RETURNING MISSIONARIES DEVOTIONAL - SEPTEMBER 2026 ✨

In the month of September, we had a special and timely gathering for our returning missionaries, led by Our Mission President and His Companion, President Ibe and Sister Ibe.

It was a devotional focused on one truth: the mission may end, but discipleship never does.
Here are the key messages shared 👇

1. SERVING AND GROWING AFTER YOUR MISSION

Returning home is not returning to normal life. It is returning with a higher purpose.

The habits, faith, and discipline learned in the field are not for the past — they are tools for the future.
We were reminded that the end of full-time service is the beginning of lifelong service — at home, in school, in career, and in the Church.

2. LIFELONG EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE AND THE BLESSINGS THAT COME AFTER
The Value of Education

Education was taught as an eternal principle. It is not just about a degree or a job. It is about becoming more capable of serving God and His children.

When we seek knowledge, both spiritual and temporal, the Lord magnifies our ability to provide, to lead, and to build His kingdom.
The blessings of education are lifelong — confidence, self-reliance, and expanded opportunities to bless others.

3. PRACTICE CHRISTLIKE ATTRIBUTES THROUGHOUT LIFE

The mission taught us more than lessons — it taught us character.

We were invited to continue practicing the Christlike attributes we achieved and developed on the field:
Faith, Hope, Charity and Love, Virtue, Knowledge, Patience, Humility, Diligence, and Obedience.

Education without Christlike character is incomplete. Character is what sustains success.

4. HABITS OF SETTING GOALS AND MAKING PLANS

One of the greatest habits from the field is learning to set inspired goals and make specific plans.
PRAY. SET GOALS. MAKE PLANS. ACT IN FAITH. EVALUATE AND IMPROVE.

We were reminded to:
- Set daily, weekly, and long-term goals
- Make specific and measurable plans
- Act with diligence and faith
- Evaluate progress with the Lord

What worked in the field will work for a lifetime.

5. STRIVE TO BE ON THE COVENANT PATH

Above all, the central invitation was to strive daily to remain on the covenant path — keeping our covenants, keeping righteous habits, staying close to the Lord, and attending the temple.

The mission was one great chapter on that path. The next chapters must be even greater.

MISSION TOUR - SEPTEMBER 2026 ✨
With Elder and Sister Ojediran, and President and Sister Ibe

In the month of September, it was a special week to learn and receive guidance from a General Authority Seventy and His Companion, Elder and Sister Ojediran.

Joined by Our Mission President and His Companion, President and Sister Ibe, this mission tour included Zone Conferences and Missionary Leadership Council.

It was a week of refocusing, renewing purpose, and remembering why we are here.
Here are the key messages shared 👇

1. A BETTER WAY TO DO MISSIONARY WORK
Taught by President Ibe
Purpose – People – Spirit – Preparation – Planning – Progress

The foundation is simple: all efforts should help people come unto Christ.

We were reminded to Teach People, Not Lessons. To adapt to individual needs and teach by the Spirit.
Listen with the ear. Understand with the heart. Respond with love.

Powerful missionary work grows from daily preparation and spiritual sensitivity.
STUDY. PRAY. OBEY. APPLY.
Because preparation without the Spirit is incomplete. The Spirit turns preparation into revelation.

And then we plan. We _plan with faith and act with purpose — prayerfully setting goals, making specific plans, and working to fulfill them.
THE BETTER WAY: Love sincerely. Teach by the Spirit. Invite with faith. Serve constantly. Improve daily.

INVITATION:
1. Identify one area for improvement
2. Make a specific plan
3. Act in faith
4. Evaluate and improve

2. FROM SISTER FUNMI OJEDIRAN
Becoming Lifelong Disciples of Jesus Christ

Discipleship isn’t about starting strong and stopping. It’s about pressing forward daily.
It requires intentional effort and sacrifice.

3. FROM ELDER ADEYINKA OJEDIRAN
The message began with the hymn: "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go"
The reminder was clear: "I'll be what You want me to be" must come before what we want for ourselves.

Key thoughts:
There are no coincidences. The Lord is directing lives and changing stories.
We must be fixed in purpose because the Lord needs willing hearts to accomplish His work.
Above all, trust in the Lord and build faith.

On Assignments and Service:
Every assignment comes by the wisdom of the Lord, not by accident.
Murmuring has no place when the Lord is shaping lives.
No assignment is a demotion. Each one is according to the Lord’s will.
It is not about where one serves, but how one serves.

As laborers in the Lord’s vineyard, we choose to trust Him and His will as taught by prophets, seers, and revelators.

Missionary Goal: Become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ by fulfilling the missionary purpose.
Reflection: How obedient is the effort? How sincere is the repentance?

4. THE POWER OF THE BOOK OF MORMON 📖
When studied prayerfully, it does 5 things:
- Gives answers to life’s most important questions
- Makes the love of Christ more real
- Becomes the best guide for self-evaluation and improvement
- Contains the fulness of the Gospel
- Teaches about covenants and the testimony of Jesus Christ

"The Book of Mormon brings about conversion in the lives of both teachers and those taught."

Invitation: Read, apply the principles, and focus efforts on the missionary purpose.
Coincidences are for those who don’t understand how God works.

5. MISSIONARY LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The focus was on letting go of old ways and becoming true disciples of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 9:17 — There must be a deliberate effort to change the heart and be willing to receive new messages from leaders.

September reminded us: this work is the Lord’s. And when we align our purpose, preparation, and plans with Him, miracles follow.

As one chapter closes another one opens. The Lord is still calling you to move forward.

In the month of August, we were blessed to receive a departing missionaries' devotional from President and Sister Ibe. These were the lessons taught:

As we learn in _Alma 17:1-3_, Alma and the sons of Mosiah “had given themselves to much prayer, and fasting... therefore they had the spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation.” They “searched the scriptures diligently” and became “men of a sound understanding.”

The same applies to you as you finish your mission and are now returning home. The Lord prepared you, and He is still inviting you to continue the work.

Your mission prepared you. Now the Lord is asking you to keep going. Here’s how:

1. Keep the fire burning
Don’t let the Spirit you’ve earned fade. Keep praying, fasting, and studying daily. “Sound understanding” comes from consistent spiritual habits.

2. Keep learning
Just like Alma prepared with the scriptures, prepare your mind too. Register for BYU Pathway, get the Companion app, and start studying. Take it seriously. Pathway, online school, and daily gospel study will keep you sharp spiritually and intellectually.

3. Put it to work
You have 18-24 months of leadership, teaching, and service. Put it to work. Open a LinkedIn account and update it with good information including that you are a Returned Missionary. Let people see the disciple you’ve become.

4. Keep knocking
The work continues. Apply for jobs, volunteer, intern, and keep going. Keep knocking. Keep applying. The same faith that opened doors for investigators will open doors for you.

Elders and Sisters, your mission isn’t over — it’s just in a new phase.
Keep the fire burning, keep learning, keep serving

Missionary Leadership Council----August

Leadership in the Lord’s work is a sacred trust. This council was a time to learn, be strengthened, and align our efforts as we guide and support those we serve.

We were reminded that true leadership is about helping others come unto Christ through love, example, and service.

What We Learned:

1. Be Firm and Kind
Trainers should be both firm and kind with their trainees. Set clear expectations with love, and help trainees grow through patience and encouragement.

2. Listen and Understand
Leaders should listen to and understand the concerns of missionaries. They should listen to understand rather than listen to respond. They should avoid being judgemental, seek first to understand, then guide with the Spirit.

3. Leaders Guide and Support
Leaders do not exercise authority over missionaries. Our role is to guide, support, and help missionaries follow the Spirit and succeed in the work.

4. Be Finders
Find people to teach beginning on the way from the apartment. Be bold, be observant, and look for opportunities to share the gospel wherever we go.

We were invited to lead by example and remember that people matter more than programs. As we apply these principles, the Lord will magnify our efforts and bless both the missionaries and those we serve.

May we go forth with increased faith, unity, and a desire to serve as the Savior would.

Trainers & Trainees Council / Assessment
With President and Sister Ibe - August

Opening:
Times like this are a time to learn, prepare, and go forth with readiness in doing the Lord's work.
This assessment was a time to reflect and refocus on areas where we need improvement, so that we can better serve the Lord and those we teach.

We were reminded of who we are and given hope as we continue to apply what we’ve learned, study personally and with our companions, and remain obedient to all the Lord requires.

__“We are missionaries singing all around the world, standing tall, living right.
We are missionaries leading all to come to the Father and the Savior.
We teach the gospel by the way we live — our actions, words, and mindset show the gospel message.”

What We Learned:

1. Trust God’s Plan
We received words of hope to trust God’s plan. God listens when we pray and answers when we call on Him — in His time.

2. Assessment is for Growth
Assessment is a time to grow, learn, and to be better. It helps us become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.

3. Stay Focused on the Purpose
President counseled us to be focused on our missionary purpose.
Using technology wisely helps us be disciplined. Technology restrictions help us stay focused, not to control us.

4. Teach Clearly and Speak with Love
We were counseled to be precise and use clear language so that those we teach will understand.
We should not rush to read scriptures just to show that we know them.
President invited us to change our language — to be more polite and kind. Speaking nicely makes us better people.

Role Play:
We participated in a role play scenario to practice applying these principles in our teaching.

Closing:
President and Sister Ibe expressed their love for us and testified that the Lord is aware of each of us.
He invited us to reflect with this question:
"What’s next? What will I do differently to learn and become a better missionary?”

As we go forward, let us remember that all of this starts with YOU. The Lord will bless our efforts as we strive to improve.
May we go forth with comfort, peace, and the blessings of heaven upon us.

Welcome to the Nigeria Aba Mission! 🌍🇳🇬✨
To our new Elders & Sisters — we’re so glad you’re here

The Lord has been preparing you for this sacred calling, and He has also been preparing the hearts of the people here in the Nigeria Aba Mission for you.
You were not sent here by accident. You were called for this time, in this place, to bring souls to Christ.
As you begin, hold fast to these six guiding principles. Let them guide you, strengthen you, and remind you why you are here.

1. Fear is the greatest enemy of missionary work.
Fear will tell you “you’re not ready” or “what if they say no.”
But faith says “God is with me.”
You were called for this time. You were prepared. Talk to people. Knock the door. The Spirit will do the rest.

2. Everything is possible until it is no longer possible.
That means keep trying. Keep loving. Keep inviting.
The interested person who said no today might say yes next month.
The lesson that feels hard today will click tomorrow.
Don’t write off miracles too soon. _“With God all things are possible.”_ — Matthew 19:26

3. Work as if all depends on you.. Pray as if all depends on God.
Plan your day. Be on time. Study hard. Love the people.
Then kneel and turn the results over to Heavenly Father.
Your effort opens the door. His power does the miracle.
This is partnership with God and it works.

4. You’ll receive a lot of teachings.. but be intentional about your personal growth
Trainings, zone conferences, companion study — it’s all gold.
But growth doesn’t happen by accident.
Ask yourself weekly: What one Christlike attribute am I working on?
What one scripture am I mastering? What one unpleasant habit am I dropping?
Become the missionary God needs you to be.
The Lord invites us to show our efforts in the path of becoming lifelong disciples of the Savior.

5. When you are humble, you become teachable.
Humble missionaries listen to their trainer, their zone leaders, and the Spirit — even when it’s hard.
Pride closes doors. Humility opens them.
The more teachable you are, the more the Lord can teach you through the people you serve.

6. Obedience is the measure of the depth of your conversion.
Obedience isn’t to check boxes. It’s to show God, “I trust You.”
When we follow the rules, keep the schedule, and honor our covenants,
we invite protection, guidance, and power into our work.
Obedience precedes blessings, but obedience with exactness leads to miracles.
The Lord calls us to be honest and have genuine integrity in all that we do.

_“Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work.”_ — D&C 4:3

We love you. We’re praying for you. The Lord is already preparing the people you’re meant to find.

Let’s go to work with faith, grow with purpose, and serve with love.

Zone Conference Reflections

Called to the Work | Nigeria Aba Mission 🇳🇬

We were blessed to gather for our Zone Conference centered on the theme “Fulfilling Your Divine Mission Calling and Assignment.”

Through inspired instruction, scripture study, discussion, and reflection, our missionaries were reminded that missionary service is more than an assignment—it is a divine calling to represent Jesus Christ and bless the lives of others.

We focused on becoming true disciples of Christ, strengthening our commitment to the work, exercising faith, loving those we serve, and faithfully fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to us.

As we continue to “go forth” with faith and purpose, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and invite others to come unto Christ.

“Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work.” — [Doctrine and Covenants 64:33]

We discussed what it means to be “anxiously engaged”. We role-played real situations: a discouraged missionary, a struggling companionship, an area with few to teach. The question wasn’t “What would a passive person do?” but “What would an anxiously engaged disciple do?”

“Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;” [Doctrine and Covenants 58:27]

The Spirit was strong as we learned that taking care of our bodies is part of the work.

“Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord.” [Doctrine and Covenants 38:42]

Hygiene, housing, food, rest, medicine, and communication are not distractions. “As we care for the body God has given us, we increase our capacity to serve Him and bless His children.”

We committed to a daily standard to maintain cleanliness, keep our apartment safe and orderly, protect our health, and seek help early. Seeking help is not weakness. It is responsible stewardship.

Departing missionaries also shared heartfelt testimonies that touched every heart in the room.
They unanimously testified that the Lord magnifies us when we are obedient.
Their words challenged all of us to renew our commitment and share the gospel with greater boldness.

We are grateful for the example of those going home, and for the charge we’ve been given to carry their spirit forward. Their service has left a mark on the Nigeria Aba Mission, and now it’s our turn to keep building.

Let’s go forward with faith, diligence, and hearts set on the work of salvation and exaltation!

TRAINERS & TRAINEES' COUNCIL JULY 2026

This past week, our New Missionaries met with their Trainers for a Council. A sacred time of instruction, unity, and revelation.

Trainers carry a holy responsibility to prepare the Lord’s newest servants. The focus was clear: training isn’t just about passing on skills. It’s about loving your companion, living your covenants, and inviting the Spirit to do the teaching.

To our new missionaries: Be humble learners. Listen with your heart, act in faith, and put into practice what you’re learning right away. You were also taught how to properly record and report concerns in your areas. Your teachable spirit and diligence invite the Spirit and accelerate your growth [D&C 112:10]. You weren’t only called to be trained you were called to become leaders.

Thank you to all who poured their hearts into this council. The fields are already white [D&C 4:4], and as you serve with faith, the Lord will multiply your work.

Stand strong in faith and look for the Lord’s hand. Go forward with purpose and power! [D&C 123:17]
Let’s keep our faith strong and watch for God’s hand. Serve forward with purpose and power!
