Gospel of the day
-Luke 6:1-5

On a sabbath, while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands.

But some of the Pharisees said, "Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the sabbath?"

And Jesus answered, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:

how he entered the house of God, and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?"

And he said to them, "The Son of man is lord of the sabbath."

Gospel of the day
-Luke 4:38-44

And he arose and left the synagogue, and entered Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they besought him for her.

And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her; and immediately she rose and served them.

Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.

And demons also came out of many, crying, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

And when it was day he departed and went into a lonely place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them;

but he said to them, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for I was sent for this purpose."

And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Gospel of the day
-Mark 6:17-29

For Herod had sent and seized John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Hero'di-as, his brother Philip's wife; because he had married her.

For John said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."

And Hero'di-as had a grudge against him, and wanted to kill him. But she could not,

for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he was much perplexed; and yet he heard him gladly.

But an opportunity came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his courtiers and officers and the leading men of Galilee.

For when Hero'di-as' daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests; and the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will grant it."

And he vowed to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, even half of my kingdom."

And she went out, and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the baptizer."

And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."

And the king was exceedingly sorry; but because of his oaths and his guests he did not want to break his word to her.

And immediately the king sent a soldier of the guard and gave orders to bring his head. He went and beheaded him in the prison,

and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

When his disciples heard of it, they came and took his body, and laid it in a tomb.

Gospel of the day
-Matthew 24:1-13

"Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them;

but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

But at midnight there was a cry, `Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.'

Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'

But the wise replied, `Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.'

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut.

Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, `Lord, lord, open to us.'

But he replied, `Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.'

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Gospel of the day
-Matthew 24:42-51

Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.

But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into.

Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?

Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing.

Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.

But if that wicked servant says to himself, `My master is delayed,'

and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with the drunken,

the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know,

and will punish him, and put him with the hypocrites; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.

Gospel of the day
- Matthew 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together, and one of them,
a scholar of the law, tested him by asking,
โ€œTeacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?โ€
He said to him,
โ€œYou shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.โ€

๐Ÿญ.

Gospel of the day
-Matthew 19:23-30

Jesus said to his disciples:
โ€œAmen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich
to enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Again I say to you,
it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.โ€
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said,
โ€œWho then can be saved?โ€
Jesus looked at them and said,
โ€œFor men this is impossible,
but for God all things are possible.โ€
Then Peter said to him in reply,
โ€œWe have given up everything and followed you.
What will there be for us?โ€
Jesus said to them, โ€œAmen, I say to you
that you who have followed me, in the new age,
when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory,
will yourselves sit on twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or lands
for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more,
and will inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.โ€
