A DAY OF COMPASSION ON SILVER LINING DAY

On Sunday 6 September, 38 Nalanda Youth members, Nalanda Dhamma School teenagers and volunteers visited Bodhi Homecare to engage with the children there for the Silver Lining Day programme. Organised by Nalanda Youth Centre, this programme provides a platform for youths to practise mettā (loving-kindness) and karuṇā (compassion) through service to the community.

The service started with a morning reminder from Sis Nandini, youths played games with the children and made paper lanterns as the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches. There were performances from both sides, a surprise birthday celebration, goods from the Care Bags project, and a warm lunch prepared for the Home.

This programme reminded us that generosity is expressed not only through material things, but also through our time, presence and care. It also left us grateful for what we have.

We rejoice over this meaningful day of service. May the seeds of service and giving continue to grow and be nourished in our youths. Sādhu anumodana.

A JOYFUL TRADITION OF GIVING AND SERVING

On Saturday 5 September, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur branch hosted its monthly Pindacāra at the OUG and Happy Garden markets.

We rejoice with heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support of devotees and market stall operators, who continue to offer dāna with such sincerity and generosity. Their kindness and generosity not only supports the Sangha but also keeps alive the beautiful tradition of Pindacāra in our community.

In her sharing, Ayya Sanghamittā reminded us that Pindacāra provides the Sangha with an opportunity to practise simplicity and compassion towards all beings, while offering lay people a meaningful avenue to cultivate generosity and deepen their connection with the Dhamma.

Ayya expressed her appreciation to Nalanda for their steadfast support of this programme over many years.

May this wholesome tradition continue to flourish and inspire many more hearts to give, serve, and practise the Dhamma together.

BPS 404 EIGHTH LECTURE
Saturday, 12 September | 2 – 6 pm | Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang

We warmly invite all registered participants of the BPS 404 Higher Certificate in Buddhist Studies to attend the eighth lecture this Saturday. Sis. Paruadi will lead us in exploring the Buddhist Concept of Humanity & Sociology, examining through the lens of Buddha-Dhamma how our values, relationships and actions shape not only our individual lives, but also the communities and society we live in.

This lecture invites us to deepen our understanding of how Buddhist principles can guide us towards greater wisdom, responsibility and harmony in our relationships with others and the wider society. We look forward to another meaningful afternoon of learning, reflection and Dhamma fellowship together.

Let us learn the Dhamma, reflect deeply, and apply it meaningfully in our lives and community.

A MEANINGFUL VISIT BY VEN. DR. SANTACITTO

Nalanda was honoured to host Ven. Dr. Santacitto from 28 August to 1 September for the Tipiṭaka Workshop and a series of meaningful Dhamma discussions. His stay provided a valuable opportunity for Nalanda members to seek Venerable’s guidance and exchange perspectives on Dhammadūta work and Dhamma practice.

During his stay, Ven. Dr. Santacitto also went on alms round (Pindacāra) in Taman Sri Serdang, giving the local community an opportunity to participate in the wholesome practice of offering alms. He also visited the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple before departing for Indonesia.

We are grateful to Venerable for his generous sharing and guidance. May the valuable exchanges inspire us to deepen our Dhamma practice and strengthen our commitment to Dhammadūta service for the welfare and happiness of many.
