mission 🇳🇬

We were blessed to gather for our Zone Conference centered on the theme “Fulfilling Your Divine Mission Calling and Assignment.”

Through inspired instruction, scripture study, discussion, and reflection, our missionaries were reminded that missionary service is more than an assignment—it is a divine calling to represent Jesus Christ and bless the lives of others.

We focused on becoming true disciples of Christ, strengthening our commitment to the work, exercising faith, loving those we serve, and faithfully fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to us.

As we continue to “go forth” with faith and purpose, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and invite others to come unto Christ.

“Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work.” — [Doctrine and Covenants 64:33]

We discussed what it means to be “anxiously engaged”. We role-played real situations: a discouraged missionary, a struggling companionship, an area with few to teach. The question wasn’t “What would a passive person do?” but “What would an anxiously engaged disciple do?”

“Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;” [Doctrine and Covenants 58:27]

The Spirit was strong as we learned that taking care of our bodies is part of the work.

“Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord.” [Doctrine and Covenants 38:42]

Hygiene, housing, food, rest, medicine, and communication are not distractions. “As we care for the body God has given us, we increase our capacity to serve Him and bless His children.”

We committed to a daily standard to maintain cleanliness, keep our apartment safe and orderly, protect our health, and seek help early. Seeking help is not weakness. It is responsible stewardship.

Departing missionaries also shared heartfelt testimonies that touched every heart in the room.
They unanimously testified that the Lord magnifies us when we are obedient.
Their words challenged all of us to renew our commitment and share the gospel with greater boldness.

We are grateful for the example of those going home, and for the charge we’ve been given to carry their spirit forward. Their service has left a mark on the Nigeria Aba Mission, and now it’s our turn to keep building.

Let’s go forward with faith, diligence, and hearts set on the work of salvation and exaltation!

TRAINERS & TRAINEES' COUNCIL JULY 2026

This past week, our New Missionaries met with their Trainers for a Council. A sacred time of instruction, unity, and revelation.

Trainers carry a holy responsibility to prepare the Lord’s newest servants. The focus was clear: training isn’t just about passing on skills. It’s about loving your companion, living your covenants, and inviting the Spirit to do the teaching.

To our new missionaries: Be humble learners. Listen with your heart, act in faith, and put into practice what you’re learning right away. You were also taught how to properly record and report concerns in your areas. Your teachable spirit and diligence invite the Spirit and accelerate your growth [D&C 112:10]. You weren’t only called to be trained you were called to become leaders.

Thank you to all who poured their hearts into this council. The fields are already white [D&C 4:4], and as you serve with faith, the Lord will multiply your work.

Stand strong in faith and look for the Lord’s hand. Go forward with purpose and power! [D&C 123:17]

WELCOME, FAITHFUL SERVANTS OF CHRIST

What a joy to have you, our dedicated missionaries, join in the Lord’s harvest. Your being here is a witness that Heavenly Father is guiding His work. Your arrival is part of His perfect plan.

Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work [D&C 4:3].

As you step into this holy calling, hold close to these truths:
1. Take the next step in faith, even without seeing the whole path.
2. Trust the Holy Ghost to guide and inspire you daily.
3. Serve with love, because love invites the Spirit.
4. Draw strength from Christ, He will make you equal to the call.
5. Stay obedient and diligent, consistency brings miracles.
6. Cherish those you teach, remembering their divine worth.

The Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you [Deut. 31:6].

We are thrilled you’re here. This season will refine you, grow you, and bless countless lives starting with your own. Go forth with hope, joy, and trust. The Lord is ahead of you preparing the way.
He believes in you. So do we.

Serve Him with all your heart, might, mind and strength”[D&C 4:2].

This is a time of growth, miracles, and changed hearts. We’re so glad you said yes. Go forward with courage and joy the Lord is with you in this work.
We believe in you, and the Lord trusts you.

MISSION LEADERSHIP COUNCIL [MLC] — JULY 2026

This week, our Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders (STLs) gathered for a powerful Mission Leadership Council. It was a sacred opportunity to pause, refocus, and remember our purpose as leaders and missionaries.

During the council, they learned that leaders are not called simply to manage others or point out mistakes. They are called to be shepherds.

“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”
—John 10:14

Good shepherds prepare others to lead and help them become capable of accomplishing even greater things. True leadership lifts standards, casts vision, and kindles within others a greater desire to serve the Lord and advance His work.

Great leadership begins with listening. A good leader seeks counsel, shows genuine concern, and loves the people he or she serves. Enduring leadership is built upon Christlike principles—“persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned” (Doctrine and Covenants 121:41).

As leaders, we must set the example for those we are called to serve. We also learned the importance of trusting those around us—our STLs, Zone Leaders, and District Leaders. Leaders were never meant to do the work alone.

We have a responsibility to help our zones become stronger, more effective missionary units and to strengthen unity in every companionship. We are called to lift one another and help every missionary reach his or her divine potential.

Most of all, leadership is modeled. We lead by the way we live.

The direction is clear, and the goals are set. Our leaders are not simply returning with plans; they are returning with renewed determination to help every missionary become the person the Lord sees them capable of becoming.

They return committed to lifting every Elder and Sister, strengthening their faith, and helping them reach their divine potential.

Let us press forward in faith. This work is holy, and every soul is precious!

WELCOMING OUR NEW LEADERS: PRESIDENT AND SISTER IBE

The Nigeria Aba Mission received a wonderful blessing as we welcomed our new mission leaders, President and Sister Ibe. Their arrival brought great joy and excitement to all the missionaries.

They held a “Meet and Greet” devotional for all the missionaries, providing everyone with an opportunity to briefly introduce themselves and share a little about their background. A strong feeling of love and unity could be felt throughout the room.

We are truly grateful to have such blessed individuals and loving parents to guide and lead us in the Nigeria Aba Mission.

President and Sister Ibe also shared their personal stories and experiences. They spoke about their backgrounds, where they come from, and some of the life experiences that prepared them for their service as mission leaders. They also shared wise counsel and encouragement with the missionaries.

President Ibe counseled each missionary to love what they do and to serve the Lord with all their heart, might, mind, and strength.

Sister Ibe reminded the missionaries to put their trust in the Lord, knowing that He will guide their paths:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
—Proverbs 3:5–6

She also reminded us that the choices we make today will help shape a happy and successful future.

President and Sister Ibe reminded us of our purpose as missionaries and quoted Doctrine and Covenants 33:8.

“Open your mouths and they shall be filled, and you shall become even as Nephi of old, who journeyed from Jerusalem in the wilderness.”

The missionaries left the meeting feeling joyful, encouraged, and positive about the future. They could truly feel the love that President and Sister Ibe have for each of them.

With our new leaders, we are ready to continue working hard, serving with love, and following the great counsel they have shared with us.

With hearts full of love and excitement, the entire Nigeria Aba Mission stretches out its arms to say a big and warm welcome to President and Sister Ibe!

Honoring Those Who Completed Their Race

Today we celebrate the missionaries returning home with honor.
Your service in the field may be finished, but your light still guides us.

You worked with all your heart, served with pure love,
and trusted the Lord in every high and low.
You stood firm as disciples of Christ, teaching His gospel boldly and kindly.

Thank you for your sacrifice, your Christlike example,
and the testimonies you leave behind.
The lives you touched and the spirit you built here will remain with us.

May the faith you planted keep growing.
May home bring peace, joy, and the rest you’ve earned.
You gave everything you had.

You served tirelessly, loved selflessly,
and held fast to the Lord through every challenge and blessing.
You bore witness of Jesus Christ with courage and compassion.

We thank you for what you gave up, who you became,
and the stories that will lift us for years to come.
Your influence goes with you, and your legacy stays with us.

Well done, good and faithful servants. We are grateful.

Last week our zone conference became a reunion

With President and Sister Banda completing their mission,
the chapel filled with going home missionaries.

They shared testimonies of gratitude. Gifts were presented.
President and Sister Banda shared their heartfelt
testimonies on their missionary journey.

The room was full of laughter, and the tear of joy when Sister Banda gives the warmest hugs. Their sacrifices, love, compassion, kindness will always remain in our hearts.
We were made to understand that,
“Faithful missionaries stay anchored to Christ,
not to circumstances.
When leadership changes,
our covenant commitment remains the same.”
We were trained by the returned missionary on
5 Ways to Thrive Through Change:
1. Sustain is to support, uphold, and keep going even when things feels hard.
2. Trust is to rely on God's timing and plans even when we don't see the full pictures.
3. Learn growth happened when we stayed curious.
4. Adapt to adapt without losing our core.
5. Serve as a missionary we need to serve people around us.

Commitments were been given to us that we should:
- Speak positively
- Seek understanding
- Keep Christ at the center

Grateful for leaders who serve,
missionaries who came before,
and truth that doesn’t shift when everything else does.

MISSION LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (MLC)

Our Zone Leaders and STLs just held a powerful Mission Leadership Council. It was a chance to pause, refocus, and remember why we’re here.

They learned that those called to lead aren’t meant to be managers or fault-finders. They’re called to be shepherds, (John 10:14). Shepherds raise up others to take their place and do even greater work. True leaders hold the standard high, inspire vision, and set hearts on fire for the Lord’s work.

Good leadership starts with listening. A leader takes counsel, shows real care, and loves those they serve. Lasting leadership only comes through the principles of christ (D&C 121). persuasion, gentleness, and love unfeigned.

Leadership is mostly about showing the way through example, with follow-up to support it. (1 Timothy 4:12). Those who remain faithful are usually the ones willing to carry responsibility and set a strong example in their own area.

The vision is clear and the goals are set. Our leaders aren’t just coming back with strategies they’re coming back with determination to help every missionary rise to their divine potential.

They return with renewed commitment to lift each elder and sister and help them become who the Lord knows they can become.

Let’s keep moving forward with faith. The work is sacred, and every soul matters.
