Nottingham Buddhist Society - Malaysia

Nottingham Buddhist Society - Malaysia Providing education for the youth based on the Dhamma; the teachings of the Buddha. Our objectives are:
1. To deepen the member’s knowledge about the Dhamma.
2.

Nottingham Buddhist Society was formally established as a society under the University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus on the 11th November 2009. The idea of Nottingham Buddhist Society stemmed from a group of Buddhist youth with a passion to provide a platform for their fellow university mates to learn and benefit from the teachings of the Buddha. The drive of catering to those who wish to underst

and more, or to increase their knowledge in Buddhism has been passed down and that has now become the main vision of this society; to provide a Buddhist education. To instil Buddhist values and culture

As the basis of our society is education, our motto is, "Educating for a change". The colour yellow is the official colour of our society as it represents light. With the light of wisdom, it dispels the darkness of ignorance.

Helloooo everyone!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our meaningful visit to Nian Jue Lin Temple. 🌿✨

During the trip, we explored the peaceful temple grounds, received insightful Dhamma teachings from a Sangha member, and had the precious opportunity to offer Lunch Dāna, a beautiful act of generosity and merit. These wholesome experiences gave us moments for deeper reflection, understanding, and inner growth.

Nottingham Buddhist Society extends our sincere gratitude to the committee members and volunteers at Nian Jue Lin Temple for their warm hospitality and support in making this visit truly memorable. 🙏

Thank you once again to all participants for being part of this enriching journey. Let’s continue to cultivate the values we’ve learned. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Helloooo everyone!

Thank you everyone for joining our last meditation session! 💛✨

Dr. Karma began the evening with a series of Pranayama breathing exercises to help calm, regulate, and centre our breath. After completing four techniques, we settled into a period of quiet meditation — simply observing our breath and resting in gentle awareness. 🌬️🧘‍♂️

Towards the end, we closed with a short metta meditation, guided by Dr. Karma. She reminded us of the importance of loving-kindness practice and the many meaningful benefits it can bring into our daily lives. 💖

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Karma for guiding us through this beautiful meditation series, and to all participants for being part of this journey. Thank you, everyone! 🙏✨

📣 Hellooo, everyone! A huge thank you to each and every one of you who joined us for our second session of Meditation Night! 🤗 In our second session, Dr. Karma shared about the importance of mindfulness — reminding us how often we live our lives unmindfully, not truly aware of what we’re doing. 🌿

She encouraged us to slow down and really observe and feel each moment — our feet touching the ground as we walk, our tongue tasting the food as we eat — to live with full awareness and presence. 🍃

Dr. Karma also reminded us to always return to our breath, to look inward instead of constantly seeking outward. 🌬️

We then practiced Pranayama, a series of breathing exercises to help calm and regulate our breath. After completing four techniques, we sat in stillness, simply watching our breath and resting in awareness. 🧘‍♂️✨

The evening concluded with a short Q&A session and a heartfelt sense of calm and clarity. 💭

Thank you to everyone who joined and shared this mindful space with us! 🙏💖

Our next Meditation Night will be happening on Tuesday, 25 November! Look forward to seeing you there!

📣 Hellooo, everyone! A huge thank you to each and every one of you who joined us for our first week of Meditation Night! 🤗 We hope you had a relaxing and meaningful session. 🙌

Dr. Karma shared with us the essence of meditation — reminding us to always understand why we meditate. 🧘‍♀️✨

She began by helping us relax our body and mind through deep, calming breaths, and guided us in simple breathing exercises that we can use anytime to find calm and focus. 🌬️💫 She also reminded us to let go of all thoughts about assignments, projects, and everything else that clutters our minds — to simply be present in the moment. 🍃 We wrapped up the session with a short Q&A, where everyone got to reflect and ask questions about their own practice. 💭

Thank you, Dr. Karma, for such a peaceful and insightful evening — and a big thank you to everyone who joined and shared this calm space with us! 🙏💖
Don’t forget—our next Meditation Night is happening on next Tuesday, 11 November! 🎇 We look forward to seeing you there🪴!

Hello everyone! 🤩🤩

Thank you so much for joining our final Meditation Night of the semester. ✨ We hope it was a profound experience for you and that you took away meaningful insights. 😊

During the event, Dr. Tenzin shared key lessons to enrich our mindfulness practice:

✨ Compassion & Gratitude – Cultivating kindness toward ourselves and others nurtures inner peace and deeper connections. ❤️

🌿 Embracing Imperfection & Letting Go – Accepting life’s uncertainties helps us release unnecessary burdens and move forward with ease.

🌏 Stepping Outside & Practicing Mindfulness – Engaging with our surroundings keeps us present and allows us to appreciate life’s simple moments.

🍃 Heightening Awareness of Our Environment – Tuning in to the sights, sounds, and sensations around us enhances our sense of calm and clarity.

We also explored various meditation techniques:

💨 Pranayama – A breathwork technique that regulates respiration to center the mind and body.

🧘 Vipassana – A deep mindfulness practice focused on self-awareness and inner observation.

🌬 Viloma Pranayama – A controlled breathing technique where exhalation is divided into ten small breaths, engaging the core to promote relaxation and focus.

🦁 Lion’s Breath – A powerful breathwork practice involving a deep inhale followed by an audible exhalation to release tension and negative energy.

As we close this journey, let’s carry these values with us. Show compassion to yourself and others, and find gratitude in the present moment. Life is ever-changing, and perfection is an illusion—let go of what no longer serves you and embrace growth. Step outside, engage with the world, and be mindful of every experience. Breathe in, listen to the sounds around you, and connect with the rhythm of life. Mindfulness is not just in meditation—it’s in how we live.

Thank you once again for being part of this insightful gathering. 🪷 Don’t forget to join us for our final weekly event of the semester this Thursday!!! 🤗 We can’t wait to see you there! 🌱
