Floods and landslides have left a trail of devastation through Rasuwa.

A sudden surge of floodwater swept through communities, damaging homes, roads and bridges and cutting off access in some areas.

As search and rescue efforts continue, there’s an urgent need for shelter, food, safe drinking water and medical care.

Caritas Nepal is working with local partners and authorities to assess the situation and see where support is needed most.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Nepal who’ve lost loved ones, those still missing and everyone involved in the rescue efforts.

Communique

In accordance with the directive of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, and in preparation for the Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026—scheduled for Sep 9 to 13 2026 in Sibu, Sarawak—Most Reverend Archbishop John Wong calls upon all faithful across the Archdiocese to dedicate Sep 4 2026 as a Day of Fasting and Prayer.

Everyone is encouraged to observe this day through individual acts of penance and devotion to support this major gathering of the Church.

All parishes are also asked to arrange community intercessory initiatives—such as adoration hours, rosary recitations, and prayer vigils—enabling our entire archdiocesan family to join together in seeking the Holy Spirit’s wisdom for this significant milestone.

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, this Saturday morning, August 15, followed by strong aftershocks and a tsunami warning.

May God protect all those affected and keep communities safe from further danger. 🙏
